Random Photos Part Two

Suri Cruise really wants some ice cream.
Apparently crying helps. Look at Katie Holmes' face.
Kate Winslet on the set of Labor Day. When are they going to make a movie called President's Day. Some serious s**t goes down that day.
Kim Zolciak on her honeymoon.
Nicole Richie, Joel Madden and the brood come back from Australia.
Snooki and Jwowww. I saw a ten minute clip of their new show and it actually looks decent.
Sofia Vergara and her son. I always forget she has a son.
I should have put Katey Sagal on top. Pretend she is the top photo today.Love her.
Vanessa Lachey shows off her bump and her dog.

  2. I know she's just a kid, but Suri Cruise terrifies me. I've seen kids who've behaved like that and it didn't end well.

  3. Maybe its the order of the pictures but one moment she is in tears then she gets what she wants and has a devilish smirk on her face. This little girl is baaaaaaad news, lol.

  4. Gawd, I hate skinny jeans.

Also, J-Woww looks much better these days.

  5. I hate to speak ill of children, but Suri: Not cute.

  6. I love Katey Sagal too, but I hope that's a costume for an 1980s show she's wearing!

  7. I refuse to believe kids can't be sociopaths. Suri Cruise, case in point. She probably tears wings off butterflies and then cries and screams because they don't fly anymore.

If I had a kid and she freaked out like that over ice cream, I would have tossed it in the nearest trash can and dragged her back to the car.

  8. Katey Sagal is my favorite Harlette. Saw her with the Divine Miss M back in the day.

  9. "Looks decent" means you don't have to go to church and confess your sins after you watch it. Still garbage TV.

  10. I have yet to meet child that doesn't act like Suri does. It's natural.

    ReplyDelete
  11. @Vicki, many experts think that kids CAN be sociopaths. The New York Times Magazine just had an article about it. Yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Interesting how it looks like "Kate" doesn't have a wedding ring on in the first pic, and then once she notices the paparazzi she jams her left hand into her jeans on the second pic. Announcement in 3...2....

    ReplyDelete
  13. Figgy, that's interesting because I've always read that child psychologists say kids can't be sociopaths because they lack the understanding of their actions, blah blah blah.

To which I say, bullshit. Those kiddie shrinks never had a brother.

  14. Katey Sagal looks fan-effin-tastic. She looks better today than she did on Married With Children. I love that she's still friends with Ed O'Neill.

  17. I don't really care about Suri Cruise one way or another, but jeez people! It is completely normal for a kid to pitch a fit over wanting ice cream, or that shiny toy, or whatever. She is a little kid! What isn't cool is Katie giving in to her, BUT.... I don't try to raise my kids with a ton of cameras trained on us. I imagine it is 'easier' to give the kid an ice cream cone and have her stop screaming, than to let her have a full blown fit and have the magazines report what a cold, inconsiderate, unfeeling parent Katie is. That family is damned no matter what they do, frankly.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Does the Co$ recognize sociopathy?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is it possible Suri dropped her ice cream and was crying so Katie gave Suri hers??

Trying to give the benefit of doubt, only because she is just a little kid and it is not her fault she is constantly photgraphed.....

    ReplyDelete
  20. Nope. Of course Tommy Girl gave birth to the chose one himself, so she's perfect.

  21. I wonder why a mother is taking a child out for pizza and ice cream at 9PM ?

I give her a pass, I cry when my husband takes my ice cream away.

But I lover Suri's Burn Book which some reader here pointed me towards.

  22. I have to admit, I've pulled a Katie before. My kids don't act up often, but one time, the screaming, the fit throwing, the howling. I gave in to just to shut them the fuck up. :)

    Seriously, I am a good mother...I really am...I swear... :)

  24. I agree with Roman Holiday - the first pic Suri is holding an empty ice cream holder and Katie is holding her own. Next photo, Suri is happily eating the ice cream.

I once lost the ice cream off my cone when I was a little girl, and I cried too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's interesting some people are looking at this as a one-off, and others are considering Suri's entire life before the camera.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Joel Madden in the pics...was it him or Benji that was dating Hilary Duff underage?

    ReplyDelete
  27. The power of the Suri scares me.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Is that really Sofia V's son? I thought she was 30ish and he looks like he's in his 20s.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Amber, I'm pretty sure it was Joel.

    Vanessa's dog is a cutie!

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Mama Abroad, she is in her 40s. She got pregnant and married very young, 18 or 19 I think. She and her son's father divorced. The son is in college so he's 19 or so.
I love Sofia V, but her weight loss over the last year has been disheartening. Why did she feel the need to cave to unrealistic Hollywood standards for female beauty?! Every man in America fell in lust with her during Season one of "Modern Family"! She didn't need to lose an ounce. Until recently, I always thought she looked much younger than she really was, but the thinner she gets, the older she looks.

  31. I understand the desire to make a kid stop screaming/crying/etc, but that's negative reinforcement and it will just teach the child that if they pitch a fit, you will give in to their demands and increase the frequesncy of their acting out. Classic operant conditioning.

As for children, generally it is not advised to label them as psychopaths, rather as having conduct disorder or oppositional defiant disorder. the problem is that the pre-frontal cortex(which is responsible for executive functions like reasoning, social and impulse control, etc) doesnt generally stop forming until they are around 25, a little earlier for girls. Kids generally have extra synapses in the areas where decision making and risk assessment take place which disappear as they grow older and mature. Because the pre-frontal cortex isnt ready to curb some of those behaviors, we see a lot more Id behaviors in early adolescence...inability to control emotions, pleasure seeking with no regard for risk, poor planning and judgement, etc. As the synapses close we see a reduction , and in some cases termination, of such behaviors and children that may act in a way that is consistant with psychopathy may grow up to be absolutely normal and the behavior can be attributed to brain anatomy. Btw, psychopathy is associated with compromised amygdala and ventromedial prefrontal cortex functions, as well..

  32. i don't know..seems the only time we see Suri out is getting ice cream, cupcakes and candy.....and fuckin bawling about it.

I think she is going to be a class A brat. And Katie has no one to blame but herself. the kid doesn't tell you she's not wearing a coat, you put the fkn coat on and keep moving.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lori, that was a lot of information but what I got out of it was Suri may stop crying when she doesn't get her way around age 25, possibly sooner. Is that right?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Suri - What a little monster! Too bad the help at the Cruise household are CO$ drones who will never speak out because I'm sure they have some interesting stories to tell.

OMG, J-wow looks to be a full foot taller than Snooki!

    ReplyDelete
  35. You guys are forgetting CO$ members do NOT discipline their children or give them rules to follow. They consider them little adults and let them do whatever they want. Suri IS a nightmare. It's not her fault, but she f'n is.

  36. The appearance of a Madden douche in Random Photos can mean only one thing...he's a douche.
    Also, a reveal.

  37. Vanessa Lachey is absolutely dreadful on Wipeout (it's a guilty pleasure, ok. My 8 year old got me hooked) Bring back Jill.
Which reminds me Enty...has Jill Wagner ever made an appearance here? Um, I'm not asking for me mind you, it's a question for a friend.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Has Jwowww had more work done on her face?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wow you guys. I can come up with a million captions for the Suri Cruise photos. Did it ever occur to you that Enty puts pics in out of order to change your perception? We weren't there, we don't know what was said. It's not like the hilarious comment about emma Stone Channeling The Ice Queen herself bc that's exactly what I was thinking, only I just thought she looked evil. I didn't think of Nicole Kidman also evil and the role model. You can judge outfits or stupid poses in pics, but not entire scenarios! Especially with kids in them. Don't even tell me your kid or the one you were babysitting never wouldn't stop crying and you were just like omg fuck it take whatever you want I just want to get home put on my sweats and slippers and turn on the dvr of Real Housewives of Not Here since I had to miss it bc I had to take you to buy the foamboard you needed for your science project due tomorrow that you just told me about a half hour before the stores close.

  40. Katey Sagal is hands-down one of my favorites. Thanks for the pic Enty! Pretty cool that Ed O'Neil's past and current tv wives are in random photos today. Love them both and Ed:)

I can guaran-damn-tee you that my parents NEVER gave in to either my brother or me just to shut us up. If we pitched a fit about something, anywhere, the parental response was, "I'll give you something to cry about." The something to cry about was a spanking, FYI. Guess what? the result was two kids who literally NEVER had meltdowns in public, and very, very few in private. We weren't perfect by any means, but we knew the tantrum bullshit would not fly.

Sofia and her son are so cute.
He has a youtube channel where he talks about her habits and films her getting ready for an awards show, filming, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous3:29 PM

Also, I don't think those photos are out of order. In the first, Katie is holding an ice cream cone while Suri has a fit. In the second, Katie is no longer holding the ice cream cone, Suri is, perfectly happy because she -- as always -- got her way.

Also, is Katie for reals carrying a BABY BOTTLE??

    ReplyDelete
  45. The pictures of Suri aren't in sync. The first photo has Katie eating a cone with one scoop and Suri is crying. The second pic has Suri holding a cone with 2 scoops. So she couldn't have given Suri her cone after the hissy fit. Geez, I need a life now!

    ReplyDelete
  46. my points were:

    1. dont give in to kids when they throw tantrums because they will learn that throwing tantrums = getting what they want.

    2. children arent labeled as "psychopaths", "sociopaths" or having antisocial personality disorder because behavior could be due to the fact that brain hasnt fully developed yet.

@Elizabeth- but your summery did make me lol:)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Good points Lori. Blair starts his book with examples relating to what you are saying.

Katey Segal does look great. People who work with her say she is the nicest person.

    Love Suri's Burn Book!

  48. Now that I'm sure Katie and Tom dont even live in the same city anymore, I like Katie and Suri a lot better.
To the people who feel these two photos prove that Suri has a mental illness and is doomed for life. I would like you to meet Dr Phil. He has the same amazing skills. I hope you are using your talents for good not evil. Anyway, If you look at the photos, the ice cream is bigger in the second one which means they are in reverse order.
I cried when I was six. Im terribly sorry that some of you apparently weren't allowed to. I still cry actually. I just sobbed after watching that bus monitor get bullied. I bet Suri would know better than to treat and adult that way. I cried even more when I saw that the internet raised 40k to give her a nice vacation or let her retire.

  49. Guys, I didn't have time to read ALLLL the posts, but when I saw the pic of Suri....I was thinking....thank sweet baby jebus someone else has a freakin' whiny little 6 yr old like I do. Cries at the drop of a hat, changes 10 times a day but is actually really sweet and cute. Like, 40% of the time.

  50. I went out and updated my denim wardrobe after seeing all the great pap photos of sexy Sofia in her different pairs of Hudsons. She is GORGEOUS in anything, but that woman can wear a pair of jeans. Wow

  52. Enty did reverse the photos- the Mirror reversed them intentionally with captions - see here:

  53. It's monumentally difficult for a parent to grin and bear a public temper tantrum. You get judged for giving in but you also get judged for letting it continue unabated. Can't win.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Lori, I'm glad you laughed because I was totally joking :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Lori they actually are labeling kids as young as 8 or 9 sociopaths, they just use a different term. It was explained in the new York times article (which was creepy as hell, btw).

I love how people without kids are sooooo quick to judge! Every time I tried to force a jacket on my toddler he would just take it off. What was I supposed to do, beat him into submission? Some kids are very very strong willed (ESP firstborns like Suri). I hate when people suggest threats, violence, beatings, spankings just to get a child to do what they want.

    ReplyDelete
  56. So, I am wondering where y'all did your psychiatric residencies cuz that's pretty darn good diagnosing a small chuld you've never met and only seen photos of with sociopathy.

It's pretty archaic to spank a child. What's it really teaching them? Nothing good.
Besides are you suggesting that Katie stop in the middle of the street and smack her kid in front of a dozen paps?

    ReplyDelete
  57. The daily mail has a fuller set of photos, with the story that the tantrum was when the ice cream was taken away http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2161666/Suri-Cruises-late-night-ice-scream-tantrum-Katie-Holmes-takes-sweet-treat-daughter.html

  58. Katey Sagal can do no wrong. I love her.

  59. Regarding the parenting stuff:

My sister has 4 kids. They are all very different, and each child was disciplined accordingly. (One kid you just say you're disappointed, another taken away from the fun to stare at the wall for a few minutes etc).

Well my youngest nephew is a real handful, and they had found that having him do 5 to 15 pushups stops his crazy behavior. That might sound cruel to a lot of you, but my sister's family is very athletic and outdoorsy so it's not as bizarre as it sounds.

Anyway, the family was about to do a hike in San Diego, and my nephew was being a hellion. Well, after a few warning he had to do his push-ups, and a child psychologist watched it go down from afar and reported them to CPS. (They don't yell or hit).

Maybe other states are more lax, but your hands are pretty much tied in California to do anything besides let your kid be a nightmare

  61. @ sunny - good lord! That really sucks. Hope everything worked out well for your family. It's a good energy using time out.

My mom used to make us go jump in the corner. In minute increments. Jumping up and down for five minutes straight is no joke. :) but it sure did tire us out and take us out of the situation in which we were being difficult.

  62. Texshan, I am pretty sure that is a bottle of Vitamin Water and not a BABY BOTTLE!

  63. @Nellie

They didn't want to wait for the dreaded phone call from CPS, so they wound up moving up to N. Idaho where my parents now live. Now I'm "orphaned" out here in S.D without any family, but I can't say I blame them one bit. I'm all for intervening if you see a parent hurting a child, but I still get angry about this

(And I love your Mom's jumping idea. Both my kids have endless amounts of energy, so I think they would think this would be funny and it would tucker them out)

  64. i can't believe how many people there are in the world analyzing the tiniest mundane details of suri cruise. who the fuck cares. she's a kid, i don't know her, i don't know them, the pics are for entertainment, why empathize or criticize a life we don't and will never understand?

    ReplyDelete
  72. @Monica - they are not labelling children as psychopaths or sociopaths, as those terms are listed under Antisocial Personality Disorder and one of the main chriteria is an age of over 18. One of the criteria for being diagnosed with it, however, is being diagnosed with conduct disorder with an onset of before 15. There are callous-unemotional children which exhibit syptoms or risk factors for such a diagnosis, but their brains are still developing and it can be easy to misinterpret normal behavior as psychopathy.

  73. The ice cream pics look like they are in the wrong order. Notice that in the 2nd picture there is MORE ice cream. Looks to me like the order of the pics needs to be reversed.
