Celebrity Injuries - Robert Downey Jr. And Mayim Bialik

Yesterday afternoon, Mayim Bialik, who I will always think of Blossom no matter how many episodes of Big bang Theory she is on, was in her car in the middle of an intersection here in LA when she was struck by a car full of tourists. They were probably excited to be seeing a star, and the next thing you know, Mayim is being rushed to the hospital and almost lost her finger. Apparently there was extensive damage to her left hand, but she is going to be ok, and according to the Los Angeles Times will return to work maybe as soon as today. Have a finger hanging off and get back to work the next day? Crazy.

Meanwhile, across the country, the bazillion dollar third installment in the Iron Man franchise has been shut down. Not for long hopefully, but Robert Downey Jr., injured his ankle on the set of the movie and production is halting until he can resume filming. That shows you how important he is to almost very scene that they have nothing to shoot without him being 100%.

  2. Pain meds for everybody!!! Hooray!!!

  3. she wasn't in danger of losing her finger tmz is just stupid

  4. Blossom would have so much more street cred if she lost a finger.

    ReplyDelete
  5. That's so horrible. I hope she's going to be ok. Thank God they were able to save her finger.

  6. I hope they both get well soon!

  7. I always get worried when recovering addicts/alcoholics get dental work or have accidents. Sometimes the use of pain meds can trigger a relapse. But from Enty's Kindness blind about RDJ, I think he's finally laid his demons to rest. Get well soon guys!

  8. Why wasn't it LiHo in the accident? Why our beloved Blossom? Love you on BBT! Get well soon!

Poor RDJ. Ankle injuries are the worst! Super heroes need some R&R too! Take care of yourself... Ahem, get some acupuncture. I know you like it :D

  9. Careful with those pain meds, beloved RDJ....they ARE delightful. Get well soon, handsome-ness. If you're bored, we're right here to chat! Don't you have some kind of anecdotes you're DYING to share? Cmon!

I hope Mayim's not a lefty? It would suck to injure MY dominant right hand. My left hand is good only for helping carry laundry, and/or pushing the 'shift' key one the left side of the keyboard.

  10. 'ON the left side', not one.

  11. rest up and feel better soon! i wonder what will be in big bangs bloopers. and again, enjoy the time with the little one!

  13. Ohh, dia, so true - that should have been Lilo!

P.S. - I am blown away by your convo with OMAMA in one of yesterday's threads. You have an incredible gift. I don't have that type of insight, but have always felt a strong connection to the other side, and believed in an afterlife very strongly. Just awesome, dia.

  14. And dia, I'm going to read some James Van Praagh, too.

  15. Hope everyone recovers quickly!!

I cut off my finger when I was a kid and they just sewed it back on and I'm perfectly normal now (well, that's debatable, but I'm physically just fine).

    ReplyDelete
  16. Thank you Frufra! I am reluctantly starting to use my gift. I've been hiding from it for a long time. I just wanted to be normal like everyone else. It's a hard "gift" to have. The fact the my parents were scientists didn't help. I've been a skeptic about it for 25 years. But it's real and I'm glad I can help people with it, like Omama! That winning ticket is from Michigan maybe she won!!!!

I hope Aunt Jess goes back to read that thread too.

**Aunt Jess I left you a message in the Jennifer Aniston post. We need to talk! :D

  17. I'm glad everyone is okay and hope the best for their respective recoveries. Thank goodness Mayim's accident didn't result in (more) serious injuries.

RDJ, you just let me know if you need any help getting around. I'm a great personal assistant.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I just love both Mayim and Himmmm er RDJ! Quick recoveries to both of them.

  19. Blossom 4eva! Chaplin 4eva! On another note I'm out of the Linds pool. I had the 17th early morning hours. Boo! (Said all in fun)

@day saw your posts this morning and can't get back to the thread (stupid blackberry). Just wanna say I think you're pretty awesome ;) My spidey sense is tingling pretty good this week and MY number (for real this number follows me everywhere to the point its a joke w/ fam n friends) 367 has been popping up more than use all week. I feel like something is coming. Last night at about 2 I woke up to a female voice in the living room. That's the 5th time since saturday. Not sure if its me or the house (that's a whole 'nuther story lol). Uncle auntjess heard it 2x too but separate occasions. Sorry this is so long!

    ReplyDelete
  20. @dia, AuntJ - I'm such a wannabe, but I got nothin! I know, be careful what you wish for and all that, I know it's not an easy cross to bear. But to have insight like that - wow, just wow.

    ReplyDelete
  21. People STILL think that Himmmm is RDJ, huh? SMH.

I love RDJ and Mayim, regardless, and hope they're both on the mend ASAP.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I hope they hope rest & recover well.

Never had an actor that I looked up to untill this site told me about RDJ!

    ReplyDelete
  23. OUCH! As an ankle sprainer of some renown (my mom used to joke that I should criss-cross my crutches like snowshoes on my living room wall, allow me to offer the following advice to anyone dealing w/a sprain:

    (1) RICE--rest, ice, compression & elevation. Get off your feet, put an ice pack/bag of frozen peas on your ankle, wrap it up well w/an Ace bandage, and prop it up.

    (2) Ankle sprains generally don't require hardcore pain meds after the initial OWMOTHERFUCKINGOW!!!; Advil or the like should do just fine. Just make sure you keep it iced; if all else failed, fill up a good-sized pot or bucket w/ice water and leave your whole foot & ankle in it. (I have vivid memories of watching all 3 networks' takes on Gary Gilmore's execution the day it happened, while soaking my injury in my mom's stew pot w/a whole bunch of ice, after spraining my ankle while dancing during an audition for You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown in high school. And no, I didn't get a part...)

    (3) After 48 hours or so, you can start using heat instead of ice to help stimulate healing, but definitely keep the injury wrapped up all the time and propped up when you can. Don't go too long w/out doing some weightbearing exercise, but make sure the ankle is kept stabilized; those rigid plastic splits that only allow up & down movement (as opposed to rolling side-to-side) are helpful here.

    (4) I haven't had personal experience w/acupuncture or massage for this kind of thing, but I hear tell they both help with the healing process.

    (5) Oh, and if it keeps on really hurting like a mofo, call the doctor & see about an x-ray, because you might have actually managed to break something in your foot...

No advice to offer to those who've nearly lost digits, as thankfully that hasn't been a problem for me so far. *fingers crossed* Oh, and homeopathic arnica can help w/healing injuries and after surgery as well. Here's hoping all the injured folks are back to 100% ASAP!

(They must be shooting just action sequences for Iron Man 3 to have to shut down the whole production; otherwise, you'd think there'd be scenes he could handle while sitting down rather than have to be (a) on his feet and (b) actively running around.)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Robin - Good advice! Add some fish oil into the mix, too. I've just upped mine to the EPA DHA 6:1, so it has a lot more of the anti-inflam element. I have asthma that's affected by allergens, exercise, and cold, so I'm hoping this helps with it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. @dia- i just had to find out what everyone was talking about and wow. i got chills reading your conversation with Omama. You have a gift and its nice to know that you use it for good and can bring comfort to people.
I went to a psychic once who told me that my future would be in the air, i would be a pilot or something similar to that. Little did she know that my great grandfather was a pilot (who died in a plane crash), my grandfather was also a pilot AND my uncle was a special agent in the FAA. BUT- I've never flown, it frightens me to even think about getting on a plane. sorry to be OT!

  26. Was she breastfeeding her teenager at the time if the accident? Lol I kid, I kid. I wish them both a speedy recovery. Love you Iron Man!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Awwww bless the two of them. Get.Well.Soon.
Uhhhh RDJ- call me! I do a great bandaging! Honest.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hey Robin! Great advice! I know from personal experience that acupuncture works for ankles. That expereince is why I ultimately went back to school in my 30s and start a new career.

I sprained my ankle and it was enormous and swollen for a week. Huge! I couldn't put weight on it at all. A family friend was an acupuncturist. I went bc I was in so much pain and was ready to try anything to feel better. It didn't hurt at all! The next day the swelling was reduced about 80% and I could put body weight on that foot. It was amazing! And dramatic. It's not always that dramatic, but it happens often enough.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 'tis not a "sprain". As I stated many days ago in this forum (go find it you detectives): it is a hairline fracture and indeed, it hurts.like.HELL. (As I said then, no pain meds either. The 1,258 Chinese needles in the body DO help, btw). Take care campers :-)

    ReplyDelete
  30. PS - here's a link to RDJ talking about his love all all things Chinese medicine RDJ supports acupuncture

  31. Conspiracy alert:

I have enjoyed the RDJ persona that one of the Himmmms has alluded to because I think it's fun to read the posts in RDJ's voice but I've always considered it a prank that maybe got out of hand. And then. . .
While deep in a game of Words with Friends last night, I was reading the USA today app on my phone that mentioned the RDJ injury. Because of my freak memory, I recalled Himmmm chiming in on the Pimpa Joe Simpson post this past Friday and talking about a thigh injury on set but trying to muddle through. I have been an athlete my whole life, so when you have one injury, you tend to overcompensate and sustain another one somewhere else. There hasn't been ANY press of that first thigh injury, but yesterday the news broke of the ankle injury
DUN DUN DUN!! (wink to Em Eye Kay because she always says that)
Anyway, I left a comment on the Pimpa post saying "Ok, I believe" because you guys have had me in stitches with all your X-files conspiracies lately. I love then - and I was never even an X-Files fan!

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Himmmm - I was using great restraint in not throwing "hairline fracture" out there, but then you came along and did it for me :-). Get well soon - be good and stay off that foot, mister!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wow Mayim almost gets a finger chopped off and she'll be working so soon? Damn. When I was in a car accident I had to get 3 weeks off just to recover myself a bit I was a total wreck.

    Also get well soon RDJ!

I've got to go cook the Last Day of Summer breakfast for my wonderful kiddos - catch you later, lady!!

    1. Good day to you sunny!
      Hey Dia!
I totally lived in a house with spirits. A very evil father who was abusing his kids. I would wake up to hear the little girls screaming. Everytime I would try to leave the house I felt like someone was pulling my hair to come back in.

I only stayed at the house a week before I literally fled in fear. It was one of the most scary and profound experiences in my life.

  39. Get better soon you two! You two are some of the greats in Hollywood.

  40. @Sunny - thanks for the shoutout. I'm on vaca with my family so I'm reading when I get a chance but don't really have time to comment. Like right now, making breakfast and showing my mother misunderstood shark memes (important stuff!) Back in a week... DUN DUN DUN

(not very appropriate, had to throw it in there)

PDXers - OMG, it's so HOT HERE! I'm going to Sauvie Island!

  41. Truly I do love you guys - you are akin to the family and friends I wish I had growing up but never did! Sunny? I love you in a totally platonic way that in no manner besmirches my matrimonial love for my dear wifey.

Thanks for the get-well tips dia, fruf, and gang - and it sounds like a 2 brownie night Robin! And sorry but I have to run (well, okay - I have to walk) but I have to go in a sec. Do I just have to come out and post my SSN on here to be credible? Or post a pic in some requested t-shirt of the day? Huh? :-)

(Sorry, I'm a bit punchy today. Enjoying my vacation, baby midget time, and bagging on this anal retentive insurance guy sitting here with me in this trailer like my personal commie government minder lookingovermyshoulderasItypethis!! Life is soooo bizarre somedays, non?).

  49. Wow, Sunny how did you manage that?
It's almost like the Lucy episode when Superman shows up!!! You lucky girl! Hopefully he will love me not in the platonic way, wink wink!! Even though yes I do require him to post the SSn to believe!! I am such a skeptic!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I've probably mentioned this before, but I knew someone who worked on the set of Blossom and he/she said more than once that Mayim was really nice.

I'm sure we could figure out a subtle way for Himmmm to confirm his identity (or one of them) if he wished.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Noooo! How did this happen? I had a strong intuition to post right before I left my house. I put them up and rushed out the door. I didn't look til just now. I KNEW IT!

OK Mr Himmmm that's totally and completely unfair. I knew it! At least my posts are in between yours. I feel special! But not as special as Ms Sunny, who is everyone's angel!

So are they using the e-stim on you? It helps stimulate bone healing? You should have your guy make you a smelly poultice full of herbs and wear it for a few days!

    Get better darlin'.

@himmmm, can the girls come to the set? We promise to be good and not attack anyone (ie, Chris H or Jeremy R).

My dream is to be an on set acupuncturist and travel with film crews. I'm totally serious about this!

    :D

    ReplyDelete
  54. dia - I could use an accupuncturist at work. I'm a disaster today. I've only done it once, but it was super cool. I got REALLY involuntarily emotional, and I am not a very emotional person. REALLY bad at making time for stuff like that. You know, stuff like taking care of myself. You're such a sweet person!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Amber, didn't mean to blow you off. Totally insane day. This happens sometimes. Your qi (chi) gets circulating and stirs stuff up. It was most likely something we call Liver Qi Stagnation. Once the stagnation clears no more emotional episodes on the table :)

I don't make time for myself either. I'm exhausted! That's why I freak out and hide in my tv room watching International House Hunters and comment on CDaN. Haha!!!!

  55. Ooohhhhhhewww! Just came back. So cute! I was totally like a fan girl reading those posts.

Get well get well soon we want you to get well!

  56. I'd also like to add a GET WELL SOON, and do everything your doctors tell you to do. Someone did me the displeasure of breaking my knee back in 2006. Due to a horrible doctor, I was way late on getting physical therapy and now have compound problems as a result. While I'm horrible at heeding my own advice, taking care of yourself is SO important.

Xox, Himmmm. Sending speedy healing thoughts your way!

@Momster, that episode with the tiara was hilarious! "I'm a princess and this is my tiara!"

GoHeels answered my question of what really happens to a finger when they re-attach.

Himmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, please be very careful with the ankle. I fractured mine two years ago in a very dramatic way -- by stepping off my deck. Not even kidding. That's how I roll. Six weeks in a walking cast, some lovely painkillers, and now I have arthritis in the ankle and it hurts like hell every time it rains. Unfortunately, since I live in Houston, that's almost every day. Anyway, best wishes! Enjoy some time with Mrs. Himmmmmmmm and Junior Himmmmmmmmmmmm. Mwah!

    ReplyDelete
  62. @Himmmm Aw, I was wondering how you were doing! I had a very similar injury (in fact, may be the same as it was the same bone) about 3 years ago and *with* painkillers it was still a bitch. Hope the pain eases up a bit soon! This week has been so much better than last, so I'm sure it's going to only get better for you too ;-)

I looove Mayim (& her parenting book - it's good & more, "this is what works for me") and I've been led to believe she has a crazy work ethic, so this kinda confirms it.

On a side note, there's now two "Meg" (Knew that was going to happen - I'm the one who's been around for awhile), so I'm going to be switching to Megsablue (my name on other online profiles).

    ReplyDelete
  63. Himmmm, as I said before you have a choice:)

  65. So, I go back to work and I missed the appearance of Himmm??? That sucks!! Man! One of my biggest idols (Weird Science days and all). Oh, well. I am glad to hear that his humor is in tact. Sunny, dia, fruf, Robin jealous, but happy you guys got mentions.

Anyway, if you return Himmm...I sprained my ankle and I kept respraining it after when I thought it had healed. Keep it wrapped and wear ankle support for a bit.

And, what's this about costume appearances??? I just want a pic with a thumbs up...
    Anyway, feel better.
    XOXO

I don't comment every day but so many of you make me giggle on the bus ride into work. The best way to start the day.

    ReplyDelete
  70. @Himmmm: A hairline fracture? Damn, that stinks; although I've never been through that myself, I know enough people who have to know how miserable it can be. Acupuncture & herbs are definitely a good idea here, and make sure you're getting all the vitamins & minerals you need. Also, something else I've not tried (but have heard wonderful things about) is Jeanne Rose's Bruise Juice, a very special oil made w/a metric buttload of different herbs & essential oils that can do everything but raise the dead and clean my catbox; you can buy it here:

    http://www.jeannerose.net/products.html

(Jeanne's whole site is fascinating reading if you're at all into herbal remedies, plus she's had lots of experience w/healing injuries of her own, so she knows her stuff.) Start w/the smaller bottle, and go from there; it just might shorten your healing time considerably, and we know how happy that would make everyone in the production, eh?

BTW...if you really think that double chocolate espresso brownies just might help w/the healing process, let me know an address to which they can be sent, and I'll FedEx a batch to you. Seriously. I'm enough of a mama hen/yenta to want to look after & fuss over people, and if my baked goods could contribute materially to your physical/spiritual recovery, well, who am I to deny someone?
If you'd truly appreciate a care package, drop Enty a line at his usual e-mail address, and I'll make sure he has my address so the necessary info can be passed along to me with no risk to you. (I shall rely on both of your honor as gentlemen that you won't send a lady off on an expensive wild goose chase via FedEx.) Remember, chocolate has lots of bioflavenoids, and besides, we brown-eyed people need to keep our eye color topped up, right? :-)

If it doesn't feel right or resonate for you, it probably isn't right for you. And you know what, things are always changing and evolving. So at that point in time maybe that's what she saw, but if you went back today you may get a different answer. She could have picked up on all your family members who do that for a living.

It would be hysterical irony bordering on suicidal. Which is so absurd that maybe we can work it into the film ;-) We'll see what we can do on that one Agent (you naughty little pessimists you!:-)

Thanks Robin, you are a total dear. Way ahead of you, as I'm eating those from your recipie tonight! Not as good as yours, but we'll hold that fedex reservation for a bit in the future, okay?

Thanks again for the love, harmony, and wishes dia, muse, jessie, Brenda, meg, Tex, Sherry, Lib, Amber, momster, smash...and yes, john boy, elizabeth, and mary ellen too!!!

Just curiously do any of you know any good places - I mean really good places - for real Italian food in or around the Raleigh Durham NC area? 83. @Himmmm - Not that you care what I think -- I'm clearly a skeptic -- but only sending me a photo of RDJ, like, pointing to a post that I wrote on this site or something would convince me. Sorry. I do believe that you're an insider of some type and a lovely person, but posting Natasha GW's phone number is just not enough evidence for me. ;-)

And I missed the psychic stuff, too. Dia, do you do email readings? I'd be interested.

  84. I thoroughly enjoy when Himmmm pops up and (messes?) with us.
Whoever you may be, you sure do lighten up the comments section! I, also, enjoy the mystery of who is behind your keyboard. :-)

  92. Ask and ye shall receive--if not the goods themselves, then at least the recipe:

Double Chocolate Espresso Brownies (aka "Octonom Brownies")

    1 cup white sugar
3/4 cup white flour (I use unbleached)
    1/2 tsp. salt
1 heaping tablespoon instant espresso powder (find in ethnic section of grocery store)
1/3-1/2 cup cocoa powder (depending on how potent it is)
1 stick (1/2 cup) softened butter
    2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (use the real stuff, for God's sake!)
    1 cup/6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Combine all dry ingredients in bowl; mix well. Add butter and cut in to the point of having smaller pieces instead of big hunks of butter, then add the eggs, 1 at a time, and beat in. If the dough is way too stiff, add cool water a tablespoon at a time, until it's liquid enough to stir well and spread in the pan, but not too runny. Add vanilla extract, stir in, then add chocolate chips and mix until well-blended. (Back when I was young and foolish, I used an entire 12-oz. package of chips, which really turns these into solid rocket fuel; my musician acquaintances and I, alas, are now all getting old and just can't handle that anymore.) Pour/spread into greased 11" x 7" brownie/biscuit pan, or 8-9" square pan, sift 1 tablespoon of white sugar over the top of the batter (or cinnamon sugar if you're going for the cappuccino effect), and bake for about 25 minutes or so in a pre-heated 350F oven--check brownies regularly, and test with a toothpick or broom straw. If the batter is still gloopy, pop 'em back in for another 5 minutes or so; if the top is reasonably firm overall and crusty-looking, they're probably done; just try not to let them get too hard around the edges (which is damn tricky, so sometimes I just cut the edges off)--these are much better slightly underbaked than overbaked. Let cool enough that you don't burn the hide off your tongue eating them, and cut up in whatever way works for you. Enough to make you & several of your friends wired for days; they're really the best flavor-wise the first couple of days, but no one I've known has ever turned them down on ground of staleness.

    Bon appetit! :-)

re: Octonom--3 years ago, I brought a batch of these to my last NIN show at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC for bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen, a total sweetheart of a guy. (Yes, folks, there are cool Scientologists; he's one.) The next day, he tweeted back "ROBIN! OM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM! Thanks!" I was joking on Live Journal about calling them "8-Nom Brownies," and my former roommate Laura shot back with "Octonom!", immediately followed by her boyfriend-the-Army-Major's "You owe the Army a new keyboard!" :-)

  95. Hi Mooshki! :-)

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but based on my 19 years online and some of my wacky experiences, all I can say is that you just never know who you might be talking to. Maybe it's the real deal, maybe it's a clever wannabe, who knows? At this point, nothing would surprise me, but it never hurts to treat a poster as if they really are who they claim to be, because you never can tell--if the other person turns out to be a fraud, then the onus is on them for lying, and frankly I'd rather be naive than a jerk. If, however, they are who they claim to be, then that way you haven't behaved badly toward them, and therefore don't need to be (too) embarrassed. Either way, as long as everyone involved is having fun, what the hell! :-)

TL;DR: Whomever Himmmm may be, I haven't said anything to him that I wouldn't say to RDJ were the latter standing in front of me. It may be foolish of me, but better foolish than mean, eh?

(Back in 1992, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and most civilian/non-academic or military affiliated folk got online through services such as AOL, Prodigy, and Compuserve, there was an incident where Trent Reznor was booted off Prodigy for impersonating a celebrity...by posting as himself, under his own name. Yes, really. Some guy named Simon took it upon himself to decide that this guy HAD to be a fraud, you see, and reported him to Prodigy, which promptly yanked the account...Trent did get back on eventually, but at one point he was using his then-drummer's account to post and bitch out Simon for being a dick, and he really had to go through the proof-of-identity wringer in order to get back on under his own name, which made him a most unhappy camper. I've got the transcripts somewhere, buried in one of the boxes under my bed, but that's the Cliffs Notes version.)

  96. It doesn't matter if it is himmmm or not (see what I did there) his posts are fun to read and I guess that's what matters! No?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Damn, I'm a posting fool tonight, aren't I? :-)

A good source of references for good food is the Roadfood site, run by Jane & Michael Stern (formerly of Gourmet magazine, and author of many books/cookbooks based on their traveling and eating):

    www.roadfood.com

They lean towards funky BBQ joints, classic diners, regional specialties, and the like, but I have seen them review a few Italian restaurants here & there. You can search by state or type of food; I took a quick look at North Carolina and saw only one restaurant listed in Wilmington, a BBQ joint named Flip's, that serves pulled pork, banana pudding, and deep-fried mac & cheese--it's not really pasta, but it does sound tasty.

(Once again, though, if you're on I-91 going through the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, you HAVE to go to the P&H Cafe in Wells River and have some pie, especially the maple cream. Really, I insist!)

    ReplyDelete
  98. Um, that's the P&H Truck Stop; the restaurant is the Keep on Truckin' Cafe. Sorry about that...

  100. Ok himmm since you asked, I emailed for more recommendations from local people I know in the research triangle vicinity, professor, judge, scientist, flight attendant ( she met you on a flight, thinks you're a sweetheart), trainer, etc and the consensus besides the other two I mentioned before is Cafe Luna in Raleigjh, Bocci Italian in Durham and Pulcinella's which is very authentic but more down to earth. Whereever you choose I hope it's perfect. Feel better! Oh, and they say for non-Italian food the best restaurants are Rue Cler or Piedmont. Bon appetit

Sometimes it's magic. Last night Omama's mom just showed up and started talking to me. But I don't want to make that a habit bc I'll never sleep. Already don't sleep that well. So... I will let you know when I need to start practice. I have another class in Oct/Nov and maybe after that.

@Robin the mad photographer and @Himmmm
I have never done this before. But if you are RDJ or know RDJ or are in anyway connected with Iron Man, i have a freind with a very very very sick little 6 year old boy who is going up to cinninnatti medical center next month for more scopes, biopsies, test after test, and other medical stuff that i don't know the details on. He has Eosinphilic Esophagitis, and is not thriving to say the least. I think he will get a feeding tube this visit to wear long term, or life long. Google the disease for more info. But the point is that he worships and adores Iron Man, and if there is some special picture or toy or something you could send his mom to give him in the hospital when things get rough. I would appreciate it forever and ever..and I am willing to pay personally for it. I am including my personal email address, and if you or anyone who knows anyone can pull some strings, I will give you his moms name and number to talk about it and confirm my story is real. I just dont want to put her name or number on a public forum. We can go through enty if you wish...just have someone email me and let me know that you want to go that route. And please, if there would be a cost for this, i can handle it...not his mom, PLEASE. She's going though enough. And this is the sweetest child in the whole world. Ignore all typos..the iphone touch screen sucks.

  110. @Himmmm..I wish I knew of some good Italian places still. Est Est Est in Raliegh was awesome but so sure it's gone. Still have friends who would be in the know but sure you've scoped something out by now. It's, sadly, been 21 years since I moved from NC to SF via NYC as an actor. You may (or may not) be working with folks I know. I'm sure lots have left the biz for bigger venues or like me, gave up the struggle and got into business. I do know Another Thyme may still be there in Durham and that was pretty decent back in the day. Actually saw Holly Hunter there (but did not approach since she was eating). Another Season is a great grocery that was organical before Whole Paycheck. My friend Stephen Barefoot works there last I heard. Please inquire. Good stuff for a picnic.
Take care of the ankle. Got me a sprain once and I was a total bitch..Oh wait..I was a bitch already. I just used that as an excuse.

suggestion - find a fan club of Iron Man and see if they have a chapter near the Cincinnati medical center? They might have a charity in place that can assist. I know Trekkies were very generous with requests like that and used to go in and visit kids wearing costumes and bring goodies.

Please keep us updated, we can always send goodies.Prayers for the mother and child.

  123. @Dia - I wasn't feeling the thread hijack until you referred to it as the "psychic mystery tour. That made me laugh.

@ T. E. Cuz - Wilmington is an incredibly charming little town if you don't mind it being a little low key. I went there a couple years ago. We toured some plantations and did a few of the Ghost Tours. (I think the most remarkable part about the Ghost Tours was being in a place where people are all cool with walking through alleyways at night. I live in a city where people...don't do that.) We also toured the battleship NC and, although I'm a major skeptic, I heard footsteps of people who turned out not to be there. Just saying. We also had a great meal at, iirc, the Caprice Bistro.

But watch out- off-season, they literally roll the sidewalks up on Sundays and Mondays.
