Today's Blind Items
Most of the time an Academy Award nominee tells a really funny story about being awakened at 530am by their agent or manager telling them the good news that they have been nominated. This year, one of the nominees for best actor/best actress found out while they were still in the middle of an all night bender with someone who is not their significant other. After a night of epic partying, this actor/actress was actually in the middle of having sex with a stranger they picked up earlier in the night when their phone began blowing up with the news. This one will shock you with who it is.
Melissa McCarthy or Meryl Streep.

ReplyDeleteI love Gary Oldman on the screen but I know nothing about his personal life so I don't know if it would be shocking or not. Brad Pitt would be shocking because this would run against his public image and he is not considered the wild member of Team Brangelina.

ReplyDeleteHmmm.... Clooney DEF not shocking. I love Demian but I don't think enough people know him to be shocked by what he does or doesn't do. Pitt would be shocking. Oldman is kind of a wierd guy so I'm not sure it would be that shocking. And I don't know enough about the Artist guy to be shocked... so I'm thinking of all the guys, it could only be Mr. Jolie.
ReplyDeleteOf the gals.... only Viola Davis or Meryl Streep would be truly shocking. Maybe Glenn Close would be kind of shocking. Rooney and Michelle- this would not shock me. I know lots of people might be shocked by Michelle bc of all the stuff she has said about her reasons for the split w Heath being drug related but.... I think she will say anything to better position herself for roles/awards/etc, and it is just spin not necessarily the truth. Not to take anything away from her as a single mom but still it's hard to know what's real when it comes to her.

ReplyDeleteNeither Clooney, Oldman or Pitt would shock me. I don't know that many people know enough about Bichir or Dujardin to be shocked or not.
The girls: Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Rooney Mara, Meryl Streep, Michelle Williams
Mara and Williams would not shock me in the least.
So its gotta be Close, Davis or Streep in my eyes. For some reason my gut says Close.

Meryl Streep-TOTALLY SHOCKING!!Michelle Williams-Totally shocking considering the prim and proper package she delivers, but again-no significant other
@Bnl - the blind doesn't specify it's lead actor/actress - it could be supporting.

I'm sure he sleep with lots of guys and Stacey is well aware. Brad Pitt wouldn't even be a shock. I'm sure he's sleeping with lots of other women behind Angie's back.
Meryl Streep or Glenn Close...now that would be a shock to me.
Michelle doesn't have a significant other does she? That leaves her out.

OK...now I know who Viola Davis is-she attended Julliard and called it a "hot mess." She is classically trained and has done a lot of Broadway. She also said that she and her husband spent the weekend at George Clooney's Lake Como estate. They just adopted a little girl last year. I hope it's not her. But it would be shocking.

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking we could rule out people who are married since Enty says "significant other." I might be wrong about that, but it is my assumption. Assuming it's only best & not supporting we have:

Gary Oldman - married. If Enty is including marrieds, I wouldn't think he'd be a shock since he's on his fourth marriage
Brad Pitt - could be shocking

Rooney Mara - not married, don't know if it would be a shock though with rumors about her hooking up on the Dragon set
Meryl Streep - married
Michelle Williams - no significant other that I've heard about.
I guess it could be supporting though:
Kenneth Branagh - married
Jonah Hill - not married but has a girlfriend
Nick Nolte - not married. Not sure about a significant other
Christopher Plummer - married
Max von Sydow - married
Berenice Bejo - as someone else said, married to her director
Jessica Chastain - not married, not sure about significant other
Melissa McCarthy - married
Janet McTeer - didn't find anything about being married
Octavia Spencer - didn't find anything about being married
The unmarried ones I think we could exclude because they're either unattached at present or it wouldn't be a big scandal if they cheated. Of the marrieds, I would say Brad, Glenn, Meryl, Melissa, Berenice, & Christopher.
Wow, that was a lot more interesting than working today.
I doubt it includes the supporting category. Best Actor/Actress means Best Actor or Actress. Not second banana. In Hollywood its a huge difference and Enty being in the fish bowl I would assume has to know that. If it were to include all 4 categories I think it would have specified. Enty always specifies if it includes the supporting category as well.

ReplyDeleteI think what would shock us is the age of the person, as in old age. So let's look at the seniors here for best and supporting, there's quite a few as it happens. And remember Significant Other can also be a spouse...I'd hope they'd be significant.

ReplyDeleteI agree it could be Cloose, Streep, or Pitt but I also think Williams should still be in the running. She does have a kid after all so it would be kind of surprising that she's out having a raging bender and leaving her kid alone/with someone else ALL night. Plus hasn't there been talk she's seeing someone recently but keeping it on the down low? If she isn't seeing someone though then it can't be her since there is no S.O.

Now...Meryl...that would shock me to death. McCarthy...hasn't been around long enough to shock me enough. Really it would just be Meryl or Glenn...mostly Meryl though. I'm going with Meryl.

ReplyDeleteIt's Meryl. She is totally a drinker and a real fun gal....this is shocking because she's the queen of Hollywood and controls her public image so well. Plus she's over 50, and that's way past the cut-off for a casual sex image.

I wonder what Enty considers an "epic bender". Sounds like basically a weekend party. Whatever it is, and whomever this is, they probably don't do this sort of thing all the time like Lilo or Courtney Love. And if you ask me, blowing off a little steam once every couple of months after a lengthy film shoot isn't that bad of a thing as long as it is not a weekly occurance and you can still do your job. Whoever it is, I would love to party with them.

SusanB - is correct. Meryl has had affairs with co-stars. Most notable is Jack Nicholson. The late, great Army Archerd - from the trade publication, Variety - did a blind item on this encounter. The "alleged" affair went on for a while. And, yes Meryl's husband is quite the Cuckold. Considering his uneventful career, I guess tolerating Meryl's dalliances are worth it $$ to him.

ReplyDeleteCan't be Oldman, he stated on Jimmy Kimmel that he was in the middle of his last interview for TTSS in Berlin when his manager interrupted the interview to say he had been nominated.
ReplyDeleteIf this were Brad Pitt or Michelle Williams i would be shocked. Brad because Angie seems to keep him on such a tight leash and because he is a homebody with that childarmy of him. Michelle gives off this smug, holier than thou, goody two shoes vibe for me. Also I don't think she was even the slightest oblivious to Heaths lifestyle and was probably in on it before Matilda came along, now that the kid gets older it's real easy to fall into old patterns.
