Kelly Ripa's Co-Host Is Down To 3

This is not the job I really envisioned for Seth Meyers, although I would hope with his involvement in Live that there would be sketches, but it looks like Seth is the front runner for the co-host position in what would be Live With Kelly And Seth. Does not really roll off the tongue does it? In the article on showbiz411.com they say that Seth Meyers is the leading choice followed by Michael Strahan and Josh Groban. They don't mention Nick Lachey who has wanted this job every single second of the day and would do anything to get it. Apparently when he has been on the show has not done well. Contrast that to when Seth has been on and the numbers have been great. Not as great as some, but the ones who did better are not available. For those of you who love Seth on SNL, he would still do the news, but not much else. Considering he has been head writer since Tina Fey left, that would just be another loss to fight through for next season.

  1. I sometimes see the beginning of that show before I leave for work and he is funny on it. So is Josh Groban. I don't know who Michael Strahan is.

It's a good gig. You can't do SNL forever.

  2. I think they should leave it as Kelly & .... and have a new co host each week/day OR have a contest like an AI of sorts where average everyday folks audition with Kelly and the American audience vote in their favorite, thus making this person her new host.

  3. I like Seth. He is funny and I would watch the show if I ever stayed home sick from work and he hosted. Otherwise, this show does not matter to me.

  4. If he does get the gig, it should be called REALLY?!?! Live with Seth and Kelly.

  5. Seth is cute head on but his profile makes him look like the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz. Love him on SNL.

  6. SERIOUSLY?! I get why they would want Seth (he's awesome), but WHY would he want to do a freaking talk show like that. REALLY?! What a step down for him. I feel like he does films and can definitely work his way up with a nice acting/writing career. I'm so confused.

  7. Josh Groban has been my favourite co-host fill in for a long time. Since even before Regis left. I really want him to get it.

I like Michael Strahan too, but something just isn't right with him.. What I'd really like to see Anderson Cooper leave his daytime show and just take over with Kelly because I know he is who she wants as her cohost.

I think Seth Myers really wants the Daily Show, or another type of late night talk show. He's not the right fit for daytime. I actually liked Andy Samberg hosting with Kelly better than Seth.

  8. I think they should hire Dana Carvey. He can just impersonate Regis the whole time. "Live with Kelly and Dana-as-Regis."

I like Kelly, but Regis was the draw. I didn't think he was too old. (According to him, he didn't retire. He was retired.)

  9. It really should be NPH but Im sure How I Met your Mother is preventing this

  10. Seth Meyers is an asshole piece of shit...get him off SNL and I'll be happy.

  11. its an easy gig and easier money, I can see him taking it. Why does the co-host have to be a man, why not a woman?

  12. Seth will get it, I'm pretty sure, but I'd prefer Josh Groban.

  13. While I still can't stand Kelly for the whole hour, I liked Michael Strahan with her. They had a fun chemistry.
In a perfect world, Seth Meyers would host a craft show with Martha Stewart. His guest spots were always the funniest.

ITA (I'm finally learning my acronyms because of this site). I get why they'd want Seth, but it does seem like a step down.

Seth is one of those guys that just makes me laugh before they even speak. I love him. So bummed to see that a poster above thinks he's an a-hole. I feel like that person knows something that we don't??? Spill it!

  15. Whoa, Tempy G...why all the Seth hate? Do you know something we don't? Because Seth is my boyfriend and I'd be horrified to learn that he is, indeed, an asshole piece of shit. :-(

All that said, I work in the daytime so I'd never get to see him if he did take the job. I'd rather see him get a nighttime gig, like Sparkwee said.

  16. I like Josh, but he's not a New Yorker, which I think the show needs.

Seth Myers is really funny on Martha Stewart. I was really surprised at how much I liked him on there. I don't think I've seen him on Kelly.

Michael Strahan is okay, but not feeling the chemistry.

  17. NPH would be the ideal co host but it'll never work with his show even tho it's set in NYC but filmed in LA. I was so upset when I found out most shows are filmed in LA, I figured out that's because Hollywood lies.

  18. I would tune in much more often if Seth was co-host, even DVR it. But there's no denying Kelly is also fantastic on her own, and Seth would be a great addition.

  19. @rejectedcarebear I'm convinced NPH was top choice, but he's too busy.

  20. For anyone who thinks this would be a step down, this is a VERY high-paying gig and certainly bigger than SNL. This is also tremendous job security and constant promotion of reminding America who you are every day.

    Not exactly a step down.

  21. Except kinda in the selling out category so yeah I'm with you there...

Ha ha - your 2 comments are what I meant by my answer. He's got the late night cool factor (at least for me!) so doing daytime seems like a sell out for easy money. Easy money and setting yourself up for life? Why not, I guess. You always hear about what a pressure cooker SNL is so take the easy gig and have more fun with your family :)

  23. I don't think NPH wanted the gig. He enjoyed his week there, but right now I think he prefers to be an actor/performer while he can. I love Neil but I can see where he might have a particular shelf life as an actor. He will make a great talk show host later on in his career, 15+ years from now.

  24. I get too distracted by Michael Strahan's teeth to pay attention to what he's talking about. I've not seen Josh Groban on this show, but he was funny on Glee. Seth Meyers is funny and chill, which is a good contrast to manic Kelly. And I mean that in a good way.

  25. I've always loved Seth Meyers, but I don't love him on this show. It's not a good fit for him.

Now Josh Groban, whom I didn't care for, is fantastic. I hope they reconsider him for the spot.

Don't really care for Strahan, but he's not bad. Just not that interesting.

  26. Ditto on strahan's teeth. I also can't stand kelly. It's mean but I'm kind of hoping she gets so skinny she implodes on herself.

  27. Love Kelly and Groban together but would watch with Seth.

  28. Anytime I see Seth on the show, I nearly cry laughing. He is so funny! He is super quit witted.

  29. @DangerousD - Muah haha! That was my first thought too!

I LOVE Seth, so this would be enough to get me to watch. However, I do think it's a step down for him & it will hurt SNL (which was finally getting better the last couple of episodes this season), especially now that Kristen & Andy (& possibly my other love Jason) are gone.

Heck, I love Michael too (big NFL fan here), but I'd be pissed if that meant he had to give up his FOX Sports NFL commentary show. He's fantastic on that and has great chemistry with the other guys.

  30. Sorry, can't stand her. Kelly Kelly Kelly

  31. Well, there's lots of dedicated SNL fans who do NOT love Seth on the show, not anymore. It's unlikely that he would continue to do Update if he got the morning gig, and there will be plenty of vocal fans screaming for him to leave the show completely.

  32. I thought Jerry Seinfeld had the job. Guesss not.

    ReplyDelete
  33. put this shitty show in the can and walk away already Kelly. Jesus.

SNL is barely watchable most weeks and he's the HEAD Writer,so how is he funny?

    Bor-ring.

  34. Seth Meyers is a nice, respected guy. He's not an asshole piece of shit. :)

But he has no chemistry with Kelly and would suck at this job. I'm so soso bummed that it won't be Jerry O'Connel. I thought he was perfect at it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Nick Lachey should have sex with Gellman, bet he would get the job then!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I like Seth! What happened to his brother from Mad TV?

I don't watch this show, so I don't care. I find Kelly very annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I like Jerry O'Connell, Michael Strahan, NPH, Josh Groban, Nick Lachey...well let's just say anybody but Seth Meyers.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Why can't we pick Seth and Josh and get rid of Kelly? Can't stand her.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Seth and Anderson are the two best choices. They are funny, and really let Kelly shine. Martin Short and Dana Carvey would be great if you wanted a funny storyteller like Regis.Jerry O'Connell looks too desperate for it, Strahan seems to be holding back, Bryant Gumbel is fine but a bit out of show biz for the job. Carrie Ann Inaba and Cat Deely are the only other candidates that I'd see if they could do it for a few times.

  40. I adore Seth Meyers. In fact, I started DVRing the show this week when I found out he was the guest co-host. And while I have enjoyed seeing his smiley face every day, I don't think this show is the right fit for him. GOD this show is cheesy. I haven't seen Josh Groban co-host, but he's pretty hilarious on Twitter, so I'd be down with that. I think Seth could do better. But then again, I love him.
