Police Wanted To Question Mindy McCready Again

Police in Arkansas had made it clear to Mindy McCready that they wanted to question her for a fourth time about the death of her boyfriend. Mindy's publicist made a very shrewd move when David Wilson died. She said that it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound and the press picked up on that but no police official has ever said that and Mindy was scheduled to be interviewed again about the death because each time they interviewed her Mindy provided a completely different story and different facts about what happened that night. With Mindy now dead, I wonder if the police will pursue the cause of death any longer, or just mark it down as suicide.

  1. God, this is just so sad, so ugly.

I'm a wee bit hazy on the details from when my Dad killed himself, but any legal eagles out there/ law enforcement? I recall there was an investigation when my Dad dad and am under the impression that all gunshot deaths are investigated. Am I wrong here?

  2. I think she was troubled to begin with and then the added stress of being accused of possibly killing her boyfriend and then losing her kids was just the final straw that pushed her over the edge. So tragic all around.

  3. No, you're correct, Reese. In fact, any deaths that occur when the decedent isn't under the direct care of a physician are investigated; at the very least, an autopsy is performed. Of course, these types of issues are governed by state laws, so they'll vary a bit from state to state.

  4. A sad end to a very sad life. Mindy could never catch a break. I think she may have had something to do with killing her boyfriend and her substance anise, possible depression and guilt lead her to kill herself. Didn't she just have a baby? I can tell you from personal experience that post partum depression is awful. I'm 6 months post partum and still have low days. Maybe this could be a factor. I feel sorry for her children.

  5. Thanks Fru. I just hope that they can resolve it. Dad killed himself or Mom killed him: either way... that is a helluva legacy for a child. :/

  6. I felt like she did shoot him. Maybe the guilt or the thought of prison pushed her over the edge. Wasn't there reports that she had just found out he was having an affair?

  7. @Meanie, I'm sorry to hear that about your father. My favorite aunt killed herself when I was 12 and I was completely devastated. :( I feel bad for her children and her family, too. What a sad story all around.

It depends on the city/county/state, but as a rule, shotgun deaths are almost always investigated. If there's even a remote chance that he didn't kill himself, they'll investigate. If the preponderance of the evidence points toward her and the case can go no further, they'll most likely close it.

  8. Yeah, that WAS pretty strange of the spokesperson. Assigning a cause of death before the coroner even saw the body. I think she did it and offed herself because the truth was not going to set her free.

I just feel sorry for the dog:(

  9. Yup, Reese, suicide runs in my family as well, and it's a hell of a thing to have hanging over your head. I pray that these children are getting the care they need and deserve. Talk about major trust issues. They people who are supposed to love you most of all have checked out - praying that experts are involved with these innocent children.

  10. Thank you, Prolixe. I'm sorry about your aunt. I'm sorry for all us survivors. (((hugs)))

  11. Reno, according to a few stories he told her he was leaving her for someone else.
Obviously we will never know, but that was allegedly one of their final conversations.

  12. @Meanie - gunshots are ALWAYS investigated by law. Deaths of course, but even if you shoot yourself in the leg while cleaning your gun the police have to be notified by the MD. An MD can lose his license to practice if he fails to report even the smallest gunshot wound. I've never heard EVER of a gun death that wasn't investigated by the police.

As for Mindy, I still think she had something to do with the death of her boyfriend. You don't keep changing your story if you had nothing to do with it.

  13. If it was ruled not a suicide, wouldn't his remainig family be able to claim death benefits from his insurance policy? Some mention of that policy was made when he first died.

  14. I saw a clip on the news yesterday of Andrea Canning (NBC News) interviewing Mindy very recently; she stated clearly that her boyfriend was not having an affair and was not planning to leave. Obviously we have no way of knowing whether or not that's true.

Maybe there was something hinky related to his death, but I find it really hard to believe that she killed him.

  15. I wouldn't be surprised either way. They were both troubled and had addiction problems. Poor kids left behind, but maybe they're better off.

  16. I remember reading that the boyfriend had told her it was over- then the next day or two later, he was dead- from 2 gunshot wounds. First thing I think of is how the hell do you manage to shoot yourself twice? I tend to think that if the first shot didn't kill you straight out, you might start re-thinking this. Then, read that the dog had somehow found one of the bullets from the boyfriend's body and had it in its mouth. I am thinking she shot him because of the breakup and she shot the dog over the bullet. Then with all her history, she shot herself to end her tragic life. I am sure being post partum did not help her state of mind at all.

  17. There's no difference in Mindy and Bladerunner killing his girl.Sounds like 2 cases of DV.

  19. The ever changing stories about what happened the night of her boyfriend's death is a huge red flag to me. Shooting his dog dead just prior to shooting herself doesn't bode well for her either. I get a creepy feeling the same fate may have awaited her kids had they still been in her custody. Score 1 for Child Protective Services.

  20. Lawd, it's sad how many people have had someone close to them commit suicide. My dad shot himself in a garage and my brother took a drug overdose. Both death's weren't investigated all that much, but that's because it was obvious what had happened.

This is a sad story - she was so incredibly messed up. Even so, I was shocked to hear of her death.

  21. I really feel for Mindy McCready. There was no way her life was ever going to end any differently; she was just too sad and too messed up. I am really hoping that her children are well loved and getting the help they inevitably need.

  22. No doubt phoenix & J Sara. CPS actually get massive points for removing those 2 little ones, otherwise I think we would be reading a much more sad story this week.

Still mad she killed the dog.

  23. I think there will always be unanswered questions about this. I feel so terrible for her poor children. I agree with everyone that said thank go the kids were taken away, or I don't think they'd be here.
    Wtf did the dog do?

  24. My husband is a police officer and in the city we live in, a suicide is treated as a homicide until proven otherwise. So yes, if this happened where we live, if there was not enough evidence to support a suicide, no ME would have made a determination until the investigation was completed.

As for Mindy, her story is just very tragic. I feel this story could have been much worse if CPS had not taken her boys away from her. And put me down for team I think she had something to do with her boyfriend's death.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah, I think the main reason that they would want to know is for insurance purposes. If it's a suicide, obviously they're looking at whether or not the suicide exclusion has expired. Some policies, however, have face values that double if the decedent died in certain circumstances, and I would want to know if wrongful death was among them.

  26. @Jazzy, pure speculation, but if she turned against her boyfriend seriously enough to kill him, perhaps she saw killing his dog before taking her own life as a last, parting shot spit in his face.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't know how she was giving an interview so soon after his death. To me that in itself is a red flag. :/

  28. Sad for all of you who have been unfortunate enough to have suicide so close to you. My heart goes out to you.

I think Mindy killed her boyfriend and she couldn't face the consequences. Like others pointed out, CPS worked in this instance. Thank goodness! I guess the father gets Xander but wonder about her 9 month old.

And feeling bad for the dog too. Sad all the way around.

  29. If she was able to fool her producer of her "anti-suicide video", which she did, she was able to fool anyone interviewing her regarding her part in her boyfriends death. All of her reactions, from the moment he died, have indicated that she had a hand in his death. I also believe this is a major part of her motivation for her own suicide. I suspect if she'd been given the opportunity, she'd have killed her sons as well. On another celebrity gossip site, she allegedly stated if she coulnd't have her boys, no one would. I can't find the link now. I don't think she could face being charged with his death, long term incarceration, the removal of her sons, the guilt, and the knowledge he died not wanting to stay with her. Breakups stimulate illogical reactions, and Mindys were off the scale on many instances. Her habitual reactions are off the chart. Kidnapping her son, previous suicide attempts. Mindy has never learned to cope. She preferred to opt out. This is the final refusal to participate in the consequences of living. The dog was surely collateral damage as much as her sons would have been had they been available to her. It's her modus operandi. Yes, I believe she shot David.

  30. I'll wait to see how it shakes out. Always been grossed out by people being accused of things that are unproven when they're not around to defend themselves.

  32. If she killed the dog, my guess is that she killed the boyfriend. I hope she finds some peace. Maybe her sons will now have a chance to live normal lives.

  33. Sorry to say, I think this is a case of (rarely spoken of, but prevalent) DV female-to-male.

  34. My thoughts on the dog: ever see the movie CRIMES OF THE HEART? The mother had killed herself by putting her head in the oven, and she took the cat with her. Her daughters finally understand years later that she did it not to be cruel to the cat, but so that she didn't have to go alone.

As an animal lover, clearly this is what I'd like to believe here, too.

I have so many other thoughts about this, but I'm at work and swamped. Just wanted to add the part about the dog, though.

  35. Sorry...the mom hung herself and the cat.

  41. @Robert, I'm keeping an open mind, but the police saying that such & such isn't a suspect in a case, or isn't even a person of interest, is becoming common place until they feel they have overwhelming and irrefutable evidence and actually issue an arrest warrant. I'm not sure why that is, but wish I did. In this case, it could be due to fear of a lawsuit from the family.

  42. TMZ has a statement from Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss stating that she was NEVER even remotely a suspected of foul play in her boyfriends death. Also that she she never changed her story.
