Queen Latifah Wants You To Know Again That She Did Not Come Out

For the fifth or sixth time since hosting the Long Beach Pride Festival last month that she has not come out and did not come out and that she just was having fun. For her fifth attempt at explaining this whole thing, she gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly and said when she referred to the crowd as her people it was not what she meant. She didn't explain what she meant, but I'm guessing she meant people who watch her movies. She is really being adamant about this. She never really talks to the press and to do so repeatedly over this is interesting since she has always said in the past she won't talk about her personal life but has done so a lot now.

  1. It's her business, but I don't know why she's so worried about it. I don't think it'd affect her career at all. Everyone knows. Even people like my parents that done't even read gossip.
I wish her the best, she's very talented and beautiful.

  2. It's really her choice if she wants to come out or not, but it's such an open secret that I'd be shocked if anyone were actually shocked about it. I remember watching Ellen a couple years ago and she pretty much outed Queen Latifah anyways while making a joke about the shake weight.

  3. As I have said before, very rarely (Wandy Sykes being an exception) do people of color come out. It is in their eyes harmful to their career. It is hard enough getting roles in Hollywood as a person of color, now add gay/lesbian to it and it becomes even more so.

  4. If she keeps denying it, I have a hard time swallowing the it's-nobody's-business pill.

  5. I read about it yesterday and although I do wish she would just come out and support her people, I do understand her stance. It's her business and she doesn't want to discuss it. I hope she silently helps monetarily at least.

  6. Is it a secret if everyone knows? On one hand its her business and she shouldnt have to talk about it if she doesnt want to. But i have worked with many gay teens and a person like latifah "coming out" would be inspirational.

  7. She's laughing at all the interviewers. She knows we know, she just doesn't want to say it out loud. And the more they ask her, the more press she gets.

  8. Just another Hollywood hypocrite. Always speaking for and backing gay marriage, yet refuse to come out themselves. Who cares if you're gay or not, just don't treat me like I'm stoopid.

  9. FSP I totally agree. Queen Latifah could inspire soooo many young girls by proudly coming out.

Also, <3 your avatar. NOW Blohan looks like LIz!

There are a lot of cultural reasons why QL hasn't come out. We all know it, she knows we know it, and she's not insulting my intelligence but it will be a long time if she confirms it, if ever.

It's a lot more complicated than being an inspiration or a hypocrite.

  11. Agreed with FSP. I think it was a weak response on her part. Can't make your bed and lie in it either, Queen.

  12. In, out, over, under, sideways- we love ya any old way ! It is insulting that u hv to stand up in public and declare u r sexual preference. She must hv her reasons for keeping mum. Lol, the Queen does not speak!!

  15. Comedy is her thing. She's fucking with the press. Every time she denies she's gay, she must crack herself up.

  18. I can't blame her for wanting to protect her career even if it does come across as hypocritical to gays, I can't even begin to understand what it must be like to live a lie on a daily basis just because you fear how others will judge you.

  19. I adore her, something about her is just magnetic, and I wish she'd do more movies.

I wish she'd come out tho, be completely "out and proud" as an inspiration to kids...

  20. I agree that it's her choice if and when to come out, but her gf must be terribly hurt right now with all the denials.

  21. Good Lord, can we please all just get over the who's-sleeping-with-who drama already? I really do not care. I like Queen Latifah and it would not change my opinion of her one iota to find out she was a lesbian, nor would I care if she were straight.

  22. You know, actually, I don't feel it's any of my (our) business. But I agree (Jaiden), if she does have a GF, if must hurt terribly to be denied.

  23. .. all I know is her duet with Al Green on "Simply Beautiful" is tremendous and is sung for us all..

  24. Actually, I'm offended by the repeated denials. If she really didn't want to address her sexuality then she could have just walked away and moved on. But repeatedly denying her sexuality and and what she meant by "my people" is insulting. Why insult a group of people to "save" yourself?
