Courteney Cox Had A Date

Yesterday Chateau Marmont's patio was busy. You had Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson at lunch and you had Courteney Cox and a guy in a suit at night sipping on martinis. No pictures of the couple. Let me tell you a little something about the patio at Chateau Marmont. You can look at your cell phone, but the second you hold it up like you are going to take a photo someone will appear out of nowhere and tell you that no photos are allowed, and then ask if they can get you another $18 drink. Sure, you can be sneaky, but it can be tough to be sneaky and aim your phone in the right direction and still get a shot. I used to drink martinis a lot. I stopped though about the same time I realized I always ended up drinking them in two swallows. It is the design of the glass. I thought about asking them to be served in a highball glass, but then people ask you what you are drinking and you say a martini and then ask how come it is not in a martini glass and so at some point you get tired of telling the tale and order something different. Courteney and her guy stayed until midnight which is a pretty late night for her.

  1. Well if that's the case I now understand why it's so popular.

  2. Martinis & Bloody Marys get me in trouble. Especially when you involve olives.

  3. "involve olives". Say THAT three times fast, Dixie.

  4. ^Have you tried it? It's nearly the same noise I make when I'm about to barf.

  5. Good for Courtney - she deserves some happiness.

I drink martinis really slowly, because they are so strong. More than one tiny sip and I'm coughing up a lung.

  6. I'm so happy for Courtney. Rockin babe and it's about time she moves on.

...she just needs to lay off the botox a little. I love Cougar Town, but her face looks funny lately.

  7. I know exactly what you mean crila! CC has always been gorgeous, but I watched C-Town a few weeks ago and was distracted by it. On the other hand, I thought Christa Miller looked great.

Garlic-stuffed or almond-stuffed olives are two of the most delicious foods on the earth that don't involve cheese or chocolate.

    Especially when gin-soaked.

  10. $18 drinks? So glad I live in a city where you can still get drinks on the cheap. I had a couple of martinis in a hotel bar recently, and they were $10. We nearly stroked out when we got the check. That's way too expensive for NOLA.

  11. I paid 12 dollars for a drink St. Paddy's Day weekend - which was mostly all milk. What a rip.

I'd gladly pay $$$ if I could get a good martini. It's next to impossible to get a good, dry gin martini in my city. I know I should change my order when I'm asked if I want it "on the rocks."

  13. @ Anita- that's ridiculous. Next time, tell the bartender to pour 2 oz of gin over ice in a shaker, stir it a few times and let it sit, rim a chilled martini glass with dry vermouth, then strain the gin from the shaker into the glass. That's literally all you need to do to make a great gin martini *shakes head*

  14. Actually, put a few drops of scotch into the shaker first, shake and then drain any liquid. Then add the gin.

  15. I always wondered why there were never photos of celebs at the Chateau Marmont. They're always there, but there's never any pictures! That's probably why celebs like it so much.
