Brooke Shields has always said she never did drugs because her mom would have let her so it made her not want to do them. That is probably not going to work with very many people. If your parents are saying yeah, go out and do a few bumps of coke on the weekend to clear your mind, you will probably do it. Anyway, the photo above was sent out on Twitter and supposedly shows and late teens Brooke Shields enjoying a pipe filled with pot and the musician H.R. of Bad Brains. Brooke has come out and said it is not her, but I don't know. Right time period. Sure looks like her. It would make me like her way more to know she was into smoking a little pot because she was so uptight back in the day, or at least presented that image to the public. Would be fun to know she was actually sitting back and enjoying something which would have caused the world to react in horror that their perfect little role model was a drug user.
Big deal Brooke, its just pot. If its you, own up to it!

I don't think it's Brooke in the picture. However, if someone only smokes pot on rare occasions, or only did it a few times in their teens, I wouldn't think they were lying if they said they never did drugs.

Looks more like modle Lynn Koester or Tatjana Patitz during that time period. Both were pretty famous during that time and had similar features. H.R. is originally from London.

Obviously I have way too much time on my hands... I spent the last 30 minutes looking though images of early Brooke and I think it's her. The hands/fingers convinced me. found a few shots of her nose where she's not facing the camera head on... Some photos where's she's looking pretty athletic. yeah, I think it's her.

ReplyDeleteBut I remember watching the VH1 Behind the Music on Leif Garrett years ago... in it, they interview his mom who admits that she pretty much let him do whatever he wanted once he became famous. She compared herself to Brooke Shields' mom (both BS and LG came into their fame around the same time) and said that she used to feel sorry for Brooke because her mom was so strict- "that poor child, she never gets to do anything!" But she said that in retrospect, of course, she wished she'd been more like Brooke Shields' mom, because "Nobody messed with her kid. But they messed with mine." I don't know a lot about Brooke and her mom, but that characterization doesn't jive with what Enty's written here. Anybody know more about Brooke's mom?

ReplyDeleteBrooke's mom had/has mental health issues. She was also known to be extremely controlling of Brooke and every situation involving Brooke. I know she cost her kid a few gigs because of her behaviour. She also drinks heavily, or did drink heavily. I know nothing about her current situation.

In any case, she has the same hairline (little messed up in the photo--but it appears the same to me), which is very unique to Brooke Shields. The guy who found the photo tweeted that he was 100% certain that was Brooke, just not certain it is HR. sigh.

In any case, Brooke's mom suffers dementia--she was not as controlling as you all want to believe. Her damage control article in the Daily Mail explains this. Brooke still denies she took advantage of this free nature her Mom had about drugs.
It should also be noted that Brooke's Mom allowed her to do highly controversial photo shoots as a little girl. They were basically a pedophile's wet dream. This is probably why they put out the image that her Mom was very controlling--meant to balance the fact that she was displaying her little girl in near nude photos.

ReplyDeleteI was in high school & college in the 2nd half of the 70's and it was hard to find somebody who didn't smoke pot at that time. The difference was how much you smoked, not whether you did or didn't. Stoners smoked all the time. Jocks & cheerleaders only at rock concerts. In a fraternity of 80 guys there were 2 who had never used drugs. This was in Texas. Proving that "Dazed and Confused" was an exact portrait of that time and place. If Brooke Sheilds said no everytime somebody passed her a joint in that era she would have spent half her time arguing why she wouldn't partake.
