Blind Items Revealed

June 18, 2007

You looking to find some of the biggest names in Hollywood all in one place? Movie stars, basketball players, producers? Head over to Koreatown in LA. There is an internet cafe that isn't really an internet cafe. It actually holds a high-stakes, cash only poker game that requires a $100,000 minimum buy-in, plus a $50,000 initiation fee into the club. Wonder why a celebrity who always said they would never do a commercial suddenly turns up in one? How about because this A+ lister lost $2M in one night. Of course, his pain was eased by the companionship of several different women during the night. You do get something for that $50,000 initiation fee.

Commercial - Brad Pitt
A Lister - Tobey Maguire

  1. Wait, how does Tobey Maguire fit in?

  2. I'm confused i thought this meant the A lister did a commercial because he lost $2M but they are two different people?

    I suck at reading blinds

  3. the blind is confusing. who took advantage of the companionship of women? brad or tobey?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Tobey enjoyed the ladies during the night? Does companionship here mean they sat at his side and watched him play, or that they had sex with him? I'm confused with this one. If it means sex, then that is a good reveal, Enty.

  5. So glad others find this confusing as well, I thought I was having a serious senior moment.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think it's sex, and while yes, the wording is confusing, I still love this type of blind - good old fashioned dirty secrets :-).

Maybe Enty means Brad did the commercial to pay off Tobey's gambeling debt?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Oh it's definitely sex but who? And is Tobey an A+ lister? Brad is but not Tobey. Someone explain this to me because it sounds juicy!

  9. Brad Pitt lost $2 million playing cards at this place, which is why he did the commercial.

Tobey Maguire got to have sex with the ladies there as part of his $50,000 initiation fee. This is juicy because Tobey has been with his wife since 2003 and they already had a child at this point in time.

  10. Nope, still doesn't make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  11. LOL... I looked at the comments on the original blind back in 2007. Only one person had Brad Pitt; most of the speculation seemed to focus on Nic Cage, Russell Crowe or Robert DeNiro.

And *nobody* mentioned Tobey at that time. Back in 2007 SpiderMan 3 either just came out or was about to come out... he was riding high.

  12. It's no secret that Tobey is a big-time gambler - his name was brought up in a lawsuit not that long ago. And Brad doing commercials overseas is also not a secret.

So because Tobey is a known gambler, is the reveal that Brad is too, or that one or both of them had sex with women who weren't their partners?

    This isn't that juicy. Sorry.

  13. Brad filmed one of his japanese commercials in my firm's lobby a few months ago in NYC.

The whole builiding was a flutter he had been there. I could give less fucks about it.

  14. @Izz, you're not terrible at reading these, it was poorly written.

    ReplyDelete
  15. i read it as Brad had to do a commercial because he lost too much money and tobey lost 2 million in 1 night. the 50,000 initiation fee gets you girls, for everyone who payed it. so i'm guessing brad indulged as well.

    1. me too but brad has money doesn't he? that's the one thing that doesn't fit for me.seeing as his amount isn't mentioned though who knows?

  16. This is confusing. I think he is saying BP lost enough to do a commercial to recoup his losses, but TM is the one dumb enough to lose 2M in one night. I can't see Brad doing that.

If they are playing and having sex at the same time, I guess you have to assume the girls are under the table. Or, breaks are taken for sex.

Men, simple simple simple beings. How the hell did they get in charge of things?

  17. This blind is so poorly written it is all sorts of confusing. I reads like it is about one person, not two. We know about Tobey's involvement with high stakes poker because of the recent scandal. But the Brad Pitt part of the blind makes no sense. He did that Heineken ad directed by Fincher that aired during the Super Bowl in 2005.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Why on earth would Brad have to do a commercial to make up for gambling losses? Even if it was 2 million, that's hardly going to leave him in the poor house. Unless of course, the people that run this establishment are the type of people you don't say "no" to and would wipe the debt off if he did a commercial for one of their colleagues.

    ReplyDelete
  19. it was written in 2007 jesus christ people give Enty a break he was new at this back then.

Besides the fact it is simple enough to read so I don't know what that says about your reading levels.

Brad lost money playing poker so he had to suck it up and compromise his integrity as an artist and do commercials overseas to cover his losses.

Toby lost 2 million in one night, this was before everyone knew how heavy a gambler he was until he got sued for winning ill gotten gains from a ponzi scheme player. He banged some hookers as a consolation prize from the club. Hope his wife doesn't see this one.

    1. I agree, it wasn't that hard to read, I've seen worse writing in recent blinds and posts... maybe enty should have said... "how about this other A-lister..."

      Delete
  20. Brad has been doing commercials overseas for YEARs making millions. How would that be going against integrity as an artist. He makes loads of money doing so. And from listening to Don C, and Matt Damon who are big gamblers they say Brad is not and just plays for fun but. So that is just not a good answer to a BI, especially to those of us that know the background of BP. Just shows how these things are more likely then not off base.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I read it the same way Timebob. I think we're trying to make it too complicated.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Then why doesn't he do commercials in the US becuase he doesn't want people to know he does commericials. Besides the fact this BI is from years ago.

    Your logic is invalid @punkindj

    ReplyDelete
  23. It says the A+ lister lost $2 million. Tobey is an A+ lister? No way.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks Enty! I love this blind/reveal bc it's unlike anything I've read here in a while. I'm even just excited to know there's an internet cafe that's really a high stakes casino! (after proof reading I'm like wow yeah I don't get out much lol)

    ReplyDelete
  25. in 2007 Tobey was an A+ lister with Spiderman. Now, not so much. You have to read it in the context of the year it was written.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Weird...bc I saw tobey make out with Leo in 2002......thought he was gay ..I guess maybe bi?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Spill the details! It doesn't shock me though... I recall enty revealing a story about Leo going out and about around town disguising himself and acting like a different character... he's definitely very open minded.

    2. They had a crowd of ambiguous guys and gals back then. My guess is that age-old combo of bicuriosity, drugs and alcohol.

      Delete
  27. Yes, Brad Pitt has always done commercials overseas BUT in 2005 he did a Superbowl commercial for Heineken that paid him a lot of money. It was the first time he shilled for a product on US tv screens.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wow, glad to know I'm not the only one confused by the reveal. So it seems:

    Brad Pitt
    - lost lots of money
    - though he said he'd never do a commercial, he did one to pay off his debt
    - Tobey is the A-lister specifically cited as having lost $2M
    - enjoyed the ladies
    - implied he did some commercial too.

I think it's fine when those blessed with $$$ party with it (it's theirs after all), as long as they are at least equally charitable towards others. I believe Brad Pitt qualifies.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @alliwholovessomuch I agree Brad Pitt probably has more than enough money to pay off his debt, but imo it was a more responsible choice for him to do the commercial, given his many kids and his social implications.

    ReplyDelete
  30. No, it is terrible wording. Not clear at all. And really, if Enty can take the time to clear up the fact that he/she is sorry he/she said Avril Lavigne was hot in an old blind, surely he/she could fix this mess! Please! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Mary Jones So agree, I wish men would just hand governance over to us ladies and let us have a go. It's 2012, and society hasn't changed much since Julius Caesar, save technology.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Whoa, juicy stuff mandpanda and much easier to understand than this blind.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Brad Pitt, like most A List celebrities, has been doing commercial enforcements in Japan and parts of Europe off and on for years. Toby has been apart of nvite only poker games for years.

    Terrible

  36. it's confusing and poorly written
Tobey is known as poker gamer since always :when you read an article on Hollywood poker game,he always 's named and he's good
Brad Pitt does some commercials since 90's even after to become famous and he continues to do one commercial per year

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow, this has to be one of the most poorly written blinds ever and the only reason why we know is because of the reveal. In no way is this written to imply that two different people are being talked about.

Toby was married with kids in 2007,but Brad Pitt was definitely with AJ and he had certainly adopted her kids if they didn't have any by then as I can't remember when their first daughter was born, so this would be juicy if it were him as well. But damn this is written poorly.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I read the blind as this... not that my interpretation is right or not:

Celebrity who always said they would never do a commercial (Brad) suddenly showed up to an internet cafe/high-stakes poker club because he heard an A+ lister (Toby) lost $2M in one night & wanted to be apart of it. But it's ok that A+ lister lost $2M because he had sex that night to ease the pain.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Maybe its because I raised two sons, I thought this one was less difficult than a lot of them to understand.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The reveal makes no sense!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I feel like there's a sentence missing here in the second half of the BI. Because it reads like _one_ guy lost $2M in a private poker party, but still received sexual favors on the spot due to the $50k initiation fee at the time he blew the money.

Tobey Maguire was definitely A+ in 2007. That's about the time Spiderman 3 was released (too lazy to verify). Timebob is right, context of year w/b vital in understanding the A+ designation.

Gambling addicts...don't get me started...ack, you reap what you sow.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @ timebob - much love to you but the second part WAS poorly written

How about because this A+ lister lost $2M in one night.

    could have been posted as:

And what about this A+ lister who lost $2M in one night?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I wonder if maybe there should've been "high stakes poker game run by this A-lister..." Tobey's a notorious high stakes poker junkie; maybe he finally found a way to actually make money off it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. @MrWolf. I was wondering the exact same thing. I bet this is a type-o...though Toby is known for playing poker. Toby is also NOT an A list anymore.
