Honey Boo Boo's Mom Has A Criminal Record

Have you ever watched the Honey Boo Boo show on TLC? I have. It turns out that the mom, June Shannon, has a criminal record. She was arrested for theft and contempt of court. Apparently the contempt charges have to do with child support, and possibly the theft charges too. In case you have not notice, her oldest daughter, Anna, who lucked out in the lottery genes department, looks nothing like June or Sugar Bear so is probably the daughter of June and another man. June would have been about 16 when she gave birth to Anna who is now 17. June probably owed child support to the father and didn't pay and ended up being arrested. Give it a few weeks and someone will dig it all out.

  1. Shamefully, I watched a few episodes of this last night. She said she'd only been with 'sugar bear' eight years and Alana's his only kid. I highly doubt anyone will be shocked by that woman having a criminal record. She went to the redneck games and her daughter bobbed for raw pigs feet!!!

  2. Honey boo-boo is doomed to get her mom's face. And her mom's face looks like a foot.

I hate seeing these parents living through their kids. That Honey boo boo is a monster.

  5. Honey Boo Boo?? Really???! This is even worse than that other name you posted on here, can't remember what it was now but there was a post the other day about how him and his wife were separating for the millionth time. I remember he had a stupid name too though.

  8. LaLa - I was coming to post the same thing, I think all the girls have different fathers, so it could have been for any of them. Sadly, I like this show, it's like a train wreck that you just can't look away from. And for those of you that say its contributing to the "dumbing down of America", I agree with you...but I'm Canadian, lol!

  9. Also, on The Soup the other day, Joel McHale called her a "talking thumb" and that's all I see now when I look at her!

  11. I came to say the same as LaLa and LA Mac, all 3 have different fathers. She had the oldest at 15, the pregnant middle one is 15, too.

  12. Shocking. Just shocking. ;)

  13. What I don't get is how kids don't learn from their parents' mistakes. If you see your mother having a miserable life because she got pregnant young, why get knocked up yourself at 15?

This is an obvious question, I know, with the answer being: Cuz she dum.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @figs - you live what you know, and apparently this poor child (the 15 yr old) knows about getting knocked up and careening through life from pillar to post. You have a sense that something is screwed up, but you can't begin to put your finger on it or change it when you're a child of dysfunction.

Hell, it took me 35 good years to really understand the dynamic I grew up with and how it affected me. I started turning the ship around in my 20's, but I didn't really GET IT until much later.

  16. How the Frick did these people get their own tv show? Have we really reached that far down in our search for entertainment?? I happened upon this last night, and watched a few minutes, only out of morbid curiosity.
OMG that is 10 minutes of my life that I will never get back. Forklift foot? The best part was the woman from the spa who commenting about her interaction with this group, stated "It was a good experience...well an experience"

Btw - the title is Pure Gold! There are so many possibilities - it could be the title of one of those "Dumbest This or That" shows, or we could even network hop and use it as a Snapped! spinoff title, and please dont forget to shop it with hoodrat tv - VH1! Lol

  21. figgy - there is a book called An Adult Child's Guide to Normal that helps explain how it happens. Like Frucra says, it's not entirely the kids fault. It's so hard for children to break free from dysfunction even if they have the mental capacity to do so. They all need our help and support.

Agree with Agent! This show is pure exploitation. It's like putting downs syndrome people on TV and laughing. Anything for ratings. Movies do the same. Humanity should be in a better place by now. There is plenty of quality entertainment taking a back seat or being pushed aside for this trash pandering to the lowest common denominator.

I obviously need more coffee. And bacon!

  22. I always wondered where they find the families for the Jerry Springer show and now I wonder no more:) Anyways, I caught the first two episodes and I love them! It takes all kinds!!!

  23. @libby, her face does look like a foot!

The girls at work (both 20 yo) made me watch this yesterday. They were giggling away and my mouth just hung open. For like 10 minutes! Open to the floor!

TLC has to subtitle this damn show bc they aren't speaking any known language. Honey Boo Boo indeed. I have never been so horrified!

Where is Agent**It!? I'm convinced shows like Honey Boo Boo and the lot are part of a huge pllot to take over the US. Over generations we slowly become dumber and dumber then the Chinese just take over. We won't even fight back!

They are such cool people that I miss them terribly at first, though. But I tend to adjust and get busy pretty quickly :-). And they get a four-day weekend for Labor Day, so it's all good.

  35. After the Gosselins, haven't we had enough of children being exploited for reality TV?

Keep in mind that most of these shows films in states with almost no child labor laws so they work long hours, no on-set independent monitors, and no requirement that any of the money is put away for the kids.

  46. OK...I watch the show as they make me laugh. But IF you watch the show, you will realize that we are, in fact, laughing WITH them, not AT them.

They are actually pretty funny, self-depracating, and unapologic. They really don't care what people think, but I do have this to say about them:

1.) Sugar Bear works 7 days a week to support his family
2.) They do seem to all care for and love one another and support one another
    3.) They LAUGH....a LOT!!!
4.) They have their daughter, at least Alana, working hard to acheive success at something she quite obviously enjoys
5.) Alana isn't a quitter...she may lose a lot, cry a few tears, but gosh darn it...she gets right back out there and keeps on trying! (I have actually seen a HUGE improvement in her since the beginning, so she really is trying to get somewhere)
6.) Their house looks fairly clean and well organized
7.) The mom works hard to keep their finances straight and to stretch a buck-she and her husband do this to sacrifice for their kids so they can have things they want
8.) The daughter is knocked up and everyone trashes her-yeah, she made a stupid mistake-but her family is there to support her...where is the DADDY???
9.) Watching this show makes me laugh, feel a little smarter, and also reminds me that I sometimes get a bit too hung up on being "perfect" and thinking what others think of me

    And last but not least....

10.) I think it is completely hysterical that Honey Boo Boo gets her own show while the great "Eden Wood" and her monster of a stage mother are trapsing all over L.A. trying to find fame for her daughter! I'd love to be a fly on the wall when Mrs. Wood found out that Honey Boo Boo got her own show!!!! LOL!!!!

Obvs, I don't watch this show.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I agree with you Ice Angel. They embrace their faults and love each other. It is over the top and the producers leave things in, like June the mother sneezing, that would normally be edited out. They aren't hurting anyone or taking advantage of anyone, unlike the Kartrashians and their bogus endorsements. I dont know if the show will last but I like them.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yeah Ice Angel, THANKS for listing the good stuff about this show/family.
And GREAT point about how funny (and awesome) it is that Honey Boo Boo got her own show while the perfection that is the blonde tiny angel of Eden Wood and her crazy mother are off god knows where. If that aint enough to make you root for the underdog I dont know what will.

Btw- for those of you who quickly turned this into a fat-frenzy joke a thon while poking fun at her back woods lifestyle, it's very amusing to watch you demean a woman for the very things you're exhibiting. Talk about trashy.

  50. @Hot-no...her real name is Alana, but her nickname is Honey Boo Boo Child...

@Thisknow...time for a "Our Turn" as I would love to hear from everyone if, given the choice, they would rather spend the weekend with these folks or the Kardashians...

I know I'd for sure pick a weekend with the Honey Boo Boos...it would be a weekend I would never forget!

And if I had to spend a weekend with the K's, I'd have to shoot myself!

    ReplyDelete
  51. @dia - yes, sometimes I've thought this is the deliberate dumbing down of America. I understand why the people in these shows do it, I don't understand why the networks do it - just the money, I guess.

Who would I rather spend a weekend with? If the choice is these two, I'd pick a weekend in woman's prison instead.

  52. I have to agree with Ice Angel and the others who see the good in these folks. Yes, they're a trainwreck, but other than their nutritional choices -- !!! -- they're a pretty happy and loving bunch. I'd rather watch them than the Ks, that's for sure.

  55. I'd pick the Trashians for sure... I may get some free clothes or even shoes from that big one, Khloe. I posted about this show on FB the other day. This shit is a disgusting look into a disgusting family. Subtitles for English??? Give me a break! Hillbillies.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I know the rules of the internet mean I have to pick one thing over the other but you can hate both the Kardashians and this family.

These people are ill-mannered and stupid. English is their first and only language and they can't speak it properly.

What makes me sad are the excuses made for them. They're happy or they're loving, etc. That's great and all but are we not nearing a point where we're just going to throw all social norms out the window and say, "just be yourselves, your behaviour doesn't matter anymore." This culture of "I'm being myself and I don't care what anyone thinks" will be society's downfall. Manners and common sense will no longer matter and there will be no differentiating us from apes.

I'm guilty of watching this nonsense but I can't condone their behaviour. Also, there's something odd about the things Alana says. She says some things that I wouldn't think a six year old would say.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I love you anita_mark.

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Anita-I hear your point totally, but I don't think anyone is excusing them necessarily for their behavior...however...in light of what society does put on a pedestal these days, there is definitely worse out there than these simple folks. As long as they don't hurt anyone else, really...who cares.

And rules of the internet??? I thought there were no rules on the internet...you can certainly choose to hate both families and we won't have the internet police find you..this is America after all! LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. When the 12yr old blew her nose on the ettiquette lady's cloth napkin, that was it for me.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @Ice, it's not America, it's the internet :) And I'm Canadian. But my comment wasn't directed at you, it was a general comment.

I just find them so awful yet I watch it. I'm the problem, I know. But I just can't believe those people exist. I just hate the attitude people have of "this is how I am, deal!" My cousin had a friend who made me all kinds of stabby. She'd say the meanest, most tactless things and preface everything with, "I say what I think." That's not acceptable.

When the etiquette lady visited and the girl said something to the effect of, "I am who I am and if people don't like it, I don't care" and the etiquette lady just responded with, "well good luck with that." That was hilarious. Because she's right. If she ever tries to get a job or move to the big city, etc., she's screwed because she won't have the necessary social skills to survive.

And if they take the pig away from Alana, they're moved from dumb to awful. If she's given a present everytime she loses and they gave her a pet without thinking it through, they are horrible.

Sigh, I hate myself so much right now.

Anything involving them eating just grosses me out to no end: the horrific stuff they give that kid, the mom only eats with her fingers etc.

As far as brainless TV goes I'd much rather have this than the fakery and elitist BS of anything Real Housewives or Kardashian.

  71. To be fair, TLC hasn't used the word "learning" for years. Nor has A&E said "Arts and Entertainment" in years so I don't think that argument can be made anymore.

Their house appears clean but their carpet looks like the carpets in the hoarders' houses after the clean-up. And yes, watching that woman eat at the buffet restaurant was disgusting.

And just to clarify, when I said I'm Canadian, I did not mean it in a way that looked down at the Americans because this nonsense came from them. A lot of garbage has come from here.

If there are any overweight people reading, don't you think the comments might hurt?

    ReplyDelete
  76. @Ice Angel, I like your observations and share them.

We watch this show, because we caught Honey Boo Boo on Toddlers and Tiaras (which we also love) and I just needed to see it for myself. There are times I feel guilty watching this stuff, but that's rare. I prefer this over watching any of those vapid and narcissistic Ks on E! any day of the week.

The pregnant daughter is the 17 year old, and the dad is NOT in the picture at all (they addressed that on this past week's episode). The mom had her when she was 15, dropped out of high school (did get her GED later) and worked two jobs to support her (no dad in the picture there, either).

The only thing about this show that makes me cringe is WHAT they eat. So much processed junk. Did anyone see the episode where they weighed themselves, to start their "weight loss" challenge? Honey Boo Boo weighs 70 pounds! OMG, I didn't weight that until I was 12. The youngest daughter (who they call "Chubbs") weighs 175. So unhealthy at such a young age, it's sad.

They also addressed her multiple chins and her "neck crust" in this last episode. They showed a photo of June from high school, and she actually didn't look that bad. She just let herself go, big time.

I apologize for knowing so much about these people. :/
