  3. Classic.

@ Reese reminds me of the George Clooney/Richard Kind story. They're big friends from way back. Clooney is a notorious prankster. Kind had a cat at his house. Day after day, Clooney would scoop up the cat poop and hide it in the garbage. Kind couldn't figure it out, and was getting worried. Finally, Clooney took a 2 in the litterbox. Kind walked in and saw it and shouted, "OH MY GOD KITTY!!"

For serious, I try to do well with water. I have pitchers set aside for "trapping" water. So when I turn on the faucet to run hot water for washing my hands, I trap the running cold water until it gets hot. I use that trapped water to water plants, make spaghetti noodles, etc...

We also bought a low flush toilet at Costco for $97! It has two handles. One handle is for pee, and it uses .75 gallons per flush. The other handle is for the other, and that uses 1.5 gallons. Old toilets used to use as much as 7 gallons per flush. Think of that. Every time you'd pee (a jillion times a day), you'd waste 7 gallons of water to flush it down. Nutso.

I also turn the shower off in between shampooing, lathering up, etc... My uncle did it years ago because he was an extreme tightwad. People made fun of him. I picked it up within the last few years. So now when I shower the water runs for maybe 5 minutes instead of 10-12.

I still have a long way to go. But when you think about all the kick ass conveniences we have and all the waste we make...it's mind boggling.

  4. @Halle. lmao'ing at the Clooney prank. I'd have been freaking out, too!!

I'm more conscious of wasting water the last few years but I didn't know it was 7 freaking gallons per flush! Holy Cow, that is a lot of water for a little pee and paper!

  5. one of the charities I work with is NeverThirst.org which drills wells in rural communities for access to water. It's amazing how simple it is to do if done right and how many lives it saves.

  7. That Clooney story is HILARIOUS!

And this is one of the reasons I love Matt Damon.

I preserve water as much as possible.

  8. I don't care how much water I use.
I'm in Chicago, where almost all the houses are on flat rate for water.
So I switched to a meter last year & my bill is now 30% of the flat rate, so I'm saving at least $00 a year!

  13. I just keep liking Matt D more & more. Wasn't that big a fan to begin with but he is so cool that he is one of my favorites now. Good sense of humor & seems humble (for a movie star).

  14. Water...toilets...$25....blah blah. He's so fucking yummy i barely remember the details.

We really are spoiled effing rotten in developed countries though. Watching this vid with news story on in background talking about the 'hardships of Carnival cruise passengers with no operable toilets & line-ups for food." Bizarre comparison. I need more wine.

Did Anyone see Matt Damon play a parody of himself on House of Lies last week on Showtime with Don Cheadle ?

Matt Damon played himself as the biggest Douchebag ever. So funny. If you have SHO I highly recommend it.
