Jennifer Love Hewitt Still Says No To Nudity

For as long as Jennifer Love Hewitt has been legal there have been producers lining up to get her to go naked for a movie. And for just as long, Jennifer has said no. She had a very long dry spell before Ghost Whisperer and I wonder if she was wavering at all about her no nudity pledge. Lots of people say it, but very very few go through their entire careers without getting at least topless for the cameras. Then, kind of like Halle Berry, once you do it once then you kind of are expected to do it everytime. While doing press for The Client List, Jennifer says she is perfectly happy to get almost naked but likes people to use their imagination. I can agree with her that it can definitely be sexier to have to use your imagination. Not that she has much choice since her show is on Lifetime. I also wonder at some point if she will change her mind. I admire her for sticking to her principles and not being swayed. It has been something she has been pretty adamant about since day one.

  1. Good for her for not selling out in that way.

  2. Agreed, good for her.

Also the first few seasons of Ghost Whisperer were quite good.
The last hundred or so were as stinky as shit melting in the sun. So obviously I expect The Client List to last until 2045, eye roll.

  3. I also say good for her. I think Kristen Bell is the same way.

  4. It's an anomaly these days if actresses don't do nude scenes. I just think that realistically simulating the sex act for a movie lacks imagination. It takes away the tension and I agree that it's better left to the imagination. Many of the older films are a lot steamier and sensual without a single stitch of clothing having been removed.

  5. I don't think going topless means you automatically sell out or lose respect as an actress (read: Kate Winslet). But if she says she's never doing nude, well I hope she sticks to her guns. And if she DOES do it, I hope the role is worth it and not gratuitous. Nudity can be very tasteful and an essential part of a storyline (meaning, not just sexual and/or t & a).

  6. I'd say good for her, too, if a part of me wasn't thinking she has a third nipple and that is the real reason. She digs the attention for sure.

  7. Let's just hope she doesn't wait until it's far too late, decide to take the plunge despite her former misgivings, and make a spectacle of herself in her dotage. Whoa!

  8. I've always found her cute, at the very least, but there was a photo of her last week on Dlisted that was truly frightening. It did not remotely resemble her.

  9. Why doesn't she get a body double. No need for everyone to go nude. I cannot blame her to sticking to her guns. Let's let peope use their imagination.

  10. Actually I think she got a breat reduction (yup you read that right) when she was quite young & the scars can be nasty (my friend had one at 16 & her boobs are still huge) plus JLH doesn't have that great a body from the waist down so frankly, I think she says no 'cause it don't look that great without clothes on.

    That is what I believe.

  11. I'm with @Robert. As the rolls dry up, she may get more and more desperate. At some point she may put down her guns and surrender to the nudity. Let's just hope that's sooner than later. Or it's Whoa! indeed.

  12. I think she says no because a) she has a bad self-image and b) she knows she isn't cut out for movies.

But I do applaud her stance, and I do agree with her 100% about leaving things to the imagination.

  13. good for her to sticking to her guns, but on the other hand, don't expect much of a career except handout from Lifetime.

  14. I don't think it means she has a bad self image. I just think she doesn't want to do it so why should she? Stick to your guns about what you are comfortable with and don't compromise on what you are not. It's not something that we should have to say "Oh, good for her, she is so moral" or think she is lacking in someway for not doing it. She doesn't want to do it so who cares? Her body, her choice.

She is still a craptastic actress, nude or not.

  15. Just tell her Audrey Hepburn did it once, BAM!, the clothes will come off.

  16. If she thought it would get her a husband...

  17. She doesn't need to. She's an A list TV actress. She's only getting older. People don't want to see old lady boobs...they want to see young fresh boobs. By the time her career is gone, she'll be too old to show them.

  18. She is one of the rare ones.

  19. I am not a prude, so I have no problem with nudity in films. What I do have a problem with is hypocrisy. It's usually the director, writer and producers who go on about artistic integrity and how very important nudity it for the film, and the actress pretty much parrots what she has been told. So, if nudity is SOOOOO very important for a cinematic masterpiece, how come males aren't doing full frontal like they seem to expect actresses do? If seeing breasts and vagina in a film is important to the story, where is the penis? I guess it isn't that important to the story. Bah.

I don't blame JLH for not doing nudity. She sees right though that double standard.

  20. I dont care about the females i want to see the males having more nudie pics!

  21. I hope she isn't saying no because of self esteem issues. She's cute. Good for her for standing up for herself regardless of the reason!

  22. I agree that nudity in a role doesn't necessarily mean someone is selling out.
However, I do think the roles JLH gets offered aren't that caliber. That's what makes it a good move for her to not sink to that level.

  23. yeah, but so did neve campbell also from party of five, but that tune changed after a few years...

  24. Wait, something positive on JLH? Now I'm convinced someone has taken over the role of "Enty" because he never had a kind word for the girl, ever.

  25. Why would she go nude? I don't think she is going for the same roles as Halle Berry or Charlize Theron. Sarah Jessica Parker doesn't do nudes either.

  26. Good for her! Not the hugest fan of her, but knowing this makes me admire her for that fact.

  27. I bet she has pancake nipples. Just kidding!
I think she knows where she stands career wise. With her status being what it is, if she agreed to nudity it would be some cheap role a half step above porn.
She's already been reduced to Lifetime, I doubt she wants to go lower than that.

  28. please. Actresses hold out on nudity for ONE reason, an ace in the hole they can play when thier career goes toes up.

  29. I am not bothered by medical nudity in a movie (for example, Emma Thompson's character dying at the end of Wit), but most other nudity does not advance the storyline so much as exploit the actress. Even when it's sexual nudity "critical" to the storyline...I don't buy it because there's almost never reciprocity-- not that I want to see that either, I just want the filmmaker to be honest about how NOT critical it really is to the story. Leave it to the mind of the viewer.
