Kathy Bates Diagnosed With Breast Cancer
For the second time in her life, Kathy Bates has been diagnosed with cancer. She survived ovarian cancer almost a decade ago and now told Kneepads that she was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks ago and has already had a double mastectomy. Her doctors told her that she will be around for a very long time. Kathy Bates is one of the best actresses I have ever seen. She can play anything from comedy to drama and be believable in any role. The thing I love about her is she is always willing to take chances and not be confined to one role or think that something is beneath her. Want her to do a cameo on Two And A Half Men? It probably looked dumb in the script, but Kathy pulled off playing Charlie Sheen and is nominated for an Emmy for it.
Love her, I hope she'll be OK.
ReplyDeleteShe's always been a favorite of mine, although I didn't care for that series she had - I think it was Harry's Law or something. Hope she does ok and is back soon!
ReplyDeletei loved harry's law & i'm still bitter at nbc for canceling it yet they keep crap like whitney around
DeleteYou can tell she absolutely loves to act. She always delivers.
ReplyDeleteShe is one of my favorites. I hope she recovers quickly.
I love her overall, but my favorite is her role in What About Schmidt. Get well soon, lady.
ReplyDeleteI thought the ovarian cancer was more recent. I really hope she fares well. I enjoy her in every role she plays.
ReplyDeleteShe's fantastic! I wish her a full recovery/remission.
ReplyDeletenola, "About Schmitt" is a favorite of mine too! That movie, especially the ending, makes me bawl every time.
ReplyDeleteHer character in it totally steals the show, and her family is hilarious! To those who haven't seen it--I couldn't recommend it more highly.
Plus it has Howard Hesseman(n)!
I love her and actually want to be Kathy Bates when I grow up - she's a force of nature. I remember her first in Fried Green Tomatoes - the scene where the smashes up that bratty teenager's car in the parking lot to prove a point. I still fantasize about doing that.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, lady!
Yes! Frufra! That scene was fabulous. You don't know how many times I've really really wanted to do this....
DeleteAren't we getting personal drivers soon?
Love her in Misery and Delores Claiborne. She's so talented. I say "You dirty birdy!" and "One of us will be going to the bone factory" because of those movies. I wish her a fast recovery.
ReplyDeleteKathy Bates such a treasure. I'm saddened to read she's enduring another round of the Big C. I sincerely hope she recovers.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite roles of hers was 'The Late Shift', where she played Jay Leno's foul mouthed agent, Helen Kushnick to utter perfection.
I love you Kathy Bates! Best wishes for a full recovery and continued full, vibrant life.
ReplyDeleteYou go!!!
Love Dolores Claiborne! Ooh, David Strathairn (sp) played her awful hubby! I loved how their marriage ends in that...haha.
ReplyDelete"Sometimes, Dolores, sometimes you have to be a high riding bitch to survive. Sometimes being a bitch is all a woman has to hang on to."
I love that movie!
nothing but good health and good wishes coming your way, Kathy bates!
ReplyDeleteLove her she can be good but oh she can be so very bad...
ReplyDeleteGet well and stay well..
All the best to Kathy. She's definitely one of my favorites. I just love her.
ReplyDeleteShe makes me cry in Angus.
ReplyDeleteUgh I can't take this. How many people do u know who "beat" cancer but it keeps coming back?
ReplyDeleteGod bless you Kathy, you're in my prayers. And her guest spot on 2.5 Men is the only watchable episode of the Ashton era.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, I love her! I hope she recovers quickly.
ReplyDeleteI hope she has a speedy recovery. I know it can be completely exhausting, as my grandmother had a double-mastectomy, too. :(
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm sorry to hear this, but it sounds like she's going to be okay. Love her work.
ReplyDeleteShe was GREAT in Angus! What a good movie...
ReplyDeleteAnd loved her in Water Boy. She made that movie. "women is the debil".
Loved her in Fried Green Tomatoes, my favorite part was she rammed in her car into that little convertible, tee hee. I wish her the best.
ReplyDelete@rhinovodka, I agree. Such a great scene, particularly for underdogs. Love Kathy and wish her a speedy recovery and many more years of fine acting.
DeleteLove love love her! Get well soon!
ReplyDeleteTOWANDA, Kathy!!!!
ReplyDeleteWishing her a full and speedy recovery. This woman is Aces! She is brave and fabulous actress. I also loved the car smashing...I don't remember the exact quote, *Because I'm a grown up and I have good insurance.*
ReplyDeleteI swear I have seen every movie she has been in at least twice if none 4-5 times. She is one of a kind. Love her and all the best. She is a force of nature.
ReplyDeleteMs. Kathy you are amazing. You have made me laugh, cry, scream with terror. You make every ensemble better!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
One of my all time favorites. Get well soon, lady! We love you!
ReplyDelete@Layna Day, I LOVE Delores Claiborne. She was amazing in it. She has such acting range. I would love to see her in a musical just to see her rock that too.
ReplyDeleteWishes to a quick recovery for her. She is a classic!
ReplyDeleteThis is too bad, but the treatments are amazing now, and at least money is not an issue. My mother got breast cancer twice (at 45 and 90) and died of (another) stroke.
ReplyDeleteWow Tux cat..Your mama was a fighter! And first time I saw Kathy was in "Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jummy Dean." Loved her in the movie that was a roman a clef about Clinton where she committed suicide. She's just an amazing actor with a stratospheric range. May she kick the big C's ass!
ReplyDeleteLoved her in Dolores Claiborne. This is in my top 5 favorite movies and she is a big reason why.
ReplyDeleteSpeedy recovery.
Fried Green Tomatoes:
ReplyDelete"Face it lady, we're younger and faster".
Repeatedly reverses car into theirs.
"Face it girls, I'm older and I have more insurance".
@ Frufra - those weren't teenagers. Those were, it's sad to say, grown women!
ReplyDeleteEvelyn Couch: Hey! I was waiting for that spot!
Girl #1: Face it, lady, we're younger and faster!
[Evelyn rear-ends the other car six times]
Girl #1: What are you *doing*?
Girl #2: Are you *crazy*?
Evelyn Couch: Face it, girls, I'm older and I have more insurance.
Thank you, IMDB.
Oh NO! I love ya Kathy, you're amazing!! Best wishes to you, for a full recovery. This lady is in the top 3 of my personal list of "Famous People I'd Most Like To Hang With/Be Related To" (the other 2 are Stephen King & Ozzy).
ReplyDeleteBecause of Misery, cockadoodie & oogy are in my vocabulary. :)
Love you Kathy, you tough old broad, get well soon xox
ReplyDeleteOdd coincidence, the heart attack episode of Two and a Half Men re-aired tonight, the one where she visits Jon Cryer in the hospital as the ghost of Charlie. So I just saw her in that role.
ReplyDelete(I don't pick the channel for the waiting room TV.)
I love her too. Fried Green Tomatoes is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI wish her well. She is a tremendous talent.
