Shaun White Arrested

Shaun White was arrested in Nashville after getting drunk and attacking a guest at a hotel and also destroying a hotel phone. I guess there are only so many times a person can be called Carrot Top and not get offended. For the record, I have seen Shaun White and he only looks like Carrot Top if you throw on some eyeliner and shoot him full of steroids, but I can see how people would think he is the same person. Anyway, Shaun tried to attack a hotel guest and then the guest said he had called the police and Shaun tried to attack him again, but ended up falling down and hitting his head. When the police tried to let Shaun sign some citations and leave, he refused.

  1. And don't forget, before running out of the hotel, he pulled the fire alarm, at 2 a.m., causing the hotel to be evacuated. I'm sure the sleeping guests really appreciated that.

  2. I wonder what actually happened to provoke Shaun to "attack.". Not that he didn't, I just wonder if there is more than meets the (black) eye here. I didn't think Shaun was known for being a fighter.

  3. Jeez. Maybe he's bottoming out? I know nothing about him aside from the gold medals and the cute boy's clothing line at Target, but he seems super-likable. Hope he gets it together.

  8. @auntliddy - he's a pro-snowboarder and skateboarder. My brother seems to have a strong opinion that he's a "douchebag", but I'm not totally sure why.

  9. @goheels & frufa - yup, can you imagine? BTW, TMZ and Radar both had the full report. I'm sure the sleeping guests were just thrilled to have put on clothes and run outside at that hour.

  10. Hahaha, Amber - did you see him in Friends with Benefits? He played a secret douchebag in that movie (as himself).

  11. @ Cathy - I haven't seen that yet! I felt like I wanted to, but is it any good? Who am I kidding...I will watch some serious CRAP. Being good doesn't matter. LOL

  13. @Amber - it was surprisingly funny. Way better than No Strings Attached. Mila Kunis had some really great lines in it.

  15. One of my good friends was good friends with him in high school and she always said he was a sweetheart. Granted, fame changes people, and drugs... I hate hearing about stuff like this, reminds me of the Michael Phelps stuff a while ago. Poor guy.

Yep, Friends with Benefits was a pleasant surprise: really really funny. And Shaun White's minor character in it was definitely an asshole :)

  19. I think a lot of other snowboarders don't like him because he tends to be a loner at competitions and he has his own, private half pipe with a foam pit (for falls) which they think gives him an unfair advantage in being able to develop tricks with relative safety and seclusion.

His last run on the halfpipe in Vancouver was amazing.

@Jennifer...he's totally my athletic crush too.

  20. @amber - you gotta see Friends with Benefits! Then we need your play by play review. It will be hysterical :)

  24. The only time I've ever seen this guy was the cameo in Friends With Benefits. He played a comic violent jerk version of himself. Maybe he really is like that.

  25. He is the biggest douche bag ever. Just watch any time he's on camera and acting like himself. I hope he goes down hard. I remember him being a little bitch way back on punked. Then in the last winter Olympics I don't remember which event but he kept bragging about he was going to try this one new move and was saving it for his final run. Well he went last so he already knew he won before he had to do hIs second run. You literally hear him on camera ask his coach if he should just board down the center and not do any tricks. Like whatttttt an asshole to even ask that. It was a slaP in the face to all the other athletes. He's talented for sure, and the best I know of in snowboarding, but he's an ass.

  26. Wasn't there a blind about him, several years back, about how he mistreated his groupies?

  27. I think he is fugly. Not to rip off Michael K yet again, but he was definitely pulling a Charlie Sheen.

  28. I've always thought this guy was incredibly hot. Still think so. Everyone does stupid things. At least he didn't hit a woman. He looks so vulnerable in that picture. Makes me want to hug him.

  29. @Silver...He was joking with the comment, you can also hear him and his coach joking around and laughing before he asks if he should "go for it".

Instead of phoning it in on his last run (when he had already won the gold), he did a new, awesome trick that was completely untested in competition (double mctwist 1260-- 2 front flips while doing 3 1/2 bacward spins), landed it and went on to get a record score of 48.4.

He was "bragging" because everyone kept asking him about it.

In interviews, he is funny, charming, down to earth and yeah, often arrogant about his abilities. He also talks about his love of and devotion to his sport from a young age.

When you are unarguably the very best athlete to ever compete in a given sport, I think you legitimately get bragging rights.

    Yeah...I'm a snowboard fangirl. :p

(You can watch the gold medal run here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZlndAt-RS4)
