Janet Jackson About To Be An X Factor Judge

So, do you think Janet Jackson is a big step up from Paula Abdul as far as star power for the X Factor? At first glance, you would say yes, but then you realize that Paula Abdul has been doing this judging thing for awhile and has a huge built in audience and does Janet have more of that going for her than Paula? As far as musical talent, Janet blows Paula away, but I'm not sure if anything can just fix the fact that audiences just do not seem to like the format and in The Voice have already found their second favorite singing show. Between The Voice and Idol four nights a week, I think people are exhausted by the time X Factor comes on.

Oh, and good job to Anderson Cooper for sandbagging Janet on the question. We need more of that in celebrity interviewing.

  2. That is a good look for Janet, it did wonders for Jho's floundering career.

  3. I think she will be as bad or worse than Nicole. The problem is the judges are more interested in being liked then telling the truth.

So it is all about them not the contestants. It doesn't work.

  4. The silver fox. *fans self* I know he doesn't bat for my team, but a girl can dream.

  5. I can't get into any of these singing competitions any more. Just like Enty said, it's just too much. I can only slightly tolerate the tail end of Idol anymore. I don't watch audtions or Hollywood week, and I used to.

  7. She'll be okay if she doesn't speak in that hushed, creepy tone of hers.

Part of Paula's appeal is to see how wasted/crazy she's acting.

  8. Aren't these artists pretty much acknowledging that their careers are in the crapper when they sign on as talent show judges?

Sooooo, if Janet takes the gig is she going to wear sunglasses the whole time and issue all of her comments sotto voce?

  9. Janet is an excellent choice. She's been in the business since she was a child, is a performer, is a sibling of a legendary music performer. It's about time they chose someone who is highly qualified.

  10. Has JJ ever made a career decision on her own in her life? I didn't see this interview but in the ones I've seen, she doesn't seem like a decisive person.

  11. I think Janet is a good choice too, she certainly has the experience to back it up. I have no interest in watching any more of these shows, though.

I kind of like Anderson's show though - he is still kind of growing into it and seems awkward at times, but he's had some good guests on. If I make it home in time, I watch it!

  12. seems like an okay choice, will generate a few ratings until people get tired of all the overwrought drama. The Voice is so much better than X Factor and AI, it's the only one worth watching.

  13. Although I LOVE Janet.....I want to point out that all of the dance choreography that she was famous for was done by........yep, Paula.

  14. ^ I forget that Paula had something she was good at. Her songs were terrible but I loved her dancing, way back when :) My friends and I would study her videos. Cold Hearted Snake! (can't believe I'm admitting that)

  15. Oh, Anderson...love that chin pose.

I like Paula, but I consider Miss Jackson an upgrade.

I wanted to watch the X Factor but I just forgot about it, esp since I'm watching AI & The Voice.
