Your Turn

I think it is that time again for all of you to plug whatever you want to plug. If you have an event coming up or your band is playing or you are performing a dinner theatre version of The Exorcist. A garage sale? Bake sale? Favorite link? Song? Do what you want.

  1. Please would the lady who sells the lobster balls (I'm not kidding) repost her link? Local Ikea stopped carrying them. And the kilted male from reader pix and his art. In fact, anybody's art ?

Enty, dinner theatre version of The Exorcist? A Damn, fine idea !

  4. I have 2. I'm on 2 non-profit boards. one being Woody Guthrie Coalition. this would have been his 100th birthday. This print will benefit my other non-profit, Huntington's Disease Society of America, Oklahoma Chapter. My dad passed away from HD about 5 years ago so it's a cause near and dear to me:
All proceeds from the sale of this image will benefit the Huntington’s Disease Society of America! Tony is calling the print "Woody's Legacy".

  8. If you do not know how to give CPR, learn how, now. You never know when you will need to do it. Early this morning my 27 yr. old Daughter stopped breathing. I had to do CPR on my Daughter. Then watch an ambulance crew work on her for 45 mins. She will be okay. It is not hard to learn and you never ever know when you will need it.

  10. If any women are interested in volunteering, look into your local Junior League chapter. I'm in the Northern Virginia chapter and it is wonderful. We focus on STEM education, school readiness, promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, etc.

It isn't like the Junior League that you see in movies, stuffy and elitist.

@ old ;ady: so glad to hear your daughter will be OK. You're right, everyone should learn CPR.

Not that it's more than an idea--a little one, at that--but I'm thinking about starting a movie blog. I was planning to cover horror films, but there are lots of good blogs out there that do that. So I may go another route. Nothing to promote, but maybe expressing my intentions to someone else will force me to get the ball rolling on it.

Too bad this didn't go up yesterday, as I went to a benefit for a friend of mine that was hit by a driver going 50 mph in a 30 who fled. 2 broken femurs, fractured pelvis & spine, and lung contusions. 26. I just have to join in the free-for-all:

If you want to be an agent of good in your community, volunteer. Give your time to whatever interests you most: gardening, community beautification, animal rescue, elderly care, education of children and adults.

You typically need to possess no special skills except a warm heart and hands willing to help. In other words, show up and ask "what do you need me to do?"

I used to feel frustrated about all the problems around me until I became a part of the solution. It is life-changing and makes you feel like a superstar!

  39. There's a book coming out July 31st called The Winemaker's Dinner (available for pre-order on Amazon and Barnes & Noble) that I'm really excited for (I have a huge crush on Ivan). Its a 'fictionalized erotic memoir' of Dr Ivan Rusilko, who lent his name & image to the book, as well as co-authored it with Everly Drummond (an established erotica author). Its pretty ground-breaking because I don't know of any other person who has done that, provided their name, image, memories, details about life (profession, etc) for a book that's half fiction, half true. And he's DAMN SEXY! (Google Ivan Rusilko, you'll see what I mean, he's a 2x former Mr USA, a model, fitness trainer, DOCTOR, etc). They released 2 FREE book excerpts called RSVP and No Reservations, can download those from http://omnificpublishing.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=38

  55. I am presently out of work. I would like to put out there a willingness to be a professional smart ass and/or toady companion. I could handle that. Just give me guidelines. For instance, should Tommy Girl want someone to hang out with. In that instance I would happily slouch, tell him constantly that he is the best actor on the planet, make fun of all the other overgrown Alist actors and tell him how he should have gotten the roll of THOR. I will be perfectly willing to listen to him tell the story of how he saved numerous lives with just his fast actions and snappy dress shoes. I will answer his cell in a sexy voice should anyone from the media call or his handlers. I will provide endless evenings of motherly advice or sarcastic comments about the days events so that he will have more opportunities to call someone "glib". All for the low low price of $10,000. a day. Providing he does not insist I go to an audit.....then he will have to pay me 20x's that. Oh, and dental, I gotta have dental.

  61. I'd like to plug 2 organizations that are working to the same ends:

The first is Soldier's Animal Companion Fund:

    www.sacfund.org

This organization helps reunite soldiers with dogs and cats that they adopted off of the streets of Afganistan while fighting the war. For these soldiers, the dogs and cats were often their emotional/psychological touchstone and they are devastated when they must leave them behind. Reuniting them gives the soldiers back an important piece of their lives.

    The second is Nowzad:

    www.nowzad.com

This organization also reunites soldiers around the world with animals they adopted while serving in Afganistan. They also run the only animal shelter in Afganistan which helps the dogs, cats and donkeys who have been innocent victims of the war torn country as well as being the waystation for animals that are waiting to be sent "home" to their soldiers. They are, at the moment, desperately trying to raise money to relocate their shelter before they are forced to close their doors.

You can donate to either, or both, through the SAC fund link.

    Thanks.

  97. Well, I'm shilling for prayer. My grandpa's just been given less than a week. Please pray for him and my grandma - taking care of him has caused health problems for her, including a stroke last month. They're such awesome people.

  108. if anyone is looking for an animal to adopt, please seek out a shelter or a rescue pup! i saved my adorable pit bull pup about a year ago, and its changed my life. i know, how can a dog possibly change a life, well he has. and as @csproat said; please consider a pit bull! they are truly the most loving type of dog i have ever encountered. remember, it is how a dog is RAISED, they are not born to be inherently evil, they need love and support just like children do and they will grow into wonderful members of your family!
i'm bookmarking this page so i can spend time and read everyones comments!

  109. Support your local domestic violence shelter/agency! If you have no time to volunteer, that's okay; we love getting donations! Just call ahead to see what they might actually need. (Not that we're picky or looking gift horses in the mouth...lots of us have very limited space.) Ours is always in need of shelf-stable food items for our emergency sanctuary motel program, for example. Spend just $10 on some canned soup or peanut butter, and you've really helped several women and children. It's that easy and simple! Thanks!

  112. Well, I met some young hawt chippy's the other day at my favorite swimming hole, who were kind enough to old grandma-looking me and mah accompanying party. They're trying to make it big with their band called, The Smiling Lies. So check them out. They also have a youtube page, and FB & Twitter but I don't FB or Tweet so I haven't checked those two out.

And always, mah blog,(which I only started for my PSY class as the prof said, journals are not "the present") Omamaisbroko.blogspot.com

  117. Enty seems to do this quite a bit and I think it's SUPER nice of him.

If you animal lover like myself, a lot of rescue groups can set up an automatic draft for monthly donations. The amount I donate isn't huge, but i like to think every little bit helps and it's a nice way to help out in small chunks at a time. Shout out to RocketQueen who planted that seed in my head. ;)
