How A Tweet Changed A Life

Apparently Justin Bieber can do something with his 20 million followers on Twitter and Carly Rae Jepsen is an example of that. Just two months ago, no one had heard of the Canadian singer. Then, two months ago, Justin Bieber was home in Canada, turned on the radio and heard Carly Rae's song (she finished third on Canadian Idol). He tweeted that he loved it, millions of fans agreed and now she is signed to Justin's company; he made a video of her song with Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale; and she performed at Justin's 18th birthday party. Talk about going from nowhere to the number one digital download and traveling all over to play in such a short time. Do you think Justin can heal the sick or does he just leave that to Oprah?

  1. I know Carly from the Canadian media circut and she's an amazing girl!! This makes me so happy for her, plus I love that Biebs seems like he's actually a pretty cool kid.

  2. Crap. I'm going to end up liking the Bieber at some point. This combined with helping that little sick girl shows he has an awareness of others. I hope, at least.

  4. It's a fun song and fun video - and this is coming from someone that has NEVER heard Bieber sing. :)

  5. Ok, that was really cute. It is nice to see teenagers acting like goofy teenagers for once.

  9. What is happening? I actually love this. They looked just like friends having a blast. And a real couple. Wow.

  10. @Em - If I didn't pee myself from laughter at the majority of her funny comments, I'd <3 her all the time. Nobody can be perfect all the time. |^D

  11. Pee is a good reason not to consistently love her. Maja, you heard it here, first:

DIXIE LOVES YOU EXCEPT WHEN THERE'S URINE INVOLVED.

P.S. What I love about Maja (today) is that her comment of "I HATE THIS SONG I HATE IT" is next to a photo of her looking incredibly excited. Beautiful contrast.

  12. ^ awww ladies, you kill me!

I wonder if we can get him involved in a new project I want to start.

Blogging for Chocolate. ;)There would be no singing involved.....unless he managed to get us all a walking/sample tour of Ghiradelli. I would sing the whole Beatles Catalog while tap dancing if he could pull that off.

  13. I thought it was nice of JB until I got down to the "signed to Justin's comany". Then I immediately suspected that it more of a commercial cross-promotion than a helping hand.

  14. ^ LOL - I don't understand your project? I've seen on some other posts your comments about really needing chocolate but are you trying to get Justin Bieber to send you chocolate & saying 'I'll pass' on it being sent via singing Biebergram?

Sooo confused. But I love new projects & am all for spreading the word.

  16. Dixie & Em, I am really laughing out loud right now. You're right - my picture next to that statement makes it kind of perfect...*L* But you see, this song is already a radio hit in Canada, and I have HAD ENOUGH OF IT. And now it's stuck in my head again, although I have listened to the Dave Chappelle song twice to try to drown it out (no pun, etc.).

And don't worry about only loving me sometimes. I get that a lot.

  17. @Dixie - changing my profile pic to a water jug in 3... 2... 1... :)

Alas, nothing is made more interesting when accompanied by a photo of a manta ray. Don't change yours, Maja!

  18. Oh JEESH, Maja, I just got "drown it out"... !

  19. Maja - your photo is pretty much the icing on your comment cake.

Annnnd so glad I went for the giant owl mug today when getting coffee.

  20. @BigMama

I went out with my family for dinner this past weekend and I mentioned I had given up Starbucks for Lent and my aunt, who works for the RC church, told me that Jesus/God doesn't want people to give things up unless it makes them a better person, so giving up something that I like that doesn't make me a better person is pointless. So now, based on that, I am no longer giving up anything, but will take something on like having more patience with strangers.

I only mention this because I noticed that you might be struggling with not having chocolate. There's always next year.

  21. Oh.

I originally came here to say that when someone uses a banana like a phone I always laugh. Heh.

  22. @Sue Ellen - I joke about it alot. However, when I find I want some it reminds me of certain sacrifices greater than chocolate. It's my own private version of it. My daughter told me that it was ok to have it on Sundays. LOL The year I gave up on coffee just about killed us all.

  23. @Dixie - I will have to work on that. Maybe if we all just spend a day saying nice things about him, he will send us on that tour? I'm good with that.

  24. @BigMama

That's kinda how I feel too, but it's good to know that there are other options than just giving something up.

  25. Agreed! I will enjoy that nutty buddy in a few weeks though.

  26. Starbucks better look out because I am BARGING in there on Easter Sunday. I might even hoof the door open.

  27. Justin signed her and is going to make some big bucks off of her.

And talk about some low production values.

  28. I heard this song, and saw Jepsons video, and it is a great song, and the original video is cute too. It must be a blast for Carly to see other famous teens shooting their own video to it. And yes, that video was cute to. Nice to see kids doing a project like that, putting there all into it and just having fun!

I don't think it was Justin that signed her though, but Usher's company. Either way it is not a bad thing to happen to this girl and it is almost the same as what happened to Bieber. Nice to see he is paying it forward.

  29. I love this video. They're having fun, are fully clothed and aren't humping anything. Beyonce, Rhianna etc, take note.

  30. Same here, feraltart... And I could practically be the Bieb's gran. It's upbeat and I thought he was pretty low key in it, just some friends having fun.

  31. It's nice to see kids being kids for a change. Even though most of them are in their 20s. Being silly is good sometimes.

  32. This is the first time I've heard this song, so I didn't hate it. The video was cute. But if they start playing it on the radio in Creed-like fashion, I will probably hate it, too. ;)

  33. Justin and Selena look cute together. And I loved seeing those Big Time Rush kids. That Carlos kid is hot as hell (hope my 10-yr old daughter doesn't read this) ;-)
