Dan Marino Fathered A Love Child - Paid Mom Millions To Stay Quiet

Dan Marino has been married for 28 years. About 10 years ago, while working for CBS, Dan Marino started having an affair with a fellow CBS employee. The woman, Donna Savattere got pregnant and had a daughter in June 2005. Since that time, Dan Marino has paid her millions of dollars to keep the story quiet. Well, so much for all that money because the NY Post ran the story just in time for Superbowl weekend which is going to be on CBS which is the network that Dan works for and the mother of his child also worked. Donna has since moved on and got married and had another child with a man and apparently has put those millions to good use and is doing very well for himself. Dan admits to the story, but also says that he wants to keep it private and that he is happily married. Yeah, I bet his wife loved seeing those millions go to someone else.

  4. Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Would you like a cookie, son?

    Cuuuuuute kidlet.

  5. Yes Lotta, sorta kinda. I wondered about that too, and found this in the linked NY Post article:

"A source said that Savaterre confided to close pals that the father was Marino and showed them photographs of her and the quarterback together at restaurants and clubs."

  6. So "about 10 years ago" they started the affair and the baby was born 2ish years later? It would be bad enough to know that your husband cheated, but to find out that he had cheated on you with the same person for at least two years (probably more) AND had a baby? That is hard to stomach.

  7. I knew he was a player years ago. I think I was the only one of my friends in South Florida who didn't like him. Amazing talent on the field, but he put his wife through Hell. I think he has a special needs son as well? Perhaps he should have spent more time w/him, instead of making more babies...

  8. I suspect his wife knows that goes with the territory. I'm sure there are a handful of good, faithful athletes and celebs out there. However, most people should know that in marrying one they're signing up for a lifestyle and a world of embarrassment.

  9. FSP your wit always amuses me.

I had to Google this fellow. Can't say that I care, but that baby is pretty dern cute.

  10. I agree with Amber. In many cases with athletes there is an "understanding" with their spouses.

  12. Don't they require confidentiality agreements with million-dollar settlements anymore? Money NOT well spent.

    Cute kid and resembles him.

  13. @FSP - I love your av, though I'm disappointed he didn't opt for actual light pink boyshorts. He gets an 8.0 from the Russian judge.

  14. That's bullshit that it 'goes with the territory'. No, it doesn't. If he cheats and you stay, own it. Don't blame the whole 'he's a celeb, this is what they do'. Only if you let them.
She should go all Elin on his ass.

  15. In theory, if she broke a confidentiality agreement by telling her friends, then she should pay him back what he paid her. On the other hand, she'd probably win the money back in child support payments.

    Just sayin',

  16. I wonder how the wife sat still with MILLIONS going out the door.

  17. I got to hand it to him, while it wasn't right to go outside the marriage- he DID THE RIGHT THING by taking care of the child.

If his wife is okay with it, I am okay with it.

    ADORABLE CHILD!

  18. He's got one more illegitimate kid than he has Super Bowl rings. *zing*

  19. This shows my age, but who cares? Leading up to the 49er Dolphin Super Bowl, it was all about Dan Marino. How he was going to crush Montana and the Niners. All the media drank the Koolade. The defense cleaned his clock, and the shots of pouty Marino running to the sidelines and pointing to the field were priceless. I can't stand him. He was probably feeling pretty after losing all that weight on Nutrisystem(?)

  20. I don't understand why these women stay married? Money? Status? Don't get it. Happily married my ass!!

This shouldn't be news at this point. Had we found out while it was happening, I'd get it.

However, it happened a decade ago. Marino has given Savattere enough money to support the child. It also appears that he has visited the child at a few times. Both have moved on with their lives.

If Marino's wife already knew and elected to keep him, that's between the two of them. They're adults capable of making choices for themselves and their family.

I doubt Marino would sue Savattere as he likely wants this to go away ASAP, but he would have a pretty good case IF they signed confidentiality contracts and she talked anyway. I don't why she would do that. It just makes her look bad, too.

  22. I read this thinking it was Dan Lauria, the guy who played Fred Savage's dad on The Wonder Years. Another piece of my childhood dying with Laura Ingall's reputation!

But it's a football player. OK.

    That little girl is cutie.

    Very nice!!!! (and true)

  24. It's too bad two adults can't manage to get one condom on in order to prevent this sort of accident. Even better would be to keep it in one's pants. How silly and old-fashioned of me though.

At least he didn't leave her high and dry. This woman is fortunate that she has met a GOOD man. Ninety-nine percent of jilted lovers aren't this lucky I'm afraid.

  26. Only two people know what goes on in a marriage, and cheating is never about fucking. If Marino and his wife were able to work through it and come out the other side in one piece then good for them. Cheating is a sympton, not the disease. And good on him fire stepping up and doing the right thing. It sounds like all the parties involved have moved on and are in a better place now.

  27. I had a roommate in the late 80's that was from Miami. Her former roommate came to visit a couple of times. She was Marino's mistress. She was telling us that she had gone with him to some NFL event at a big hotel, and they were checking in, and Marino's wife showed up at the front desk right then. So he has been a cheater before.

  28. She looks just like that actress who was in that terrible sitcom "The Single Guy" back in the 90s starring Jonathan Silverman. She now plays Walter White's uberwealthy ex-girlfriend on Breaking Bad. Jessica something?

  29. I think she looks like a cross between Sheryl Crow & Alanis Morrisette. The little girl is precious!

  30. @ Dewie - Good one!

I don't get it. Why don't jocks wear condoms or get vasectomies?

Marino's Wiki bio says he has six kids with his wife, four biological and two adopted from China. The last bio kid is 21. If he's a serial cheater he should have had a vasectomy after the last one.

  31. People don't know who Dan Marino is? Damn. I'm Canadian, don't give a shit about football and I've known who he is for ages. I think that just makes me old.

I don't understand why famous and rich men having affairs don't wear a condom. Makes.no.sense.

    Super cute girl.

  32. Okay I heard on ABC early morning show (like 3 AM early) that he 'confessed' to his wife on their 28th anniversary.

Dan, Dan, you looser Dolphin man
(can you tell I am a total 49'r fan?! LOL)

After I heard that, I kinda wondered if perhaps those 'payments' stopped coming in, and she went public.

  33. Can't stand Marino. Couldn't happen to a "nicer" man.

  34. That little girl is adorable.

    She's a tad gummy, isn't she?

(@Tuxedo, if they were having an affair for 2 years before she got pregnant, odds are they were using birth control of some sort...which DOES fail occasionally. And vasectomies are nowhere near foolproof...I know 3 kids that prove they aren't.)

  36. Yes, he does have a special needs child. Honestly, this is not a secret down here. It was kind of well known that he had an illegitimate kid. I could have sworn he had another one though, older??? I met him when I was in high school. This was during the 80's. I was a teen. He hit on me and my friends then. PIG

  37. Never been a Marino fan. The 49ers beat him bad, especially Joe Montana. Go Joe!

If you watch him on CBS sports, you can tell he is a dick. this is probably not the only "love child" he has.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh I forgot to mention that this came out because Savattere's husband wants to adopt Marino's kid, and Marino bitched about! What a complete Ahole.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Did he really just tell his wide? Damn that's super douchy. Birth control isn't fail proof.
The little girl is super cute!

  40. @RQ -- Don't know why famous and rich men don't protect themselves from future claims?

Can't say for sure, but I bet it has something to do with immediate gratification/selfishness/thinking w/the wrong head, and 'I want what I want when I want it and, because of who I am, I can get it. Consequences be damned!'
