Sacrilege - Lindsay Lohan In Talks To Play Elizabeth Taylor

When I first read Deadline.com's report that Lindsay Lohan was in talks to play Elizabeth Taylor I thought it must be Lindsay playing a role like in a Miami dinner theatre production of National Velvet where the actors have little wooden horses they ride on stage while the waiters are clearing the appetizers. This is pretty much the stage at where Lindsay's career is right now. Yes, I see what you are saying and you could make the case that she could do some community theatre in certain small towns.

So, imagine my horror when I read she was actually in talks to play Elizabeth. As in be her? Seriously? Granted this is just Lifetime and this is the same network who takes great pride in airing every Tori Spelling movie back to back to back in primetime, but still, it is Elizabeth Taylor and for the rest of time we will have to hear from Lindsay and Dina how Lindsay played Elizabeth Taylor after Hugh Hefner compared her to Marilyn Monroe and how come Lindsay does not have an Academy Award yet?

Deadline borrows this quote from Slate about how the two are alike in some ways.

“Both had domineering stage mothers, little semblance of a real childhood, fame from a young age, substance abuse issues, public emotional outpourings, and copious amounts of tabloid drama. The key difference, though, is that Elizabeth Taylor had a true record of achievement before she became the most notorious movie star in America.”

  1. I have always pictured Camilla Belle as Elizabeth, personally.

  2. I can't believe Lifetime would even want to hire her at this point. If she ever cleaned up, that would be a very generous offer, but until then, laughable.

Is not LL always in talks for some role,or another

  4. Stop it. You're not Marilyn Monroe, you're sure as HELL not Liz Taylor, just stop it.

  5. I thought Lindsey was unable to get insured for movie roles?

  6. Just watch it won't happen.

  7. I am going to hate myself for saying this but.....she looks pretty close in that photo. Closer than she ever looked to Marilyn. Having said that, she is in no way shape or form up to playing such a complicated person. No matter how much airbrushing they do, it won't disguise the fact that her skills never grew beyond the age of 16.

  8. She can play Elizabeth playing that drunk in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She might be too old to play that part, though (LIz was 34). Maybe she could play Elizabeth playing Beryl Mason in These Old Broads.

  9. BigMama, with that much makeup and photoshopping they could make Enty look like Liz Taylor.

    ReplyDelete
  10. @Angus - true, I do believe I did comment on the airbrushing however.

  11. @Grace... Camilla Belle...totally agree. She'd be perfect.

  12. I have a feeling this is not really happening...just Dina "getting the idea out there"

  13. You guys, this is the same network that produced "Co-Ed Call Girl." We're not talking about an HBO miniseries or anything. Who cares?

No one can play Liz and do the woman justice. I don't care if you're talking about Lindsay, Camilla, or Natalie.

    Please, leave these idols alooooooone!

I don't think she'll ever do it. She's been in so many "talks" lately, this is just one more. She's done. She just won't leave.

I thought I read something somewhere about Liz Taylor saying nobody could ever play her but herself. Hopefully she put that in her will or something and they won't make a movie about her. Some things need to be left alone.

  15. I have a subscription to Interview. I will burn it when it comes in the mail. I ran out of wood for my fire place anyway. Slutbag.

I'm in talks to play Robert deNiro. Now go tell people!

See what I did there? It's just that easy.

  17. She looks nothing like Liz. It takes more than black hair and heavy brows to do it. No matter what, Liz always had a certain softness to her face, where Lindsay looks hard and haggard.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Actually I agree with BigMama - she looks more like Liz here than she EVER looked like Marilyn. However, as someone else pointed out, I think that is her old face. The lips in this photo aren't all blown up like her current ones.

I'd like to see her screw this up too.

  19. I think the thing to keep in mind when it comes to Lindsay is that she actually WAS a good actress...when she was actually acting. It's been a while. If I'm not mistaken, this cover of Interview is a few years old, back when Lindsay had a semblance of her spark and skills. She was able to fake a bit of the Taylor sultriness. And yeah, there was also a bunch of photoshopping and makeup artistry going on.

I'm NOT comparing her to Meryl Streep, but Meryl just embodied Margaret Thatcher -- and those two women couldn't be more different. Think of Cate Blanchett in The Aviator. Or Kidman in The Hours. Or Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles. A great performer can take on the same mannerisms and expressions as another person and fool you on the page or the screen.

The thing that Liz always had that Lindsay lost a long time ago is dignity -- and that's an impossible thing to fake.

  20. Forget the Tori Spelling movies--did anyone see "The Craigslist Killer?" A television masterpiece! Can't wait for the Drew Peterson movie coming up: I'm untouchable bitch. Can't wait!!!
(A favorite pastime of mine: watch bad movies with my son.)

  21. What is sad to me is that LILO had the opportunity to *become* an icon of her own. She had the talent and unique, beautiful look. Instead, she desperately is trying to imitate other icons. No way dies she get this role. Once again, she is putting rumors out there so she can try to look like she is in demand. Problem is, no one believes them.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lilo as Liz Taylor will be as credible as Kathie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy

    ReplyDelete
  23. I saw that they cast someone with talent & beauty to play Elizabeth for the majority of her life. Then throw Lindsay a very small bone & let her play Elizabeth from age 77 through to her death at age 79. Limit her to either a bed or wheelchair, and limit how many words she gets to speak. Dye her hair to the appropriate color. In terms of the face she looks the appropriate age, so that's a big cost savings. Problem solved!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Lilo was in talks to portray Elizabeth Taylor at the same time I was in talks with President Obama, Putin and Pope Benedict to become Queen and Supreme Leader of Planet Earth.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Elvira - was thinking the same thing! Once upon a time, she did have some talent. But now, or really since she was a young teenager, I just see her as LL, not her character. Some actors disappear when they're acting, you see only the character, while LL is always... LL.

Acting ability aside, I have a hard time believing she has what it takes (at this time in her life) to actually pull off a lead role. It's a lot of work!

    ReplyDelete
  26. ... and @Anita Mark - LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh HELL NO! Leave Dame Elizabeth alone, you fugly, drug-addled, pathetic, dirty, lice-ridden, coke addicted cunt-ass whore! You aren't fit to snort the dust from her tombstone!

When will this trick fucking OD already?!

    Fucking cokeroach!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh please. Remember how she was going to be in that Gotti movie, which still doesn't have proper financing? How about the Linda Lovelace movie? I think this is BS just to keep her name out there. Nobody will insure her - she's still too much of a risk.

  29. Note that this magazine is from like 2006. At first I thought it was recent, but then I looked at the date. And the world makes sense again...phew.

Camilla Belle? Seriously?! That girl can't act her way out of a paper bag. For looks, sure. But looking like Liz Taylor does not a Liz Taylor make. Yikes.

  30. I'm with everyone here: A) PR ploy in saying she is in talks to play LaLiz, aint never gonna happen B) She was once very talented but that ship has sailed.

I will say that I think if she ever got another manager and listened to them she may be able to come back ala RDJ. But she is seriously running out of time.

  31. The only Elizabeth Taylor this Kleptomanic meth head is capable of playing is the dog from Sex and the City. Actually, scratch that, the dog was likeable, this trick isn't.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I adored that storyline on SatC!!!

  33. I love it, anita_mark. Totally.

She couldn't play Elizabeth Borden...nevermind Eluzabeth Taylor-

    ReplyDelete
  35. Maybe she should give HER mother 40 whacks...!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous9:05 AM

No, I think she would make a FANTASTIC Lizzie Borden.. A modern cracked out crazy Lizzie Borden..but.she needs the unbrushed hair and meth teeth to nail the role

    ReplyDelete
  37. Lindsay play Liz Taylor? Fat chance. For one thing, Linds looks way too old now even to play Liz at 70. SLAM!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well I think we've hit on the perfect role for Lilo. Remember when Elizabeth Montgomery played her(Lizzie Borden)? It helped her career too.

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's weird how much she looks like Elizabeth Taylor in that picture, though...

    ReplyDelete
  40. The "talks" are conversations Dina/LL are having with each other and maybe the Lifetime office's secretary Dina leaves messages with.

Lindsay *did* say something last fall about having something in common with Taylor; talk about trying to make your dreams/delusions come true.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I heard this on the news this morning. As someone said earlier, she's uninsurable, so no way. This is Dina dredging up an old magazine cover and making something of it. The difference between Liz and Lilo is that, throughout everything, Liz kept her talent.

    ReplyDelete
  42. And no one has said "Liz would roll over in her grave."

LL *could* have done a lot of things, but never will.

    ReplyDelete
  43. No. Just NO. Please Lifetime. Also, Elizabeth had a high and feminine, lilting voice. Lindsay's 30 year smoker voice will NOT WORK. No.

    ReplyDelete
  44. @SusanB, I laughed so loud at your comment I thought I would wake my husband up.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think Demi Lovato when she has black hair, can pull off a young Liz taylor.

  47. Somebody needs to tell Lindsay that they don't give out Oscars for appearing in Lifetime movies.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Look how much she's changed in 6 years. Was that Labor Pains movie on Lifetime too? I'd forgotten about that til I saw her IMDb page. She has literally only done one movie a year in the past three years. I'm interested to see how this pans out (will she get arrested again before it shoots or do something else to get her fired). I can see the comparisons Deadline makes, but it doesn't really matter since she cannot get her act together.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The silver lining of this story - somewhere, right now, Kim Kardassian is throwing an epic fit. "Moooooommmmm, make them give this to meeeeeee!!!!" That girl is desperate to be Liz.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I thought she was uninsurable, and thus unemployable in Hollywood. This is what I recall from a discussion with a future major studio general counsel way back in 1991: that insurance and insurability play a major role in the Industry.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I was initially horrified but after a few moments realized it'll never happen. She'll screw it up somehow.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Somewhere Liz just rolled over in her grave. My sister just gagged on her hamburger.

If they use this used up cracked out famewhore for Liz, who are they going to get to play Monty? Charlie Sheen???

    ReplyDelete
  53. The key difference, though, is that Elizabeth Taylor had ...." TALENT! SHE HAD TALENT! Her whole life! Not a glimpse here and there! Talent in National Velvet! Talent in Giant! Talent in Taming if the Shrew! Talent in Cleopatra! Talent in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Talent even in The Mirror Crack'd!!!! Talent TALENT! TALENT! TALENT! CLASS! DIGNITY!!!!!!! I can't go on. Make it stop.

  54. @Mooshki - I think my head has just melted at the thought of having to choose between Klepto Queen and the Human Diaper for who plays the sophisticated, classy and talented Liz.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I know, Mynerva. I was appalled enough that Kim K. bought some of Liz's bracelets. I really wish all her jewels had been donated to a museum rather than going to rich narcissists who are under the delusion that some of her magic will rub off on them.

    ReplyDelete
  56. @Mooshki - Like Jill Zarin, for example. Ugh!
