Whitney Houston Has Died

Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.

  5. A friend posted the news on Facebook...shocking. And what saucyjane said.

  6. I was so hoping that the news about the XFactor gig meant that she was continuing to recover, and ready for a comeback. MJ, Amy and now Whitney... Sadness.

  7. I am really sad about this! I really thought she'd get it together. I don't know, she was my one of my faves and then she went on that steady decline and I just got more and more bummed. So talented and beautiful but clearly a lot of demons. I feel badly for her daughter. I

  10. I wasn't expecting this at all. I know she had her problems, but still... R.I.P, Whitney.

  11. I'm shocked and sad, sad, sad. What a waste.

    ReplyDelete
  12. So sad. Must have more details. Freaking out!! This is crazier to me than MJ. Wonder if she was still using?!?!

Seems like tragedy strikes on Grammy eve more often than not. Hmmm.

  13. Wow. Can't say I'm surprised.. but I am.. :(
    RIP Whitney

  14. And I'm so shocked that I forgot to say RIP. May she finally find peace.

  15. Susan- look at dlisted's photos from yesterday. Tragic.

    1. I had seen the pics earlier - thought this might be a hoax because of the pics from dlisted? But I'm seeing a lot of reliable sources reporting the story so I'm realizing this must be true. Sad.

  16. Omfg, this one is sad. She was so incredibly talented; and yet so troubled. CNN is being very careful not to mention a cause of death, but at such a young age, I hope this becomes a big warning sign to many people about the horrors of drugs. Even if an od was not the cause of death, it severely hurt her body for sure. She was so young. Rip Whitney.

  17. If you view Whitney in a video like "How will I know", it's even more heartbreaking. She was so beautiful, talented and charismatic. What a loss. My thoughts go out to er family, especially her daughter and mother.

  18. Sweet Jesus. This hits harder than MJ for me. Wow. Just. . . Wow. RIP Whitney

  19. Just saw this at Google News. So very sad. Just so unnecessary too, I think. Bad marriages can be deadly as hell.

Goodbye Whitney. I hope you find some peace.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Very sad, but I can't say it comes as much of a surprise. I did think LiLo would go first. Terrible for her family, especially her daughter.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The dlisted pics are that much more tragic. I just wish peace onto her and hope her enablers rot in hell for taking such a beautiful voice and person from us.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh my lord! I am stunned. This is horrible news. Words fail me.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So sad for her daughter and family who loved her.
It's not a shock that it happened, just a shock that it happened this soon. RIP.

    ReplyDelete
  24. WTF? Wow. I thought she had cleaned herself up somewhat.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Bad bad news. I was always pessimistic about her because the main reason most coke users stop is financial. For someone with unlimited wealth, or access to $1000 bucks in cash every day, it's quite hard to stop. For Whitney, it was clear she was never going to make a comeback. If nothing else, tastes have changed so much that she wouldn't be able to have Top Ten hits, even if she had pulled it together. Bad, bad, sad news.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I saw Whitney when I was in 5th grade-height of her fame. I still remember her stunning beauty & voice nearly 3 decades (yikes!) later...

I am not surprised only b/c I saw her in that Being Bobby Brown reality show & didn't think she'd make it this long.

    ReplyDelete
  27. sad news indeed, that being said- she is NOT in a better place, she is in a body bag!

    ReplyDelete
  28. TMZ posted pictures of her this last week and she looked like sobriety was a far off place in her rear view mirror. She was coming out of clubs and was with ray j. What a horror damn waste of a life and talent. So sorry for her child who has had two parents with severe issues that just left her to fend for herself. Hope her family can bring that poor kid so peace!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. You know, Micheal Jackson dying didn't really make me feel much...THIS makes me cry :'( rest in peace, Whitney, and may your next life be drug free and beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  30. back in the day she was so lovely..fresh and had a talent that still shines above most. She was her own worst enemy. How sad that the last two decades she had pretty much destroyed her voice, and her looks, and how sad also that she will probably be more remembered for the joke that she became rather than the incredible beauty and talent that she was.

    ReplyDelete
  31. RIP Whitney,

Like most have said this isn't shocking, she's been a crackhead for well over 20 years. I never knew my father growing up, but the first time we ever met he broke the ice by telling me how he went to a bar, and saw a (then un-signed, unknown struggling artist) Whitney Houston performing, and he mentioned that he told everyone THEN that she was cracked out of her mind. No one listened to him until her infamous "crack is whack" interview.....

But anywho, sadly this will probably come back as an OD or her heart giving out from too much drug use. Hopefully she is in a better place, and hopefully Bobby Brown doesn't become a dick and try to make money off her passing....and most importantly HOPEFULLY someone will pull Bobby Kristina aside and help her, because she's just like her mama...

    ReplyDelete
  32. I keep trying to get dlisted to see these pics y'all are referencing and tmz, and my shit keeps freezing up.

She looked good in the pic earlier this week from the Jordin Sparks movie on CDAN.

  33. I gasped when I saw this headline. My God. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  34. "no matter what they take from me, they can't take away my dignity..."

    RIP gorgeous lady.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Didn't want this to be true. I always held out hope that she could turn herself around, if not for herself, for her daughter.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, I saw the Dlisted one yesterday and was sad...forgot all about the Clive Davis pre- Grammy party where she was scheduled to perform.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Chrissy Buns, I don't want to blow my macho image, but I just had to go put cold water on my face because it made me cry, too. I didn't want the Whitney story to end like this.

    ReplyDelete
  38. LaLa - I don't think it's a hoax. It's on a lot of credible news sites and TV stations.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @Susan, it is the D-Mail but lots of pics from 2436 hours ago: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2099347/Whitney-Houston-emerges-nightclub-looking-worse-wear.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

    ReplyDelete
  40. No hoax. The police dept just held a press conference. She passed away at 3:55pm. It feels unreal that I learned of this on the news less than two hours after she died. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  41. I wish they could get Adele or another big voice to sing "The Greatest Love of All" as a tribute tomorrow. A singer who really could do Whitney justice without having to be the diva---somebody like Mariah or Beyonce would make it too much about themselves, I'm afraid.
    Just thinking out loud here.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Um no one else noticed that Enty didn't come up with this post on his own...it is word for word the exact post the AP sent out for news stations posting this story. I don't know who to link it on my iPad but I came here read this story then went on my fb & my local NBC station NBC CT 30 has an AP article that is much longer than this post but the first paragraph is what Enty copied & pasted for his....

    ReplyDelete
  43. thank you, .robert. Just saw a bunch of pics from another site. Also, read a story that she got into a fight over the weekend after performing? Does anyone know if this is true?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Maya Rudolph is on SNL tonight. I imagine they're scrambling to find new skits.

Yes, it is sad. But, unfortunately, she did this to herself and certainly helped Bobbi Kristina along her way. Like kj said, hope the Houston family can help her.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Libby- completely agree. I need them to hustle to make this happen. Unreal voice- no need for a selfish singer to make her own a la xtina with "at last"

    ReplyDelete
  46. So fucking sad. I really truly hope that this is not drug related. I lost my mother six years ago to addiction. She was thirty eight when she died. There isn't a day go by when the hurt goes away. My heart goes out to her family. I hope Bobbi- Kristina has a strong core behind her. Also if Lindsay is smart she will use the deaths of Amy, MJ and others in the industry as a wake up call. Apologies for the rambling.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow. Just like Ida, this one made me gasp. I really wasn't expecting this.

Maybe it will be a wake up call for others who think that drugs won't kill them (hey, Lindsay, I'm talking to you.)

    ReplyDelete
  48. She was so beautiful and talented, this is just terribly sad.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Easy top ten talent of the 20th century; such a loss :(

    ReplyDelete
  50. RIP. I was really hoping that she was going to get it together for an amazing comeback.

    ReplyDelete
  51. EXACTLY Lindsey. That's why I mentioned Adele. She's not a showboat.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Lindsay just called her fucking dealer.

  53. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYzlVDlE72w&ob=av2e

The young queen as she should be remembered.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It is strange how fast her reps sent out the message. It seems like they must have been prepared for this.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I was not expecting to hear this news. She has a movie, "Sparkle," coming out on August 10th. RIP Whitney.

    ReplyDelete
  56. My sister and I have followed her career ever since we saw her modeling in Seventeen magazine when we were teenagers. We are also from NJ and have had Whitney sightings over the years. (some good sightings, some bad)
I've always been pulling for her. This is really sad.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Damnit Whitney.

Someone posted this on FB and I couldn't believe it.

CNN played the video of "The Greatest Love of All" and she looked so young and happy.

    Damnit Whitney.

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Libby: Yes, it would be a perfect tribute to Whitney for Adele to sing that song. My friend just called me to tell me this very sad news. I used to sing that song at auditions (obviously nowhere near as good as Whit). I loved her. So very tragic. Hmm...How long before Courtney or Lilo make a reference to themsleves? Just awful her passing. My heart goes out to her family.

    ReplyDelete
  59. This is horrible!
RIP Whitney, I hope your finally at peace.
    I'm so sad right now.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @casual- yes, I gasped as well. My hubs was like- you are gonna be absent for a few bc he knows my love for gossip, but not sad goss. I'm soo sad.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sherry--I think the song fits Adele, too, with everyone judging her and saying crass things all the time.

It better not be Beyonce, I'm sorry, but she is self-absorbed and INSINCERE. JMO.

    ReplyDelete
  62. As much as I'd hate the ego boost it would give her, I think any tribute should be sung by a black artist(s), which probably makes Beyonce the best option. I know we're supposed to be color blind and all, but I think she was more important to the black community than she was to people in general, and that would be most appropriate.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Someone like Aretha would be a lot better than Bey, obviously.

    ReplyDelete
  64. So sad, such an amazing voice. With Madonna she basically was the female voice of the 80s
It's sad when anyone dies but I'm with a few others, this is hitting me more than Michael did.
Going to be watching her videos on You Tube tonight and hoping she gets lots of shout outs at the Grammys

    ReplyDelete
  65. I was seriously shocked when I heard the news. I was not a big fan, but did appreciate that she was a very talented woman.

    Sad for her family.

  67. I'm shocked and saddened. Her daughter is at an age where she still really needs her mother. It's really sad.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Firstly, AliB936, I am sorry about your mom - that is brutal.

I got an alert from the NY Times while watching some ridiculous movie on HBO and my jaw about hit the floor. So, so tragic because she had so many opportunities and so much raw talent.

Is Dlisted down? I can't get on there...

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm thinking Dlisted is down. I can't get it either.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm so sorry to hear this but it isn't shocking to me. She was gorgeous. I have a friend in Korea who is going to be devastated.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Clive Davis canceled his Grammy Party. CNN is reporting it might be a suicide but I think it will turn out to be a heart attack from too much damage to her heart from all the drug use.

    ReplyDelete
  72. CNN just said Jennifer Hudson may do the tribute

    ReplyDelete
  73. CNN is saying JHud will do a tribute---I had forgotten about her! Perfect choice!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Dlisted has CRASHED. Given the reader demographic, no big surprise.

I vote for Adele to sing a tribute tomorrow. I'm with a few of you in saying that she will do a classy and understated job.

I wasn't planning on watching the Grammy's, but now I'll probably tune in. To be honest, no celeb death has rocked me harder than Princess Diana's. But this is yet another childhood icon of mine suddenly gone. It's shocking, despite the copious warning signs throughout the years.

    Her poor daughter. :-( Jeez.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm glad you said it first Ida. I felt like this when Princess Diana died. Whitney was integral in my dating life. I just wanted her to get better.

    ReplyDelete
  76. ...and Jennifer Hudson would be perfect! Absolutely.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Really- I don't want Jennifer Hudson to do it- Whitney's voice (in its prime) was sweet and rich, while JHud's voice, while strong, screeches and she screams when she hits those high notes. No thanks. Honestly, it'll be hard to find someone whose voice is can come anywhere cLose to Whitney's.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Jennifer Hudson will do a great tribute, I wasn't going to watch the Grammy awards but now I have to watch.
Dlisted is still down, I remember seeing those awful pics of her looking blitzed on there just a few days ago.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Fox News reported that Whitney was found in the bathtub by her brother Michael. Medics tried to revive her for 20 minutes to no avail.

    ReplyDelete
  80. @ KLM thank you, I appreciate it. Dlisted has been down for a while now. I can't get on either.

    ReplyDelete
  81. This is so sad and tragic and it makes me mad too. IMO Bobby Brown ruined her. She was sooooooooo freaking talented. I feel for her mother and daughter and other family members.
    Sorry, had to vent.
    RIP Whitney...

    ReplyDelete
  82. I was wondering wtf was going on over at dlisted... :/ Guess it's time for new servers, michael k!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Terrible news, but I had a feeling this would happen. She just couldn't get it together. She was so amazing. RIP, Whitney. You were loved and will be so very missed.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Fox News also said she had spoken to Dione and her mother just a half hour earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  85. What I am wondering is why there's even a question about whether "foul play" was involved in her death? The woman was a famous drug addict and was living in a hotel room. What more evidence do you need? Girl was murdered by crack- not Jack.

    ReplyDelete
  86. @ Moon it really isn't fair to blame Bobby. Whitney could have already had a drug problem before she met Bobby. Sometime's addicts stick together. I'm far from a Bobby fan but she was responsible for her own choices.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Whitney had a stunning natural voice unlike all of the enhanced performers today. May she finally be at peace. What a terrible, terrible waste.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I only just saw this as the lead story on the 10 p.m. news here in Boston...oh my God. :-( I'm not completely surprised, but I had hoped that, even if her voice was shot, she could at least clean up, have a good life, and be there for her daughter. I'm just stunned...

    ReplyDelete
  89. lutefisk--I just watched her version of our National Anthem and was thinking exactly what you just pointed out---that voice was ALL REAL. The best version you'll ever hear:

  90. Em+E --she was at the Beverly Hilton, which is where Clive Davis' party was being held. She was attending. I don't think she was living there--Not unusual to check in for an event.

  91. Whitney Houston had problems with drugs long before Bobby Brown ever appeared on the scene.

And who said she lived in a hotel? Surely they were putting her up for the Grammy's.

    ReplyDelete
  92. She was not living in the Bev Hills Hilton. She lived in Jersey.

So much shit is going to come out now about her. OMG.

This is going to be a mess.

    ReplyDelete
  93. R.I.P. Whitney. The world has lost another legend. So effin sad.

    ReplyDelete
  94. And may I add fuck Dr. Drew. I cannot stand him. I feel like he relishes these types of stories because they keep him in the press. Ugh I am way to emotional about this.

  95. This comment has been removed by the author.

  96. RIP Whitney. One of the best ever! Maybe Enty has some BIs to reveal now......

    ReplyDelete
  97. She isn’t a legend and she won’t be. She was singer, bad actress and a drug addict. She has been a mess for 20 years. She didn’t save lives, she sang some songs, so please stop the over the top crap.

I feel bad for her daughter because she lost her mother.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I remember years ago working at Arista when she was just starting out. All the honchos were planning her big breakout album and she was hiding in the bathroom, sneaking a cigarette when I went in. She looked very shy and scared, and looked at me like I was going to tell on her. I just said "hello" and smiled, but it was clear she was not a person comfortable in her own skin. I saw in her concert after the release, and her discomfort at having to entertain was obvious. The girl just wanted to sing, and all the trappings were not good for her. So sorry, for her mom especially, and her daughter. RIP Whitney. That girl sure could sing.

    ReplyDelete
  99. TMZ reporting she and group were partying pretty hard last night. Davis party going on but Clive at home with friends. Also that Mom Cissy spoke with her 1/2 hour before she was found and seemed fine. Dionne Warwick spoke to her aroundnoon to confirm they were sitting at the same table at the dinner tonight. Warwick said to be devestated and Cissy "hysterical"...per TMZ.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I remember her from seventeen magazine as well. She was so gorgeous. Condolences to her family.

  101. RIP. Sad day. Nothing else to say today from this child of the 80s.

    ReplyDelete
  102. ((((AliB936)))) - I feel your pain - I lost my mom to an overdose 3 years ago. She was in her 60s but it doesn't matter - she was too effing young. And so was Whitney - she was only a couple of years older than me. This is bringing back all of the hurt surrounding the loss of my mother. I agree - this is so. fucking. sad. My heart goes out to you Ali - much love to you.

  103. From the la times:
    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2012/02/whitney-houston-dead-erratic-behavior.html

The Hilton is the scene for Davis’ annual gala. On Thursday, Houston dropped by the rehearsals to offer vocal tips for Brandy and Monica, who were slated to be one of the evening’s headliners.

Press, including The Times, were in attendance for a junket with the reunited R&B divas and Davis. Though Houston greeted people her with a warm smile, she appeared disheveled in mismatched clothes and hair that was dripping wet with either sweat or water.

The visibly bloated singer displayed erratic behavior throughout the afternoon -- flailing her hands frenetically as she spoke to Brandy and Monica, skipping around the ballroom in a child-like fashion and wandering aimlessly about the lobby. It was mentioned by a Grammy staffer that security personnel received calls of the singer doing handstands by the pool.

After leaving rehearsals, Houston returned to the ballroom -- with her teenage daughter Bobbi Kristina in tow -- as camera crews set up for interviews. The singer smelled of alcohol and cigarettes. A Grammy staffer said that during the interviews with Brandy, Monica and Clive, Houston was dancing just off camera to make the singers and Davis laugh. Grammy personnel expressed concern that she'd be caught on camera, and that reporters would write about her behavior.

Finally her daughter pulled Houston out of the room, and the singer skipped off. In our post of the event, we called Houston's behavior "loose and lively."

  104. RIP Whitney. I read your bio on wikipedia and you did a lot more than I ever knew about.

The fact that they did not take her to the hospital..

    ReplyDelete
  105. @Susan...oh even sadder to know her daughter was there with her...more likely than not staying at the hotel as well.

    ReplyDelete
  106. @ Interplanet Janet

Thank you so much for your kind words. I was 20 when my mom died. The pain never ever goes away. I believe it hurts more when you've tried to get help for you're loved one and they don't respond to it. Sending love your way as well.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Nosey! How can you be thinking of a BI right now????

    ReplyDelete
  108. @unknown.....
I just had the courage to bring up what most Enty followers are probably thinking. The gossip world and Hollywood are cut throat, and the BIs are on my mind..... Always

    ReplyDelete

    1. Agreed ...the only reason i read this crap, and it is just crap, is to escape. Everyone has at least one escape and BI's are my fix.

  110. @Susan: Thanks for the post. Such embarrasing details.

There is no voice as good as Whitney's. Not Celion, Mariah, Midler, Christina, Kelly Clarkson. None. I have yet to hear someone as good as her's. She was THE BEST. I grew up with her music since early 1992. Such a sad life at the end. Watching her fall has been terrible. This was expected, but even then, a sad, sad loss to a tremendous talent.

    ReplyDelete
  111. her life was like a Jackie Collins novel and ended like one.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I was and still am devastated by this news. I wanted to BE Whitney when I was 15. She was so beautiful and talented.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I can't stop thinking about this. I know I shouldn't be shocked, but I am. What a loss. What a shame.

    ReplyDelete
  114. This black female celebrity has put on weight since she got older but she prefers the thin look. So much so, that she’s allegedly taking laxatives to get the extra pounds off. Her weight gain isn’t really that noticeable to the public but she’s freaking out about it behind the scenes.

Due to her laxative use, she has to wear adult diapers in case she has an unexpected accident.

One day, she was fidgety, she missed her drugs (crack or powdered cocaine). She contacted her former dealer, he told her to come over.

It was then that she realized, she had no cash on her, only credit/debit cards. But she needed a fix-bad. Against her better judgment, she made a spare of the moment decision to trade sex for drugs aka (strawberry). She also reasoned, she hadn’t had sex with a man in months, she craved a man’s touch.

She must have forgotten that she had an accident earlier and smelled like a spoiled diaper. I guess she didn’t care, as long as she got her drugs.

After the sex, she left with the drugs.

The drug dealer got on the phone (telling people) that he had to use an entire can of air freshener in his bedroom because she left it smelling like an out house.

This dealer is known for making sex tapes, she better hope he didn’t make a tape of them together. He could fetch top dollar for it.

Unbeknownst to her, her much younger relative is now copping drugs from the same dealer.

    Who is she?

    Whitney?Bobbi??????

    ReplyDelete
  115. This former A list singer who is now pretty much just a celebrity was being honored at an event recently. Just because you are being honored does not mean you cannot take a smoke break. The thing is that our singer took smoke breaks with her crack pipe. Yep. Three times that night, the singer joined others outside and while they were smoking cigarettes, our singer smoked some crack. It is not like she has not been doing it for 20 years, it is just that it seemed out of place at an event designed to honor her.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Princess Powder Puff???

    ReplyDelete
  117. @Snap!
I don't think the dealer is Bobbi, I think it would have referred to him as something more significant to her. As far as the other BIs go, I def agree!

  121. In that case, I think u r right on. Does anyone think suicide?

    ReplyDelete
  122. The Coroner's Office/LAPS are still on scene and they've not removed her body. Looks like they're dotting all the 'i's and crossing all the 't's.

    ReplyDelete
  123. @ Nosey - I can't imagine suicide, but you never know. There were articles that came out earlier today that she was being considered for X Factor. If that's true, she would have been in a place where her career was making a turnaround. It would have given her another shot.

It's all so sad. I grew up singing her songs. She had an amazing voice and for awhile appeared to be a very amazing person. But then she started on the drug path and it led her here. I hope she is at peace.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Hard for me to believe that she was SERIOUSLY being considered for X-factor. Wayyyyyy more erratic than Paula. But the possibility could have lifted her up....or the devastation of not getting the part could have brought her down.......

    ReplyDelete
  125. Simon Cowell addressed it on CNN tonight and said you know how rumours get started someone puts a feeler out and then it is fact and I would have considered it but there had been nothing firm and I cannot say if she would have considered it honestly. It sounded like there had been no discussions at ALL about it.

  127. Redundant but anyway, my all time favourite song. Thanks for the memories as a kid, Whitney.

  129. Stupid thing to post back there, but I just decided to take a jump on the internet and this is shocking, even though it shouldn't be. How very sad. When you read something like this, it's like a big piece of your life from many years ago gets torn away, along with the person - Whitney. She just looked so damned tired, and I hope she is at rest. :(

  130. Local news at 11 on the scene said her body was still in the hotel room. WTH?

    ReplyDelete
  131. Jeez, calm down a bit, SNAP. Her body isn't even cold yet. :(

  134. It didnt really hit me until I started watching her past performances ya'll recommended, as well as the OUTSTANDING, one of a kind performance she gave at the 1994 American Music Awards. Its a 3 song medley that lasts 10 MINUTES and shows her vocal range as she belts her heart out full stop for the entire duration of time. Best part? You can see her eyes and whole face smiling as she sings and the camera shows Bobbi-Kristina as a baby sitting on Bobby Brown's lap as he sits and moves to the music, his face beaming as he mouths the words she is singing, clearly so proud of her.

    Dammit, this is fucking lame.

I dont care who is to blame for her starting drugs, she revealed to Oprah that by the mid 90s that she was "doing marijuana laced with rock cocaine everyday, and began losing herself".... I know there are people on this forum who've experienced times when they lose who they are, for some, including Whitney, the drugs opened up a path where I dont believe she fully found herself again.

This isnt about blind item juicy shit or morbid fascination about her demise, IMHO. To me, it's losing a strong female I grew up listening to and who, like so many others in this world, tried to dull out whatever pain they were feeling and ultimately, lost who they were. Im not putting a celebrity on a pedestal and mourning her as some kind of national hero. But as a fellow human being I'm sad to see a lost soul leave this earth in such a way. Especially such a bright light like her.
    RIP

  135. Thanks for posting this Enty!

I just found out at work tonight. It's so sad! She had just finished filming a new movie called Sparkle. I saw it as a sign that she had turned her life around and would become a big star again. The news shocked me. I saw her a Ray J on TMZ last week and never thought that she was about to die.

@Mooshki - Thanks for saying her body isn't even cold yet! It seems crazy to me that some posters are focusing on past blinds right now.

  136. UPDATE -

No illegal drugs have been found in the hotel room where Whitney Houston died -- at least not yet -- but prescription drugs were present, and it's possible the singer drowned in the bathtub ... TMZ has learned.

Sources tell us ... when EMTs arrived Whitney's body was already removed from the bathtub so it will take an autopsy to determine if she OD'd, drowned or died from some other cause.

Informed sources tell us ... Beverly Hills cops -- who were still searching the room at the time this story was posted -- found various pill bottles.

I grew up on Whitney songs & even performed at my schools talent show with my BFF when we were 12 to one of her songs RIP Whitney but no ones saying anything about how Enty couldn't post something original about her?

  138. Rest in peace Whitney. You had a beautiful voice. I don't know if she was using drugs before or after she became a star, but I can imagine the pressure she was under to stay the number one pop singer was immense and unfortunately, not everyone can handle and resort to drugs to calm their fears.

BTW, who cares if Enty came up with the wording for this post on his own? It was Saturday night and like most people, he was probably relaxing on the weekend, but saw the news and decided to post something quickly to let people know.

And after reading about her death, all you can do is criticize Enty about the language he used to convey a message about someone's DEATH? Jeez, go write your own damn blog if you think you can do a better job.

    Rest in peace, Whitney.

  139. Serena, someone up above already noted that the entry was from the ap story. And given that enty posted this on the fly, in response to breaking news, I give him a pass. He clearly wanted a post up, and it takes time to craft something. Enty has a life, so I doubt he was sitting at home watching tv, waiting for Whitney to die.

Another reason he may not have written something -- this one could just be too painful. Whitney was such a presence for my generation. I know that I still haven't posted anything to my Facebook, and I am almost always putting something up there. This death just hurts too much, like when lady di died. Maybe it's affecting enty that way, especially if he knew her.

Give enty a pass. He is only human and a one man shop. I'm just glad that we have this post so we can all express our grief.

  140. I'm still in a bit of shock about this. It seemed for a while like she might be getting it together, but apparently not.

Such a loss. Her talent was unreal. There are a lot of good singers, but not many with the kind of effortless power she had. Bless her.

  141. This was shocking to hear last night. Truly a huge loss of talent and hope. I had hoped she'd get it together and make a come back.

Sad sad sad. RIP Whitney and I wish peace and comfort to her daughter and family.

  143. That's a wonderful photo Enty posted, she looks beautiful.

Her style of music was never my thing, but growing up she was on MTV and you really couldn't miss her. She had the most amazing voice!

I had hoped, until Dlisted posted those photos a couple days ago, that she was cleaning up - with the movie and everything, I really thought she had this beat - I'm so sad, sad for her family and her fans, sad we lost a voice like that. But I also think she's at peace now, don't think she had much peace in her life. RIP Whitney, hope you're in a better place.

  144. Very well said Jasmine.

Perhaps Enty knew her personally and was even her friend - or attorney. Perhaps he is devastated right now.

  145. I'm still in shock this morning, I know that she had many issues but damn I never thought she would go out like that.
    Addiction is a bitch.

To those posting about Whitney BL's, the women hasn't been dead 24 hours yet show some respect and wait a while.

  146. Jennifer Holliday was on HLN and talked about she and Whitney and their friendship and how awful the pressure is when you are going to have to sing in a huge show knowing your voice was not up to the task. If you saw the clip of her and Kelly Price singing on Thursday night...it is heartbreaking. None of the HLN commentators said anything but she sounded hoarse and raspy...actually it was pretty bad, it must have been terrifying to know how far she had fallen in this of all venues, one that was her domain for two decades and that she still had to perform. Addiction is a bitch and all I can say is there but for the grace go I.

  147. This is very sad - probably not that surprising considering her history of drug use, but still...she was just so fucking talented!

"The visibly bloated singer displayed erratic behavior throughout the afternoon -- flailing her hands frenetically as she spoke to Brandy and Monica, skipping around the ballroom in a child-like fashion and wandering aimlessly about the lobby..."

That paragraph just creeps me the hell out.

  148. ...somewhere sits Beowulf and is peeved that this happened now because the media became less interested in her family life and newly released photos of her new purchase...

  149. Someone posted a link to a site that's talking about this being the illuminati (sp?) and that they sacrificed her so that Jennifer Hudson could be the next big thing. Clive Davis had had enough.... unbelievable what people will come up with, but the timing does seem horribly coincidental with the Grammy's and now Jennifer Hudson doing the tribute. RIP Whitney, not sure whether to believe you were always a druggie from the hood and had the image makeover, or you were a wonderful churchgoing model, with the voice of an angel, who was dragged down by Bobby Brown and could never recover. I prefer to think the latter is true, but must admit to wavering now.... so sad either way. What a waste.

  150. This made me so incredibly sad yesterday.

Even though we all saw it coming, perhaps a mile away, it's still shocking. And awful, given the circumstances of how she died. :(

She had one of the most beautiful, purest voices I'd ever heard. I'm sorry she could not overcome the demons. She had so much talent.

    R.I.P. Whitney
