Blind Item #3 - Easy Easy
This A list all movie actress is filming her latest movie outside the country after a recent breakup. So far she has refused to eat any food that she does not recognize, or that is not from America. She also has complained about her accommodations and has been moved four times to try and make her happy. She has yelled at the crew constantly and thinks every guy who talks to her is hitting on her and has decreed that only people who have speaking scenes with her are actually allowed to speak to her.

ReplyDeleteLOL. I just asked my husband this morning if he had looked at porn on my iPad because I thought it had picked up a virus. Mine does exactly what you described and also started about two days ago. And yes, I am going to have to stop reading CDAN if it continues.
ScarJo is a good guess, but if she's in Scotland why all the angst about the food? I was just living in the UK for a while, and the food is pretty much what we get here in the U.S., unless she thinks she has to eat haggis everyday? She seems almost moronic enough to think that the food in Great Britain is exotic, but it is not. And yes, I have noticed that when I view this site on an ipad, it redirects to porn sites, so I never do it again. Today when visiting this site on my regular macbook I have been redirected to different marketing sites as well, but not pornographic ones. I have all the necessary pop-up blockers, etc., and I still experience a lot of exasperation with this site. I can't open it on Safari because it makes my entire computer freeze (I have to do it in Firefox, but even then it is really, painfully slow to load), and now this. I understand wanting to squeeze every last dime out of a successful blog site, but you shouldn't do it in a way that ruins the user's experience. I might have to stop visiting unless this stuff gets fixed, and that would make me sad because this site is a lot of fun.

ReplyDelete@Maya - yes, I have experienced unwanted boobage (and points further south) viewing this site on my iPad, and it is ONLY this site. I only access CDAN via my laptop now (with industrial strength filters) because it is full of invidious crap. And I'm also on the ScarJo train - saw pics of her yesterday and she looked very unhealthy. Not just skinny, but underbelly-of-a-fish white. Maybe it's the dark hair, but she looks awful.

ReplyDeleteGo to the settings icon on the home page with the apps. Go down to safari or whatever browser you are using. From there it should have somewhere to clear the history.
Sounds like ipads are a wonderful way to surf the internet. I don't have any of these problems on my PC or droid.

DeleteBut there is something you can do. Stop doing business with the ad company 'acting up' and name names. What ad network is so incompetent that they are willing to ruin the reputation of the sites running their ads. If web master don't start holding advertisers responsible more readers will adopt ad blockers in self defense.

Back to the blind: I don't think this is ScarJo. She was filming in Scotland last year and got paid a nice endorsement fee to be "caught" shopping at a new Whole Foods there. She's filmed in Japan, Spain, England, etc.
well, whoever is running this site should put up a post acknowledging that there is an issue, that they are working to resolve it, and workarounds for in the mean time.

I made the mistake of opening CDAN once on my iPad. Closed it within 30 seconds. Only watch on MacPro using Chrome and both Ad Blocks.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but thanks for replying re: the porn. I was very upset when a extremly grafic XXX page opened while my 5 yr old was sitting next to me! And I did post this question yesterday on a thread and it was deleted. I really enjoy this site and all of you comenters and don't want to have to stop visiting!

Are you really that anal that you feel "degraded" by seeing 2 seconds of porn. You wouldn't know but the ads lock you into automatically watching for 5 minutes straight.

ReplyDeleteWebsites are served ads by ad networks. These networks are given instructions about which formats and content are acceptable by the client. However the ad networks make programming mistakes all the time, especially when dealing with small sites like this. Their defense is that the traffic ("inventory") is so small there are few non-sleazy clients who want it. And the network won't service you if you put too many restrictions on the ads you accept. So somebody at te network who wants to go home for the night just messes up the code, accidentally or on purpose. Once the client protests, the network fixes it. So you all did the right thing to complain here, but this kind of thing does happen at small web sites. I know from overseeing one.

I have the same thing AND netflix when I view it on an ipad2. on my pc it's firefix with adblock, so, no issues on the pc bu it's really annoying on the ipad. Makes me feel all better about adblock cutting into the ad revenues for the site.

ReplyDeletefor everyone who's having trouble w/ads on this site. I was too and the ads were slowing it down horribly. then I downloaded ad blocker software. I have a mac pro. I just googled. 'ad blocker mac' and found some software I think called, 'ad blocker'. it works great. both the site and the internet run much much faster and no ads.
