Storage Wars Star Commits Suicide

I have to admit that this season I don't watch as much of the original Storage Wars. With all the drama and controversy, even Barry is not really enough to make me want to watch. I will watch NY Storage Wars if it is on because I find the characters more interesting. I am more of a Pawns Stars guy now when I need a quick two hours of 30 minute shows. One thing I always liked about the original show was when Mark Balelo would show up. He always showed up with a ton of money and I think he enjoyed f**king with the producers by finding out when they would be filming and then just buying up everything so the regulars had nothing to buy and nothing to film. Yesterday Mark killed himself at his auction house. He had been arrested for a drug offense on Saturday and told his girlfriend that he was suicidal and for her to come over. She did for a few hours and then left. Shortly after, he killed himself.

  1. Oh that's sad. RIP

I've never seen any of the shows listed above but I feel for his family. Such a tragic way to go. I hope his family and girlfriend find the strength to overcome.

  2. Wow - I remember his character - he found some kind of electronic game he thought was original and rare and it turned out to be worthless. That's too bad.

  3. I just read the original article and it says he died of carbon monoxide poisoning... what a strange way to commit suicide.

    RIP.

  5. I think the deal with CO poisoning is that you kind of just go to sleep, and it's rather painless. Is that correct?

How sad, and I'm sure the GF is now blaming herself. If someone is telling you there are suicidal, call the police to help.

  9. He would show up now and again with his man purse. It always seemed to me that he just wanted to fit in and be a part of the group. So sad.

  10. The thing about CO is that you generally have to do it in the garage, so not a comfortable end.
I had two friends who did it that way.

  12. Don't make the girlfriend sound bad for leaving - he convinced her he was okay. And yes, running your car in the garage has been a common way to commit suicide. It doesn't work so well these days thanks to the new emission standards.

  14. Sad to read this last night. I remember the Atari game he thought was going to be worth thousands because he'd seen one on ebay. It wasn't. Always tragic. A permanent solution to a temporary problem. Feel bad for the girlfriend, sometimes you just don't know if they're serious or not, or it might not have been the first time he'd threatened to do this. RIP.

  15. It was the original Nintendo that he thought was going to be worth a fortune even brought Darrell with him to prove it. That was sad. This is even sadder. RIP

  16. Wasn't he supposed to e Dave's brother?

  17. No, not Dave's brother. SW is a set up Enty... scripted scripted scripted... Producers brought him in to 'BUY UP THE UNITS' .. Dave is off the show now (suing of course..) but reveiling what a lot of us who go to Storage Auctions knew was BS about the show. Believe Mark was probably brought in to 'stir up the ratings' but, was not liked, or did not 'fit' in, so, he did not become a regular. Feel bad for the GF, he probably convinced the GF that he was OK.. that he was just trying to get her attention. And, it is very very hard to get someone committed, etc. when they are 'sane'.. Police would have not been able to do ANYTHING if he said 'I am okay, not going to do anything, I am fine'.. SAD SAD SAD.. the survivors always feel guilty... and sometimes, the person wants it that way.. hope he did not. :(
