Ron Perlman Is A Really Nice Guy

You know, a lot of the time, when a celebrity gives a wish in Make-A-Wish, all they really ever do is a little meet and greet. Nothing to stressful or taking too much of their time. Well, if you are Ron Perlman, you go all in. 6 year old Zachary wanted nothing more than to meet Hellboy. Ron obliged. How? Ron spent four hours in the makeup chair just to make Zachary's dream come true. The makeup department then turned Zachary into a mini-Hellboy. It's hard to believe Ron is 62. Wow. I don't think I really knew he was that old. (Thanks Ben)

  4. I like Ron, especially after a SOA Q&A where he admitted that he "hated biked". I don't know why I thought that was so funny, and I think of it every time I see him get on a motorcycle in the show. Apparently he doesn't do so well on the bikes.

  5. Aw, that's nice to read.

  6. lol @EmEye SOA is awesome, can't wait for it to come back in September. Too funny he doesn't like bikes, Charlie Hunnan is a biker now because of the show.

Love Ron, he is just a good all around guy and seems like he is a grounded working actor and fame and fortune never went to his head to do something like this. Putting on that Hellboy makeup is a quite time consuming.

  8. Yeah...Ron Perlman has been around for quite awhile. He was on "Beauty and the Beat" and i think that was back in the late 80's, early 90's.

  9. Always liked him. Now I like him even more.

  10. Perlman has been a favorite working actor of mine for awhile. He's always seemed like a stand-up dude. Glad my impression of him wasn't too far off.

My favorite Make-A-Wishes are the ones where the kids get to be a superhero. That always tugs at my heart strings.

  12. Hellboy is a guilty pleasure of mine. What a lovely thing for Ron and the makeup artists to do for this child.

  13. That's why Hellboy is one of my favorite action movies. Ron is awesome, big heart.

  14. Seeing this warmed my cold, cold heart. You really don't see actors going the extra mile with things like this - well, not that we hear about too often, anyway. Good for you, Ron Pearlman!

  15. Oh - and I just signed up to walk for Make-A-Wish in September, so that makes this story extra nice.

  16. Love Ron on SOA!

Cannot wait to see what they do to Clay.

  17. What a classy guy! Have loved him since Beauty and the Beast. Gentle giant, gentle heart!

PS - I love HellBoy too, but the last one was horrible. Hopefully they won't kill the franchise. I want more Big Red!

  18. @timebob - I love it to, but haven't had cable in awhile, so I'm behind by a season. I watched a couple of episodes last season (Katie getting her ass kicked by Ron) and I HATED him after that - he plays evil so well, but if you see him during Q&As and whatnot, he seems like such a nice guy!

I saw some pap shots of Charlie, and his jacket said "President", so now I'm dying to know WHAT HAPPENED TO CLAY?!" (Don't tell me.)

  20. What a class act. This reminds me of when Andrew W.K. played that kid's funeral for four hours. I love it when people *commit* to doing awesome things for others.

  21. He is awesome on SOA. And he and Charlie H are in a few upcoming movies together too. Sometimes I forget he is playing a part, he is so good at it.
And John Cena needs some credit for his make a wish dealings. He has broke the record for most wishes granted. Even if he is trying to screw over his wife in their divorce.

  22. Ron is great, this is so nice.

  23. Love Ron. Vincent was one of my very first crushes on Beauty and the Beast, which is pretty frekiy now i come to think about it. Can't believe they're remaking that show

  24. Now this is a post I love. Wonderful to read this. I've heard a lot of wonderful stories of celebrities bringing a sick child their wish, through Make A Wish. My daughter is a soon to be Make a Wish wish recipient and over the last two + years we have met many kids who met a variety of celebs who went above and beyond to bring joy to these brave kids. The best part is that these celebs kept a low profile when going all out, unless the family shares the experience its only about bringing an amazing experience to the child and not photo op and press for the celeb.

Also major props to celebs who give of there time regularly to raise money for the organization.

  25. I work with teen kids who are battling cancer (as well as recently losing my own 42-year-old brother to a brutal form of cancer).

Believe me when I tell you how much it means to these parents and kids when these celebrities REALLY goes above and beyond. Every little thing; every kindness shown is appreciated - but accommodating wishes such as this make the memories that much sweeter.

Ron Perlman, you can add one more fan to your list. God bless ya'.

  27. I know the name, but not sure from where so I had to google him. I'm not into his genre so I haven't seen any of his movies or tv shows but holy crap how did he find the time bc he's been constantly working since Ryans Hope in 1979, THE YEAR I WAS BORN!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Ron Perlman is AMAZING. I've loved him since Beauty and the Beast, and City of Lost Children is one of my favorite movies of all time. He's always seemed sweet, smart, and humble in his interviews.

  29. Good job Ron Perlman.

If your point of reference for Ron Perlman as an actor is Sons of Anarchy or Beauty and the Beast, you don't know how good he is. I saw him on Broadway in "A Few Good Men". Everyone used to talk about Nicholson as Col. Jessup but if you had seen Perlman on Broadway in that role you would understand what a bad cheesy, lazy, actor Nicholson is. Than man could not bother to get a Marine haircut let alone get in good enough shape to look like a Marine officer.
