  3. Jackie! We'll never know for sure but I enjoy some of the crazier conspiracy theories.

  4. Did you see Jesse Ventura's Conspiracy Theory on JFK's death? E. Howard Hunt's son has a death bed taped confession stating the CIA's involvement in his assination.

  5. It definitely was NOT LHO. Although he was a CIA operative, he was the fall guy.

  7. i do care, but am kind of afraid to find out... i have a friend that says of US presidents, "if he doesn't cooperate; they'll give him a parade in dallas".

  9. Interestingly, I was listening to Coast to Coast last night, and they had a caller who had a story about JFK. When the guy was younger he spent the night at his friends house, his friends father was a doctor. So, JFK gets shot and the doctor was one of the attending doctors, he comes home and tells the family he got shot in the front of the head and the back of the head. That was his story until he was asked to not talk about it anymore.

    I do care.

I do care and I want to know.

But I think I'll be afraid of the answer as well

  11. Is it 75 yrs before the government releases the records on this? I would like to know always thought that are government was involved. Remember they did nothing to the plotters who wanted to kill FDR and old GB's grandfather (Senator Bush) was one of the masterminds of that.

  12. @sis, JFK's brain is still missing from the National Archives. The most famous piece of missing evidence in the world. I do care.

  13. Lee harvey oswald. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I have read and watched tons of shows on this, and never hv i read a compelling arguement for any conspiracy theory. Not saying wasnt one, but ive never seen proof. I guess i dont care, because nothing changes the fact of his death. No matter how, he is still dead , and the effects on history remain the same.

  14. LHO. I am not a believer in conspiracy theories. I think this is one of those occam's razor moments.

  15. The mob did it. The government covered up the mob's role because if they went after them, their joint involvement with the Bay of Pigs and similar operations would be exposed as well. It was more important to protect the government's rep than prosecute them for JFK's murder.

They just went hard after the mafia in the decades following instead since they couldn't get them for this.

  16. If you could resurrect President Kennedy this very minute, what he would wish was not that the truth be told about who killed him, but that American children be taught the historical truth that he was assassinated by conspiracy and that the government of the United States covered up his murder. A sad and wretched truth about the evolving history of our nation as a democracy is that we are vastly less "democratic" than our conceit allows us to believe. Barely more than a hundred years ago J.P. Morgan, et al, ruled this nation, not the president, and we were not a true democracy until the Voting Rights Act was signed and fully enforced.

I am just thankful that we have not slain President Obama in our wandering, idiotic quest to become a truly moral nation. Four years ago I dispassionately gauged his chances of surviving his first term at 50/50. I am glad to have been proven wrong.

    1. @BProfane: I also thought someone would attempt to assassinate Obama and am pleased to be wrong as well. Even if my choice of president did not win I certainly would not want them dead. Sad that there are crazies out the who feel otherwise.

I am happy Obama's made it so far.

I would like to know the truth about what happened to Kennedy, tho I don't really think it would change anything about where we are today. It is one of my earliest long memories of hearing of it at school that day, and watching all the coverage on television the days afterward. My mom and I had a scrapbook where we kept clippings of the news coverage. I have no idea what happened to that scrapbook when my mother passed.

  22. Interesting tidbit: my father regularly delivered groceries to Oswald's mother in the late 50's to around 1960, when he was drafted. This was when you called in an order and someone delivered your groceries and left them on your counter if you weren't home. This was in Ft. Worth, TX.

I had a college professor who's claim to fame was that he taught a summer school class, and LHO was a student who dropped out during the course. Dr. Duncan said he was surly and sat at the back of the class.

  23. The government has succeeded in covering up what really happened. it's not the first time a government has done it and it won't be the last but it makes a mockery out of democracy because I believe the people have a right to know what others are doing on their behalf. When records are sealed for such a long time that no-one will be alive who was around at the time, then you know they are hiding something big and something ugly.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think it was the mob. LHO just a fall guy. I still care and that's one of the mysteries I want solved before I die. Deep Throat was another one, but at least I know the answer to that one!

  26. I was at LIFE magazine as an intern when they were doing the 25th anniversary issue of his death, reprinting all that coverage and photos (and the Zapruder film was still in the darkroom vaults). Those still photos definiely show him first being flung backward, his head and all, shot from the front, and then being shot from behind and his head and body being thrown forward.

  30. Funny, I read a Stephen Hawking quote today - "If governments are involved in covering up the knowledge of aliens, then they are doing a much better job of it than they seem to do at anything else."

I know it's about aliens but I think it applies here. Governments are just not very good at keeping secrets (see: Wikileaks). I think LHO did it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think this is one of the government's secrets that may best be kept under wraps for the time being. We are in enough trouble with the rest of the world already. It's kind of like Fort Knox. Many people (I am one of them) don't believe much of the gold is still in there. If we had unbiased investigators and accountants go through it all on a live feed, we'd be royally screwed. We owe way too damned much money to too many people. Sometimes secrets are best kept. "Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead."

    ReplyDelete
  32. There is one more thing about the LIFE magazine/Zapruder film shots that's rarely commented on but very telling -- Jackie. Jackie at one point when it was clear JFK was dead very inelegantly (and so out of character) in clear terror scurried/crawled across the back seat and half of that car's trunk before either coming to her senses or being convinced to return to the seat. What I'm saying is -- the shooting/danger clearly was coming from in front because her instinct was to take off in the direction of safety. It's really a key series of images to take a close look at (and in addition to the direction she's going, another reason it's not mentioned often is because she basically was abandoning her husband in those moments, which goes against the whole myth that became built up later, not that I'm holding that against her but there is more than one reason why you don't see much commentary about it, like it's impolite in addition to not sticking to the story).

    1. Jackie was actually crawling out of the car to retrieve pieces of her husbands brain matter that had exploded out of the car. Atleast that is what she said.

  34. I've not read all the comments yet but had to put my one and a half cents in :P

I believe it was a professional hit, why I believe that is below:

years ago (MANY years ago)I worked in a bookstore. JFK conspiracy theory books were in vogue at the time as I remember. One weekend I was working by myself, when a large male, glasses nondescript walked in. I suggested a JFK book, and we got into the most fascinating conversation.

he asked me if I read a book that was written by a male intern that was in the dallas hospital where JFK was first taken to right after the shooting. he then proceeded to say that he had personally used the same type of rifle supposedly used by lee harvey oswald. he told me it was NOT PHYSICALLY possible for that rifle to be fired as quickly as it would have had to have been for oswald to be guilty of what he was accused of.

the book "jfk: a conspiracy of silence" is by dr charles crenshaw, who was a doctor/intern in the emergency room when jfk was taken in. i highly recommend reading it if you can find a copy. he describes the wounds as they were when jfk was first wheeled into the emergency room, and this is important because apparently they were altered.

yeah yeah yeah yeah LOL I can hear y'all now... I've read a number of books on the subject and usually write them off as nutjobs or someone that just is out to make a buck but the book this doctor wrote rang true to me.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ok I'm not deleting/editing but missed a few things in my post up there.

that guy in the bookstore spent probably 30 mins to an hour telling me in DETAIL about the rifle, how it fire how it was constructed and what it would have taken to do what oswald was purported to have done. He said JFK's death was a professional hit and told me in detail why he said that. I had cold chills after those conversations, he was very quiet, and very soft spoken very analytical.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think Jackie crawled over the trunk because that's where secret service...i.e. "safety" was.

On a curiosity level I guess I care. I'm not sure I buy a conspiracy, but neither would I be shocked if there was one.

Having said that, I don't think it really matters one way or the other 50 years later. The people who may have been involved are (for the most part) long gone and knowing wouldn't change where we are today as the path is already well worn and irreparable.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would like to know. And as mich as I abhor conspiracy theories methinks LHO was just the fall guy.

    ReplyDelete
  38. We did. Our government is one giant cesspool of fuckery and zero morals. We are all just pawns being moved around the board.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Definitely the Mob....they helped put him in office by delivering important votes in key states and they felt betrayed when Robert Kennedy went after them with a vengeance while he was AG. What I don't understand is why the investigation felt it had to cover for the mob.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'd like to know as well! I am a lover of conspiracy theories (and have been known to believe in one or two) and I think LHO was a brainwashed/ programmed patsy. I have alos read that the JFK assasination was an Illuminati blood ritual, but I'm not willing to go quite that far....*L*

I don't know who did it...the mob. our own government, Cuba, whatever. But I will always believe the shots came from the grassy knoll, because when I first heard the news, on television, while making lunch for my husband, that was the report. Also, the description of the body stated that the back of the head was blown away, and that does not happen if you are shot in the back of the head.

  46. My dad was a member of the White House Press Corps, and he said that everyone there believed that LBJ was involved in JFK's assassination. A reporter who was going to come forward with info exposing the plot was thrown from an airplane.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow... So many interesting theories/ info from all you guys!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I should also add that my dad, who was a mean SOB and took pride in being ultra cruel, said that LBJ was the meanest, scariest SOB he ever knew. My dad worked at the White House from JFK through Clinton, and so that is saying something.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yeah, Leah, I read the book about the LBJ conspiracy several years ago (did the reporter who was thrown out of the press corps write it?). Decently convincing, though probably not the most likely scenario.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I never read any of the JFK conspiracy books - I just took what my dad said at face value, and he never changed his story. I don't know who the reporter was that had been thrown out of the plane, and dad never mentioned his name.

My dad got to see things and be in interesting places. He may have been a jerk, but he was a jerk with a front row seat to history. For instance, he did the feed from the WH when Nixon resigned, and it was dad and just a couple of other guys in the room with Nixon. Nixon was freaking out, and he pointed at my dad and asked,"Do you have to be here?" And my dad said, "Well Mr. President, if you want to be seen on TV, then yes."

  50. The George Bush connection intrigues me. Any of you seen the documentary on netflix about it ? No matter, never believe the official story.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yes I care. LBJ gets my vote on this. Probably in cahoots with the Mob too.

Also, I always thought (was told) Jackie was climbing over the back of the car to retrieve JFK's brains.

Actually going to Dallas and the grassy knoll is quite eye opening and very sad but interesting. I recommend it to anyone interested.

Probably the same peeps who killed Marilyn also...

  52. JFK was about to unwind the US involvement in Vietnam. There was a little article in that Monday's NYT about it, if I remember correctly. Would that be enough reason to kill him?

Probably not - something like that would take more than a few days to set up. Just the logistics alone would take a time: payment, route, schedule, stories.

Of course, once the go-ahead was given it wouldn't take long at all. But it takes a while to plan things. Even the payment would take a while - though back then it would take less time, since large cash transfers weren't as controlled as they are today.

Does it matter? Not really. They made him a martyr, which has been bad for America.

  53. I've been at work all day reading about JFK and I'm looking forward to reading all the books recommended. I don't believe LHO did this. He was the patsy. I think it was the mob. They killed MM too! And Bobby.

  54. What was the year that was said in the JFK movie with Kevin Costner? I keep forgetting it. I'm looking forward to finding out.

  55. I can agree with Jesse's theory. JFK wanted peace. Lots of defense money is nothIng but fraud. Same this day. Cut defense spending now. That's why the economy is so bad.

  56. Oh wow..his brain is missing?

    ReplyDelete
  57. I believe this has been solved by Thom Hartmann and Lamar Waldron in the book Legacy of Secrecy. Evidence has been released via foia lawsuits -- it just hasn't received any publicity. The mob killed him but because he was in the midst of a very secret plot to assassinate Castro (with bad elements of the CIA), his inner circle had to participate in the cover-up and squelch the investigation to not cause WWIII due to the plot to kill Castro. It's pretty interesting if anyone is interested. http://www.legacyofsecrecy.com I've been obsessed with this case for probably 20 years and now consider it solved.

  58. Definitely a conspiracy, even according to U.S. House of Representatives investigation in 1980s or 1990s, although they didn't name names. I remember watching it--the aftermath, anyway--on live TV since I was in school in 5th grade when it actually happened. Most people I knew didn't buy the LHO b.s. the "Warren Commission" put out even then, especially after LHO himself was gunned down just two days later while in police custody. I'd guess the closest anyone's probably ever come to the real truth is depicted in a "docudrama" type of movie issued by Warners in 1973, "Executive Action." It stars Burt Lancaster, Will Geer, and Robert Ryan, among others, and contains most of the footage from the Zapruder film, a home movie shot by a guy on the scene as the event took place. Pretty good movie, still available on DVD. Netflix also had it the last time I checked. Basic premise was that it was a right-wing conspiracy funded by rich old plutocrats who hated the fact that Kennedy was pushing for civil rights, that he'd refused to invade Cuba to overthrow Castro, and that he'd also refused to commit large-scale U.S. forces in Vietnam. Some of them had had business interests in Cuba, and they also stood to make a bundle of money if the U.S. went to war in Southeast Asia through government contracts. The guy who set it up was ex-CIA, and so were at least some of the gunmen. The CIA hated Kennedy because he'd threatened to destroy the agency after the Bay of Pigs fiasco in 1961. The movie's a fictional treatment, obviously, but I think it probably goes pretty near the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  59. What Me2 said. Exactly. LHO could not possibly have done it. At least alone.

WHO did it is another question. The Mob had motive. So did the CIA & the "military industrial complex", whatever that is. A lot of sh** was about to hit the fan around the time of the assassination. JFK was going to de-escalate the Vietnam conflict. Joe Kennedy was not delivering on his promises to the mob that got JFK elected in the first place. JFK's medical & women issues were a grave concern to the CIA and stuff was going to become public about that and the Marilyn Monroe thing. Plus Judith Campbell Exner who was also sleeping w/Sam Giancana was w/JFK. JFK was a big time security risk . The press was not going to continue to keep quiet about all of it so it had become a foregone conclusion that JFK was one termer. If he would even survive a 2nd term because his health was bad, but that was kept quiet, also. So, who knows, maybe all of them conspired to kill JFK. Because the Warren Commission sure made that bullet do magic things. I was only three at the time, but I think that a huge conspiracy was in place to make it be LHO. And the fact that LHO was then killed & never stood trial tied it all up with a nice neat little bow.

  60. @deree...I wish I could remember the name of that movie on Netflix! I think between that documentary about the Bush family and the "Loose Change" documentary, all fingers point at the Bush family and their greed for not only money, but power. If you find the name of the documentary, please post it.

It is interesting how Bush's grand daddy had business dealings and a partnership with a Nazi bank and it all trickled from there. And this is all FACT mind you.

The Bush family has had their fingers in the Kennedy assassination, Bay of Pigs, Watergate, among others up to the September 11th attacks. Their influence has spanned 4 generations! It is amazing how the connection is there. I'm not saying they are at fault solely for these events, but how interesting that 1 family is connected to them ALL.

I too am big into conspiracy theories and like to stick to the documented facts. It is scary what one discovers. I have spent years reading, watching and listening to so much about each of the conspiracies in my lifetime. It is fascinating yet sad.

This may not be the post to bring this up, but one of the conspiracies I am most hung up on is September 11th. All I want someone to answer me is where is the wreckage from the plane that went down in the field? Where is the wreckage from the plane that hit the Pentagon. It cannot be explained unless there is a cover-up/conspiracy to the story and event.

It is the first time in history 2 planes have crashed on land, in the daytime, and NOTHING was left behind to confirm the planes, people, equipment, mechanics, etc., etc. NOTHING. Can someone please explain that one to me? It's nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Land Manatee- I hope I don't stir anything up BUT re: 911, my RA in college was from shanksville and was home when flight 93 'crashed' she lived close to the field and said she didn't buy that a plane had crashed.

But on the other side, I have read articles in my local paper about a man who was in charge of removing bodies from trees after the crash. Who knows for sure but wanted to chime in!

    ReplyDelete
  62. No. It won't bring him back. Plus I work with someone who's a Kennedy Family BIG FAN. All she f*ing talks about is how perfect they are right down to having a portrait of JFK and Jackie in her office (I'm not kidding). I'm sick of hearing about them.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Jackie did not climb out of the back out the car because she was scared or because she wanted to "collect brain matter" there was a very visable, big peice of the presidents skull that flew off during the shooting she retrieved it in order to hold it onto his head to prevent more bleeding. This, to me, showed what a truley brave, smart woman she was.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Fascinating comment thread--thanks to all who chimed in. Going to see if I can track down the Dr Crenshaw book. Fascinating about the rifle too.

The inconsistencies and head-scratchers keep me interested. Afraid, though, if the actual truth is ever released, we won't believe that either.

As a side note, did anyone read the Stephen King book 11/22/1963? The premise is that LHO did act alone (of which I am not 100% convinced), but it was an interesting read nonetheless, and entertaining (esp. if you like wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey stuff).
