Bradley Cooper In 1999 - Asking Sean Penn A Question

If you have ever watched Inside The Actor's Studio, you probably know that members of the audience are allowed to ask questions of the actors on stage. Back in 1999, when Bradley Cooper attended, he got to ask Sean Penn a question.

    1. That's exactly where my mind went too, Mookshi. While I zoned out during Penn's boring-ass explanation of directors and blahblahblah.

  4. My eyes started glazing over halfway through Sean's speech....but Bradley remained very engaged, it appeared. Now that's what I call ACTING!! :)

  6. I think Bradley's attention is a mark of his intellect. I saw him speak French once, and he is as fluent in it as anyone I've ever seen. If I didn't know he was American, I would have thought him French. He's no dummy.

  7. Christ on a cracker, that was on Gawker weeks ago.

  9. lol, so? It happened 15 years ago so it's not exactly breaking news for anyone.

  10. Bradley really resembled a boy-bander back then. I can't say anything though because I did too. Late 90's, folks.

    Not ashamed. Not ashamed.

    Okay..perhaps a little.

  11. Haha, Dontrain, exactly. I cannot believe people think Penn is attractive. A, he's fugly. B, he's super pleased with himself. C, for no discernible reason.
Inside the Actors Studio is such an odd program. The host is so fawning and it's interesting to see who takes that seriously, bless their hearts, and who does not.

  12. Brad Cooper kind of looks like Matthew McConaughey.

  14. Maybe it's me cbut I totally got the vibe cooper was hitting on penn... Did you see the way cooper kept his hand around his throat and all that leaning towards him... Sure some may say attentive but I'm willing to bet penn is bi and so is cooper. Perhaps cooper thought he could get into acting that way! Any ideas on when this video was done and if cooper got his break shortly after?

  15. I have to say that having watched Actor's Studio for many years you can see Cooper already stands out- some things you are just born with and then you put in the hard work and you've made it.

He probably hustled to make sure he was in the front row in the first place.

  16. What is sad about the program is they have run out of famous Actor Studio alumni and now some of the guests really do not deserve to be on the program, bit embarrassing to ask someone who makes only fluffy movies these deep questions and yes the fawning is always annoying but you get great stories, gems, insight into the filmmaking process, out of most of the guests that that make it worth it most of the time. Would prefer a more detached approach to questioning.

  17. Good lord Penn is a conceited jerk. I'm not sure why but I felt embarrassed for Cooper watching this.

  18. First actors studio i ever saw years ago was Shelly Winters. You think these people are flaky, but when it came to her craft, she was brilliant. In that arena, she really knew what she was doing and then some. Very impressive. I never forget she said she never got the big house or fancy car because then you taking jobs to pay for that lifestyle which had nothing to do with acting. Smart, eh!

  19. very cool to see B Coop as a student, dreaming of making it someday. Now he is A list and nominated for THE BIG ONE. And Penn actually gave a polite, thoughtful response...no yelling or violence.

  20. @lotta, inside the actors studio showed this throwback clip in march 2011 so you are probably right. My sister and I randomly watched the Bradley Cooper ep this weekend and he was still with Zellweger and she looked godawful. Not sure why its being picked up now except it played on reruns this wknd which just means no one watches inside the actors studio lol.

  21. Never realized what a windbag Sean Penn is. I thought he seemed high on something too which might be accredited to his chattiness. Bradley DID seem enamored with Sean.

  23. I'm pretty sure there are a few Actor Studios with Coop in the audience. I know I've seen him getting teary eyed at a few of them.

  24. The most painful Actor's Studio interview was Jennifer Aniston. She was so out of her league.

  25. @Jason Blue Eyes - As long as it wasn't a rat tail or like this, we'll forgive you. ;)

I don't know if it was a rerun, but I just watched Hugh Jackman's episode this past week. He is so damn charming. They spent too much time talking about AnnE.

  26. No Lelaina - nothing like that. ;) But I did try to dye my hair lighter in 1998. Instead of blonde though my hair came out almost orange. However it was around Halloween time so at least it matched all the pumpkins and fallen leaves.

  27. @JasonBE - Orange, ooh, yikes! I can't make fun of you too much b/c I've had my own home hair color disasters and also tried just about every 90's hair trend there was. And had the "Rachel."

  28. I think both of them looked good.

  29. When B Coop hosted SNL they showed a bunch of Inside the Actor's Studio clips of him with various "stars".

  30. I remember watching this when it first aired and thinking that Cooper had enough drive and the looks to make it to Hollywood. Now, I can see that he was clearly mugging for the camera. Oh, and that Sean Penn was stoned out of his mind.
