When I saw the headline I said to myself some middle aged guy has a weird obsession with his 18 year old girlfriend and really wants her to call him Daddy in a big way if he is going to adopt her. Turns out I was wrong. The millionaire is 48, but his girlfriend is 42. It turns out he adopted her in order to hide his assets because he killed a 23 year old while driving drunk. Oh, excuse me. Allegedly driving drunk. There is no alleged about the 23 year old though. She is dead and was hit by his car.
The millionaire is John Goodman. Not the actor, but now when someone Googles John Goodman they will say wtf? He adopted his girlfriend? He is a kinky guy. Wonder if he and Roseanne got it on while Marcy watched. Then they will read the article and see that it is an entirely different John Goodman and then face the realization they have a really dirty mind and probably need professional help. Oh, and to stop watching Nick At Nite all night while drinking.
This other John Good man is an ass. Not only did he hit the woman and kill her, but he left the scene, did not call the police or an ambulance. The thing is when police caught up with him he was still over the legal limit but can they prove he was drunk when driving or did he load up after he left the car?
I feel for the 23 year old's family. If this guy gets away with this shit.....*shakes head*
ReplyDeleteSame situation happened to a friend of mine last year. Walking back to her house and some drunk, irresponsible asshole hits her and her friend and leaves them to die. Her friend didn't but she did. This same jerk turns himself in over 24 hours later. It is well documented in survailence footage that he was drinking, heavily. People are cowards witj no common decency. Heres the kicker: he only got 18 months in jail for murdering a truly beautiful person inside and out.

DeleteAren't there laws about hiding or transferring assets in anticipation of losing them? Like if you are being sued, quickly putting everything in your wife's name so the assets can't be seized to satisfy the judgment? And on that note, why didn't he just marry the girlfriend? This guy is seriously f**ked up, and seriously a shithead on top of it.

ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how some people's first instinct is not to check on the person but to FLEE THE SCENE. Someone from my school was hit and killed by a taxi driver and when police finally located the driver he said he "wasn't aware he had hit anything." The impact of the hit and run was so hard that the light on the roof of the cab flew off and was found on the side of the highway. There are some truly disgusting people in this world.

ReplyDeleteand even though the cops may not be able to prove that he was drunk, then they still have him for vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident. not all jurisdictions give slaps on the wrist. of course when they do, the defendant is always white and usu. male.

However, money seems to be his main concern so the "wipe him out" scenario works for me.
Also, if the adoption goes through he should be charged with incest.
ReplyDeleteI think the dollar situation is a little more complex. Apparantly he has two children and a lot of money was in trust for them. If he loses a case for wrongful death he will lose most/all of the assets he has in his name. This means he would have nothing to live on. The court has already ruled that the children's trust fund can not be touched by the wrongful death lawsuit. By adopting his girlfriend she would be entitled to a third of the children's trust fund. Provided she shares/supports him it will enable him to continue living the good life even if he's lost all his personal assets. I don't know if there is any independent representation defending the interest of the two children. Also isn't continued sex with your girlfriend incest after you adopt her?

I would LOVE to be on either the criminal or civil case jury - although once I'm under oath I'd have to admit I've already found him guilty. He's a real piece of shit and this is a HUGE local scandal. From what I hear, he's had a reputation as a drunk driver for years but has managed to talk/bribe his way out of it before. And from what I remember, the kid he killed was a real sweetheart, just graduated from college.

@Daveb, another interesting item to this Houston Millionaire who killed the kid with his Bentley. He has trusts for both of his biological kids but they can't touch the funds until they're 35. If the victim's parents win the lawsuit, they can't access his 2 childrens' trust funds. However, by adopting 42 year old Heather Hutchins and by naming her his child and heir, she is immediately eligible to one-third of his estate as she is over the age of 35. Interestingly, the courts may say not only is this fraud, but it opens up some sort of precedent to access Goodman's biological children's funds.

The funeral is out of state....in ten minutes. Not doing so hot. I came here to get a mental break and now get to fucking think about this AGAIN.
