No More Yuuup On Storage Wars

Last month I posted that the end may be near for Dave Hester and his Yuuup on Storage Wars. It turns out that he got to film the first episode of the new season, but that is about it. The show has refused to let him film anymore as it looks into who is leaking inside information like that the show is rigged and items placed into lockers by producers. They do that because the whole getting items looked at has become such an integral part of the show. It probably is fake, but I still think it is decent television just like House Hunters is decent television even if it is fake. What reality show is not staged somehow and someway? I also still feel like Barry needs his own show. Perhaps even his own network.

  1. Barry makes that show!

  2. I like that networks are taking chances on shows that don't necessarily look fascinating from the get go. It's creative. Who would have thought that a show about storage lockers would be entertaining? So what if it's a little scripted? You don't get really interesting on- the- fly real stuff anyways, except maybe Paula Abdul's show. I like that the t.v world is sink or swim, it allows the last weak thing to sink away and fresh material to come in. Would we want it to be any different?

  3. He's not officially off the show. He thought that by playing hardball he'd get a raise and the producers called his bluff, as well as prohibited anyone involved with the show to speak public ally. There's a chance, albeit a slim one, they will let him be apart of the show in the back end of the season.the show just isn't getting the ratings it used to, so less money is being spent.

As for Barry, I'd totally watch a Barry network all day long in my office.

  4. I want to hang with Barry!

  6. that show is seriously boring. wars! seriously?

to me the best reality show is shark tank. I watched intervention a bit, but it was too depressing.

  7. I still watch house hunters even it is fake because it is fun to guess which house they pick and I like to pretend I'm the one looking at houses especially the international homes. On another note, I never knew storage wars was fake. I should have known better. I'm actually a fan of barry

  8. After I found out the truth about House Hunters, I lost all faith in all reality shows. Please, someone tell me Project Runway is not rigged.

  9. I work in the storage industry for one of the biggest self storage companies in the US and everyone in the industry knows that auction units usually do not have the kind of stuff that is found in those units. Pretty much the only thing real about the show is the part where they explain the standard auction process. Even once in a blue moon someone will find something of a little value but most of the time it's just crap. I can tell you that if the producers are putting stuff into units that they are having whole units worth of stuff they've planted because there are laws where the units that set up for auction have to have state seals on them. I have never seen a single unit they show when the auctioneer removes the lock that they also remove a seal. So yeah, its fake as hell. But it is good tv and it has gotten more people coming into our legit auctions each month.

  10. I don't really care that House Hunters is staged. I think they still give you great tips on what to look out for and what areas are higher priced than others.

  11. Barry is my favorite too!

  12. I just assumed that House Hunters International (my favorite show on TV!) was fake to some extent. I mean, I don't think anyone is going to limit themselves to 3 options. I just love seeing typical houses and real estate prices in other countries!

  13. Barry rules! He needs his own damned show of just Barry commentating on various topics.

  14. I enjoy the show and I could careless if Dave survives or not, he is kind of annoying anyways. Barry totally makes the show and so does Brandi and her husband with their light hearted bickering, it's not ugly more funny.

Great TV scripted or not plus not a single Kardasian on the show!!!

  15. I don't mind that House Hunters is staged, it's still fun seeing different houses in different cities. Same with Storage Wars, it doesn't bother me.

My husband and I joke about if someone bought our storage unit, good luck to them, it's a bunch of junk :D Of course it's baby stuff that has sentimental value to us and being saved for the next, but probably not something treasure seekers are after :D

  16. Actually, I was happy when they shifted more toward "finding" things that needed IDing. There was no way it couldn't be staged tho, b/c there are too many "friend/experts" in too diverse of fields.
But it's still fun to watch. Better than watching them rate junk that could sell for $2 at a garage sale as "a $20 bill all day" :p

  17. So Ent, is Barry really a record company exec, or a retired one? He's denied it, but he has alluded to a partying past and has musician friends. I nearly died and went to heaven when Stewart Copeland was on.

Dave? Dave can go eff himself. Can't stand him.

  18. I wonder if Pawn Stars is fake too?
Those people seem really genuine and there is some awesome stuff that people bring in there! Chumley and the pops are my favorite!!

  19. I like Barry and the arguing couple best too. Not that into Dave so he can move on.

And I LOVE the new House Hunters renovation where they follow a couple after they buy the house and re-do it. It's my new favorite HGTV show.

  20. I love Barry, but I also like Dave too. He's a braggart but he's also a businessman who is in this business to make money. I don't care if it's staged or not, I like learning about new things, like the lamp that looked like Ready Kilowatt.

I just finished the book by Rick Harrison about Pawn Stars - it's an interesting read. There are segments that are "written" by the Old Man, Chumlee and Corey (all obviously ghost written) but it's worth the read. I like any reality show where I can actually learn something, as opposed to crap like Keeping up with the KKlan.

  21. I just might buy that book @ SusanB. Rick seems like he is super smart!!!

  22. I love it when they go through the garbage they bought and theoretically price it. "CD's, 15 dollars apiece. Old dish towels, 50 bucks apiece. Crappy budget 2001 5.1 surround sound system from Big Lots, 1000 dollars. I already made back all the money I spent on it!" It's hilariously preposterous.

  23. The only 'reality' show on in our house is Finding Bigfoot :/
May have to check this one out.

  24. Storage Wars doesn't appeal to me. storage units are dreary. I like Project Runway because they make something.

  25. I love Barry! I had the privilege of filming him at his house a few years ago for a documentary. He was awesome and his house is full of all the crazy antiquities that he's collected. The crazy Cadillac was there too and he had to move it so we could get into the garage. I love that man :)

  26. I believe Barry made his money in the grocery business, but he knows everyone bc he's so damn fun!

And Dave is a butt-head. I only like Dave when they bust his chops!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dave is only interested in money, he has the charm of a pit viper.
Barry is the MAN! He and his brother made their money in produce, he is by far the richest of the folks on the show with a net worth of around seven million.
Barry is intersted, and interesting, a dynamite combination in a man, I'd watch him all day long.

  28. I love Barry, I pour myself a cocktail and just sit and listen. Awesome. If ANYONE needed his own reality show, he does. Just... follow him around his own little world and see the wonderful crazy. Dave is a jerk but it's hilarious that the others get so taken by him and soooo easily. And yeah, "I can sell this used 5-gallon bucket for $20 bucks!" uhh sure...

I can't watch House Hunters since I am currently closing on my first house. It's soooo painfully untrue and unreal. "Ummm... this is a mansion that I can't afford but the cabinets are white so I'm turning it down. I like this house but I want them to lower the price and give me all closing costs back and I'm pretending like there are no other bidders and I can think about it as long as I like and it will still be there." The Hubster and I would watch one of those shows and be like, FUCK YOU BEYOTCH IMMA GONNA DRIVE A SPIKE IN YER HEAD! And I'm a very groovy mellow person normally. So yeah, can't watch those. But yay getting my keys to my "unique fixer upper opportunity" on Friday! My upstairs apartment neighbors that let their toddlers play until 11pm can suck it! (okay, maybe I do have a wee bit a temper?)

  29. Yes, Barry made his $$$ in produce.
    He's my secret boyfriend.

  30. I cant believe dave wld turn up his nose at such easy money!! Fool love barry, and brandi and jarrod, but love darrell! His malapropisms are hilarious, and his $20 bill all day long is gold!! I agree some if the stuff is so junky, and they think its go na bring in all this money! Once they had a white eire 2ft high cheapo shoe rack and they are like"$20". Im like i wldnt pay more than a dollar at a garage sale. Mb they are in a stupid part of the country! Lol

    ReplyDelete
  31. I can take Dave, it's Darrell I can't stand. Big, fat, dumbass.

I enjoy House Hunters, but can't stand the stupid buyers sometimes. "Oh, that room is so pink. I don't like this place." Get a gallon of paint and change it you moron!

Favorite show for us is Duck Dynasty. Yes, I realize much of that is staged but the family is likable and the shows are pretty funny.

  32. I agree Patty. Darrell is a jerk. I find Dave hilarious, and Barry is my secret crush!

I don't watch Storage Wars as much as I used to, but I adore Barry. He says he made his money in the produce business, sold his share to his brothers, and decided to travel around the country and look for cool stuff to buy. What a life. He's my kind of man. I like Jarrod and Brandi, too. They rag on each other, but it's good fun and it's clear they're in love. Darrell is OK, not really bothersome and has an occasional funny moment. But eff Dave, that weasel. He suffers from a Napoleon complex bad.

Storage Wars: Texas is around, but not nearly as fun. The two cousin, Ricky and Bubba, are pretty funny.

House Hunters is a fave. Yeah, it's fake, but it's neat to see the different cities and find out how much house go far in various area.

Does Billy the Exterminator still come on? I got into that one for a while. All that spiked blond hair and leather pants, but he seems to know his stuff. I think he learned the business while in the Air Force. And the show is a spin-off from Dirty Jobs in a way, Billy was on that show once or twice.

I watch Extreme Couponing a lot, too. Now there's a show that lies. No way any grocery store would let you get $1000 worth of merchandise at 99% savings. No way. And some kid had a $14 coupon for toilet paper. Those don't actually exist and I can't imagine a store really accepting it even if it did. And a lot of the people are hoarders, bragging about having 2000 tubes of toothpaste. Two people bragged about having tons of maxi pads. One was a 15-year-old boy and the other was a woman who had had a hysterectomy. WTF? What kind of weirdos are we dealing with? I would love if they would show how to actually save legitimate amounts of money, not this $800 worth of Vitamin Water for 42 cents tripe.

    1. Lol, u so right about the couponers. They all say they save so much in food, but unless you like toothpaste on ramen noodles for dinner, i dont see it! U can only shampoo and wipe ur ass so many times! They are hoarders, only anal and neat about it. Seems like alot of work so you can have 82 jars of mustard at any given time.

  35. Pawn Stars is fake according to my ex brother-in-law. He was on it trying to sell an old car. They had it painted and everything so it would look better on TV and then they couldn't come to an agreement on price. He said it's all fixed. Mind you, he's an idiot, so who knows.

And I LOVE Barry, and all the cool cars he comes out with. Dave, he has some flashes where he's really mean.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Barry is my secret crush, too, and I'm glad at least a few people find Darrell annoying. Much more annoying than Dave, imho, but I'm the kind of person who prefers outright mean to constant whining.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Barry is my not-secret crush. I'd go out with him. He seems fun.

  38. Just came here to say I love Barry, but guess I am not the only one. hahaha

  39. Love the show, love Barry.

Dave is a mean, bitter, sad person.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Barry's the only reason to watch that show.

    He needs his own spin-off!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Good! The Yuuup guy is so annoying. There's no way I would watch him if he was on his own show.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Storage Wars is fake as shit, no one had to leak that.

There are 2 reasons to watch the show, and they are held up by Brandi's bra. No one cares about the Texas one, because Brandi's luscious sweater meat aint on it. I used to love the episodes when her and Jarrod would wear sunglasses and have the sniffles. All them titties plus a habit equals the stuff dreams are made of.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I kinda hope the show is fake, that and Pawn Stars, because the idea of a person having to sell their possessions, or lose them by not paying their storage fees, depresses the hell out of me.

    ReplyDelete
  44. dia, I would love to hear more about Barry! He's my fave on the show, and even if he's more than twice my age, I'd still go out with him. He seems like a total blast. And he always gives off a cool Jack Nicholson vibe.

We like Pawn Stars, but recently got hooked on Shipping Wars...that's a great show, too. Even if parts of the show are staged, it's just interesting to learn about this stuff.

And I can't stand Dave...they had a couple episodes last season that he wasn't on (they did have some other guy) and they were actually pleasant to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't mind Dave so much. Every show needs a villain and he's a good one!

Can't friggin' stand Darrell Sheets! He just comes across as a real a-hole!!!

Sometimes Brandi's bitching gets on my nerves, but Jared's pretty sneaky too -so they even out.

Can't be said enough - LOVE LOVE LOVE Barry Weiss!!!!

He really should have his own show. Heck - I'd watch him read the phone book! (Maybe Christopher Walken could guest star for that one!!!)

  46. Had no clue about Barry's background in produce?! He was my favorite, but I haven't watched it as much when I found out it was fake. Finding the cash in the back of the painting probably should have tipped me off before CDAN did.

Last Christmas my dad subjected me to hours of Pawn Stars and this Thanksgiving my sister had on Duck Dynasty which I just cannot get on board with. No one is allowed to make fun of my Bravo addiction after that.
