You Might Cry A While

Be warned, if you continue reading this and then look at the photos, it is highly likely you might cry for awhile. The boy in the top photo is Carlos Daniel Gonzalez. He is 6. He and his sister watched as their parents and five brothers and sisters were killed in Guatemala in a dispute over land rights. After Carlos is comforted by police, he gets up and goes to comfort his four year old sister. Wow.

  10. I'm really crying in my parked car right now! I just want to hold and comfort these poor angels! And to those who did this may you rot in hell!!!

  11. Hell has a special corner for people that do things like that to children.

But that boy and his sister deserve only good things. I will keep them in my prayers.

  12. This is sad. Whats even sadder is how s*it like this happens...all the time down there. Sometimes I think Americans are just not appreciative enough of how good we have it here, in comparison. I know I am, but thats because Ive lived down there and seen how life can be elsewhere.

  13. The anguish in his face in the first pic...ugh my heart is breaking.

    Seriously, my problems are NOTHING.

  17. Just so sad, heartbreaking. The picture of the boy and the sister is so sweet, but horribly sad at the same time. To imagine something like this happening to my son, same age, makes me physically ill. I hope there is someone that can give these two children the love that they need and deserve.

  18. Co-sign Kim D Esq. This is why you have things like contracts and titles and deeds. This happens a lot in Africa and Asia, too, where the courts and law enforcement are lax, corrupt or nonexistent.

Even though Egypt is pretty civilized, we have walked away from several shady deals where it was not clear who really owned the property that was offered for sale.

  22. Damn. It's like that little boy's childhood just ended. I wonder why he and his little sister were spared?

I hope they're well take care of, somehow, someway. God bless them.

  24. I want to swoop in and scoop them up and protect them, but nothing can change what they just experienced. Poor little ones. I hope they have family or a safe place to go.

  26. OMG, I can't stand this. I don't even want to read the article, just the pics are bad enough. I have a lump in my throat. Bastards.

  27. Take notice: Kim K, Linds and the rest of the spoiled, entitles bitches that prance around on reality television and thumb their privileged noses at the real world.

I've always said, if I had a child that was bitchy and self centered as Paris or Nicky Hilton...or so many other celebritards: I would ship them off to work in an orphanage in India.

Bless this little boy and his sister. I am happy for them that they still have one another.

  28. Ditto to what @auntliddy said...Enty, can you update us on what we can do to help these poor babies? I don't know anything about setting up a fund in Guatemala, or if that would be stupid because it would be pilfered...I wish I could adopt them.

  29. I hope they grow up to be Superman & Wonder Woman and get their justice!!

  31. What has happened to these children is horrendous. But please know this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are thousands of children who have been through similarly horrible circumstances - and who have been abandoned, lost, or are suffering from disease and malnutrition. There are a lot of groups out there who do wonderful things for the people of Guatemala... and those of you who want to help may consider asking them if there is any further word on these children. One of the groups I can recommend is Mayan Families - a non profit where nearly 100% of any funds received are used to help people directly. You can visit their website at www.mayanfamilies.org. I know they do great work - because I adopted my daughter from Guatemala over six years ago. If you are having a rough day, just read a few of the stories on their web page. I guarantee it will put things in perspective for you.

My prayers are with these two children and their surviving siblings...

  32. @Turkish Taffy,
I'm not sure where you get your facts from but no this doesn't happen a lot in Africa...I know cause I was born and raised there. Please stop perpetuating a stereotype...#africaisnotacountry

  34. Nooo. just no.

@Sue in MO, thanks for the link. I've traveled to Mayan areas and still think about the indigenous people I met there.

  35. the last picture in the NY Daily News article is what was so sad... The police officers carrying bodies, and two officers had small body bags cradled in their arms. You just know those are the two babies. Why would the shoot the babies?! What does that accomplish?!

And these two plus 2 others survived because they hid
