Mariah Carey & Carrie Underwood Star In New Version Of Musical Chairs

I have said it before and I will say it again. I think it is a really bad idea for producers of talent shows to blow a ton of money on the judges. That is not what made American Idol or its ilk successful in the first place. All this judge hiring is simply an elongated version of stunt casting which you see every sweeps period in television. A guest star to really make you watch. Watching one episode of the slutty pumpkin is not the same though as an entire season of Mariah Carey and Carrie Underwood each getting paid $17M simply because you don't think your show is good enough to stand on its own. For that kind of money, Mariah and Carrie should perform two songs each week and the contestants should sing in the background and at the end of each episode, someone is randomly picked to go home in an elaborate game of musical chairs. The music played will be samples of Mariah & Carrie's greatest hits and Mariah and Carrie will be used to judge how nimble or quick the contestants are at getting to a chair when the music stops. Ryan will still be the announcer, but Randy will be converted to a DJ and will be known from now on as DJRJ.

  1. Umm, I don't get this post at all. What is wrong with me? It makes no sense.

  2. Me either. I was hoping someone would clarify it for me. That, plus I don't give a hoot about reality talent show competitions.

  3. Oh. I guess it's talking about one of them being in consideration for AI judging. *off to get caffiene*

  4. I think it would make more sense if there was a new paragraph beginning with the sentence "For that kind of money...". Think that's where Enty starts his dream scenario :-).

  5. American Idol just turns out bland white men winners who make Clay Aiken look bad ass at this point. Stacking the deck with overpaid divas won't give it any relevance or produce any great singers anymore. But its a cash cow for Fox and they won't cancel it.

What a world when a former contestant from a farm could step into a chair worth 17 million.

I must of been born under the wrong sign or something to miss out on that kind of karma.

  6. This post made me lol...I guess enty had time to think up his ideal reality signing competition. If the new judge gets paid 17 mill, I bet that'll piss off JLO.

  7. It doesn't matter who they get the show would still suck. Mostly kids watch it so you get what you get. Talent these days are few and far in between.

    1. Buhahahaha. I recently saw a gif on Johnny Wier cackling and high kicking while siting in his chair across George Lopez. I thought of that while reading your comment.

      I really dislike reality tv.

  9. Is that Mariah on the far right? She looks really good.

  10. I think Mariah would be a good choice but I don't think Carrie has that much personality. If they are picking a former contestant I would rather see Adam or Kelly Clarkson.

$17million is just crazy and out of whack for any job, frankly. Mariah better bring it if she gets that much. I don't have a strong opinion about her--I love Nick Cannon tho so I will give her a chance for his sake. :)

  11. This is hilarious. And a sound premise to boot. Extra bacon for Enty!

  12. It's kind of amusing to me that Idol was intended to produce vapid, but extremely commercially successful, pop stars, and the past few winners have been soulful singer songwriter types. Those types don't sell well unless they're John Mayer but they make more interesting music than the Katy Perry's of the world, in my book at least. And yet all Idol wants is to produce a Katy Perry.

Carrie Underwood at least would give the show some creditability. Better choice than someone like Adam Lambert or Clay Aiken who would be there to "shock" people for a while.

  13. Timebob for the mother effing win as the best response here. Word to that last sentence.

  14. Why would anyone give Carrie Underwood $17 million dollars for anything? Has she even earned that the "life" of her career?
