Adele Was Pregnant During The Grammy Awards

You know when Adele had that surgery to help her vocal chords and then had all that down time? Yeah, she probably got pregnant then, because apparently Adele is due in September. Yes, I know she just announced she is pregnant last month, but she either has the quickest gestational period ever or she got pregnant back in December and held off saying anything until now. That means of course that her first public performance after surgery was at the Grammy Awards and she was pregnant. That also means she chose to do not do a Beyonce and show off a baby bump on national television. I'm also guessing that Adele's baby bump is real even though I have not seen it. That really is some faith on my part. Like when someone says they really did give you decaf.

  1. Some people don't need gossip or tabloids talking about them to sell records.

  2. Good for her. OT - Y'all should go check out the "I Guess, You Guess" on DListed right now.

    Good Tom Cruise stuff...

  3. Speaking of decaf, and totally OT, if you ever go to a banquet or wedding, you're likely drinking it. It's too confusing and time consuming for the servers to keep brewing huge carafes of different coffees, so it's all decaf.

Did you read the description of ScarJo's bodyguard over there? Dying!!!

  5. I'll never get tired of the Beyonce digs. It's like a joke that was barely funny once but people just won't let it die. So what if she showed it that way. I know people hate her but Beyonce is not the attention-seeking monster she's made out to be. She's pretty low-key. I don't care if she was or wasn't pregnant, people would rip her apart regardless.

Trey is right. Adele has a real talent, so no need for all the hoopla. I suspect she also has a real pregnancy going on, too.

  7. OMG- a celeb with real talent who wants to have kids because they want children- not a brand? *faints

  8. I had a friend who denied being preggo, even after she gave birth! She stopped talking to anyone who wasn't family (including me but our dads are friends) and completely ignored anything written on her facebook about being pregnant. She basically became a hermit after she started to show but she kept the baby (who is healthy). It was just really weird that she wouldn't admit she was having a baby. She's engaged too so it wasn't even a 'knocked up' situation. I know its OT but I had to share that even non celebs are total weirdos sometimes.

  9. Because Beyonce is talentless?

Anytime a female celebrity is "outed" for using a surrogate, she's ripped apart for not wanting to ruin her body or she only wants attention or other nonsense. Does everyone always have to be compared? Why does the internet always make you pick a side and state the incredibly annoying "Team Whoever?"

  10. Ha ha Sunny, yeah Michael K is the best. :)

  11. Oh course she's pregnant...Adele is a straight shooter..love her

  12. @anita, don't get it--you don't get tired of the Beyonce jokes, or you're very tired of them?

I for one find that whole Beyonce folding bump situation to be endlessly hilarious. Dunno why. It's like how some stupid joke will just strike you as so funny when you're in the mood, and from then on that joke will send you into fits of hilarity? Like that. ;-P

  13. Regardless of the talent- they trademarked A FUCKING NAME. Cause that's usual & customary and belies no other motive for breeding. Sure. Happens every day.

  14. Anytime any one argues with me over the validity of Beyonce's pregnancy, i just google the folding belly pictures and say nothing. They don't argue with me anymore after that (at least not about her)

  15. Congrats to Adele! She seems like a really fun, really nice girl. I like watching her on British chat shows bc you get to see the real her and she seems fab. Good for her!

  16. At least with Adele we won't have to endure the "look how fast she got down to her pre-pregnancy weight!" photos. And I mean that in an admiring way.

    ReplyDelete
  17. oh, and Dlisted's "I guess you guess" on GMD is hilarity, as usual.

Although I shamefully admit that I would pay good cash money to watch GMD and either David Beckham or Will Smith going at it. Yes I would.

  18. I would love to just sit and have a cup of tea with Adele. She seems like such a decent, normal person who deserves all of her good fortune. Excited to see any baby photos she might release, if she even does.

  19. @Trey excellent point.
Beyonce's supertalented but her last album flopped. my guess is that she tried to cover that (and probably she also wanted to have kids anyway)

yesss, Mikael K is AWESOME :D

  20. Beta, pretty much what I thought. Beyonce is incredibly talented, but that's a woman who knows how to keep things private when she wants to (like her wedding to Jay Z). She plays the paps and tabloids well. Adele just doesn't need them talking about her right now, her album keeps on selling and selling.

  21. I think Beyonce is very talented, but I'm sorry, the fact that she made that ENTIRE Music Video Awards show about the fact that she's pregnant--something half of the world's population do every fucking day--is absurd. So sue me.

  22. I hope that dbag Karl Lagerfield feels especially bad about his comments about her weight now that this news has come out.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I waited until the three month mark to tell anyone I was pregnant. And in our family - we don't have baby showers, we have christening parties. No jinxing the baby before it's born.

It could be she just wants to keep the baby private. I just hope to God she stops smoking.

  24. She would have only been in her 1st trimester for the Grammys, and probably didn't want to talk about it then for any number of reasons; she may also be carrying in such a way that it didn't really become obvious until recently that she even was pregnant. (It's not necessarily a "fat girl" thing, either--I've heard plenty of stories about women of all shapes & sizes who just happen to carry in such a way that it's not obvious they're pregnant; I remember a high school basketball player who played a game the night before she went into labor, and somehow I doubt the coach would have let her on the court if s/he had known the girl was pregnant.) She seems like a nice person, so I wish her & her sweetie all the best!

And no, Kunty Karl (as Michael K. calls him) doesn't give a rat's ass about being a prick--that would involve caring about someone other than himself, and I think we'll see the Second Coming before that ever happens. (Also, you'd think that, as a former fat boy himself, he'd have a little more compassion, but any fellow-feeling he ever had apparently disappeared w/the weight he lost.)

  26. It's the lying and denying that bugs me about Beyonce. She is a great singer, and their is nothing wrong with going a surrogate, but don't go out of your way to make up pregnancy.

She made her pregnancy a huge deal, with an in your face announcement. Of course she will be talked about and called out.

    I'm happy for Adele.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I called it! I said she was going to give birth by the fall.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't care if Bey was pregnant or not and if she wasn't, I don't care if she lied. The comments would just go from, "OMG, she lied!!!" to "OMG, she's so selfish, she didn't want to ruin her body, she's awful!!!"

And women can announce it however they want, I'm not going to pick which liked better and hold on to that forever.

You know what, I'm just going to go ahead and say it. I don't like Adele. There. It's out. I'm not denying her talent however I think the six months of being unable to go five minutes without hearing an Adele song got to me.

  29. Sorry, I hope I don't sound argumentative. I just get annoyed with the internet rules of picking a side.

Do I have to include the link to the baby sea otters playing in the bathtub?

    ReplyDelete
  30. fair enough, anita_mark *L* I ike her, but I haven't listened to her records in a while now. She kind of saturated the market, didn't she? But I think people will want to hear more from her so she can take whatever break she needs to have the baby and be new parents with her boyfriend, and record again when she is ready.

And yes, if you haven't watched an interview with Adele, do yourself a favour and get thee to YouTube. Girlfriend is hilarious.

  32. Isn't it worse to ask someone when the baby is due when they're not knocked up?

She's really pretty and has a BEAUTIFUL talent---that baby has some good genes coming!

  33. Well, I went to YouTube but got distracted by kittens. kitten playing in a box (right-click and open in new tab)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have to assume this is bc a bump is much less obvs on someone heavier that dresses like Adele. Plus she had slimmed down after the surgery so it would've looked like her putting some back on. Let's not give the tabs too much credit.

  35. I don't find beyonce interesting enough to care either way. I do think she faked it though and I just laugh at how she's still maintaining her cover up after the belly flop incident. But with lip syncing and auto tune, whatever they do to perfect a voice, you can't do that for dance. She is an insanely good dancer and she even practices in her 6" heels! I'd kill to dance like her. Pregnancies, singing can be faked but not dancing.

  36. Class act. Love her. Didn't always (there was a downstairs always blasting music neighbour situation) but I love her now. Plus I concur, girl is high-larious!

  37. Here's my beef with Adele:

-Find a new dress. Seriously. You have money and probably a stylist. You can afford more than one outfit

-She's that type of girl who falls in love in two seconds. Right after she began dating her new bf, she was all, "I'm going to take a break from music cause I want to spend every waking moment with this dude." To me, she seems like the kind of girl who would be completely obsessive over a man.

Otherwise, she's talented and beautiful. Something just rubs me the wrong way.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lol Anita, don't worry, it's ok to not follow the rules. ;) I do think women can announce their pregnancy anyway they want, but if you are going for attention and want people to notice then you'll get good and bad attention.

Beyonce wanted as much attention as possible, and she got it.

Nope, I won't listen to a word said against Adele. I wuv her. I think she's gorgeous, talented, and freaking hilarious. I hope her baby is happy and healthy and gorgeous, and I don't doubt for a minute that she is actually gestating said baby. I also hope she's stopped smoking.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Congratulations to Adele. She gave good hair at the Grammys so it totally makes sense that she's prego. My hair never looked shinier than when knocked up. It was really the best thing about me.

I concur that I hope she quit the ciggies for herself, for her beautiful voice and for her baby.

    ReplyDelete
  41. A little more of that decaf ... I'm feelin' buzzed!

  42. carebear (i don't reject you), how does your friend explain how she has the baby if she still says she was "never pregnant"? People are so odd sometimes. I had a co-worker once who we all figured was pregnant but she denied it too, until she finally announced it and said, "and I'll need next week off." Not that she didn't look nine months pregnant, she just wouldn't admit to it and after awhile we resigned ourselves to either accepting her story of weight gain only or calling her a liar, which no one would do to her face. She gave the child up for adoption and never told her parents or grandmother either (whom she had avoided for the final 4 months to keep them from seeing her belly).

  43. Take back everything I said above about Adele. The laugh made me like her.
