Nick Jonas & Pharrell Williams As American Idol Judges

Nick Jonas is thisclose to be a judge on American Idol. He and Pharrell Williams are close to signing deals which would mean that Randy Jackson would be giving up his seat. I think these are two good choices. I think they would be great choices if not for Mariah Carey. Mariah is going to overwhelm these two. Pharrell would have to be the bad guy/Simon Cowell role. Pharrell is an awesome talent but one of the reasons he stays in the background a lot is because I don't think he wants to be always front and center and I'm not sure he can stand up to Mariah. Nick will do whatever Mariah wants because he will always feel he is lucky to be there and have a job and getting paid for it. Think of him as a younger Randy Jackson.

  1. They just need to shut AI down.

  2. Listen, just because Mariah is a strong woman doesnt mean she is constantly in a state of emasculation with her husband Nick.

Does she have diva-tude for days? HELL YEAH. But I sort of sick of hearing how pussy-whipped and cowed Nick is regarding her. Think aout all the strong ass women in the media: JLo (she is, loath though I am to admit it), Madonna, and Mariah just to keep it focused here. All these women are castigated in the media for dominating their men. They are treated with disdain and jokes for their relationships. It's bullshit. Nick is a grown man and until I see him physically licking Mariah's shoe or something else subservient Im not gonna say he cant stand up to her simply because she is strong and has a take charge personality. Eff that.

Also, side note: Nick Jonas would be SUCH a wet blanket on Idol. I havent watched in a long time but yuck. Pharrell though, now there's a good choice.

    1. @Jasmine: I think when Enty refers to Nick doing whatever Mariah tells him to, he's speaking about Nick Jonas, not Nick Cannon.

  3. Pharrell is badass. Him next to a Jonas is funny. AI has sucked for so long especially since they stopped making fun of bad singers in the beginning. I need to google what William Hung has been up to. He probably developed the computer I'm typing this on.

  4. Pharrel did a nice job as guest judge on Project Runway, I don't watch AI, but I imagine he'd do well in this role.

  5. Agree with FSP. American Idol is beyond tired.

  7. Pharrell is one of the best producers in the industry. I think Mariah would be careful to not get on his bad side.

  8. And here's the latest from William Hung. Swallow your coffee first. You're welcome. I can't wait until it gets to "Surfin USA" I hope it's as good as "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" (round the old oak tree)

    You've been warned

  11. Pharrell is funny looking to me, and kind of a boring personality. I'd prefer Nick, Mariah and Randy.

  13. My vote for judges are Prince,Shania, and Mariah. Each week one of them sing a song based on that week genre and Idol will be back on top. Divas

  16. I think Nick Jonas may be just what I need to finally quit A.I.. He was really quite so BLAH on Smash. Thank you AI producers, for freeing up roughly three hours of my week!

  17. I just wish they would have some judges who are honest with the *talent*. At least Randy would tell them they were sharp or flat etc.

Will watch a couple of times to see if it's truly dead or not.

  18. The show is done. They need to let it go. Once Simon and Paula left...donzo. If they could at least get Paula back, they may have a shot in Hell. If they could get both Simon and Paula back...they would go back up in ratings.

  19. Jasmine, I too am a huge Mariah fan. I've always loved her, and even her meltdown a few years ago was done gracefully and with style. I never think of her as being emasculating or shrewish because I can't imagine a man in the world (or a woman either) wanting to battle with her over trivia. Maybe an ancient record company executive twice her age would want to try to change her mind, but I always think she has so many great things in life becuase she works very very hard and shows up for everything in perfect form. It's good to know that there are at least two of us who love her! Probably more. At least I'm assuming you like her, lol, from that spirited defense of strong women.

  20. Nick would be the most boring pick ever. Gah. I don't know much about Pharrell's personality, so can't say about him.

  21. Oh boy. I've never watched an episode of AI, but I will watch every single night if it means I can see Pharrell. He is BEAUTIFUL.

  22. Pharrell is my dude! And to think, this wouldn't even be his biggest audience since he's been the drummer for the Oscars for at least two years. Fantastic musician.
