90210 Has Been Canceled

Well, it lasted longer than Melrose Place and for that I will always be grateful to the CW. If they had let Ashlee Simpson continue acting for longer than a season, I think the world might have exploded. Remember how excited Ashlee was when she got cast on Melrose Place and how we had to put up with her talking about her craft? Remember how she has not had one acting job since because she was so awful? Anyway, five years ago the CW tried to reboot 90210 and it was never as good as the original. The only time it did really well was when they stunt casted and brought in a lot of the original cast. Some people have said it was because there was no huge star on this version. There were no huge stars on the original. They were people who have somehow managed to hang on and make a living for the most part in the entertainment industry, but none of them are A listers or would be confused with them. The good news for this cast is although, except for AnnaLynne McCord they probably will have trouble finding acting work, they probably don't have to rush over to In-N-Out and apply for jobs just yet. There are lots of ways you can make money now without having to actually have acting talent. Tori Spelling proves that everyday. The show will get to finish out the season.

  2. It's 9:00 am, I'm behind my desk, I'd love an Irish coffee.

I've never seen an entire episode of this show.

    1. FSP - I was joking! Don't kick a dead horse when he's down. It's only 6:30 here I have to wait until 9AM.

I never watched this fabulous show. But seriously, how could they ever compete with the brilliance of the original?

      *joking again*

  4. Hi Dia! Happy Friday everyone. The cast isn't just running to in n out for jobs. They're going for a meal too. Most of them look like they haven't had a hot lunch for the entire run of the series.

  5. The one guy was pretty good on The Wire. It is too early to think of his name. Those cupcakes look soooooo gooood right now.

  6. I haven't seen it either. Last year, I'd see the very end of some episodes right before Ringer (I think, I can't think of any other reason I'd have that channel on) came on and it always seemed so ridiculous.

  7. I'm relieved. I watch it, but only out of some misplaced sense of loyalty. I don't like to abandon shows once I start them, even if the shows suck. AnnaLynne McCord is the only good part of the show

    1. Same here, VIPblondie! I loved the original so I felt like I had to watch the new one, if only for the Kelly and Brenda parts. I will actually miss it, but only because I have terrible taste in television.

  8. Happy Friday everyone!!

I watched the first season of this but quickly got bored and stopped. It was not very good.

I smoked a Friday high day bowl in honor of the end of the work week!

Hey AuntJess!!!! I love seeing your name in the comments :)

Since the 90210 reboot has been cancelled, why don't we discuss our favorite moments/characters from the original 90210?

    1. Greenmountaingal, I probably have a top five! I haven't read this whole thread, but one of my favorites is the kissing on the beach scene with Kelly and Dylan before Brenda came back from France and Sophie Monk's 'damn, I wish I was your lover' was playing, sigh, i miss that show.

    2. Sophie Monk wishes she sang that song. Sophie B Hawkins :)

  10. Wow...I missed it. Always been meaning to watch this, but never got the chance. Can't wait for the entire thing to be out on DVD. I won't leave my house for an entire week and watch ever single gripping episode.

  11. Hi ladies! Friday is my worst day, it means my chore-happy BF will be all over my ass all weekend. NOT in a good way. In the cleaning, toting way. BOO!

  12. Not that this is my favorite memory but does anyone recall matthew perry being on the show for 1 episode? I think he shot himself, accidently maybe?

I had 90210 nail polish. It was bright ass red.

  13. @greenmountaingirl I'll bite :)
Favorite character hands down is Brenda

Dumbest storyline: I'll go with Kelly joining a cult. Or Donna getting a stalker (really? Out of all the girls? Donna?!)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Favorite character was definitely Brenda. I hated it when she left town and Dylan was with Kelly.

  15. @rejected - when matthew perry was on growing pains, he died in a car accident... hmmm...

  16. Ooh, how bout when Kelley got all Single White Femaled? That chick was cray.

  17. Matthew Perry was in an episode. I have no idea who he played, I just remember seeing him in a rerun once. Remember when Kelly was in the fire, and then the chick who was in it with her ended up falling in love with her?

  19. I always loved how pure, virginal Donna dressed like a 10 dollar whore.

  20. Remember when Kelly was on coke? That was great. I also like how Andrea was really 50 and married another 50 year old, Jesse Vazquez. Remember when there was a fire and stupid Donna tried to rescue a deer and wound up in the arms of that hot firefighter? Finally, Jamie Walters as Ray Pruitt! What did Valerie even see in him anyway?

    1. Kelly the Coke Years! Jenny Garth was so pretty for a coke head.

  21. What the fuck took so long?

    ReplyDelete
  22. @greenmountaingal - oh god, 90210 trying to pass Andrea off as a teenager/early 20's was HILARIOUS! She looked like my mom.

I'm a HUGE 90210 fan, I loved Brenda and Dylan together. I could watch the first 3 or 4 seasons of this show over and over and over again.

    ReplyDelete
  23. oh and good riddance to this 90210 reboot. It was horrible.

  24. Donna had the worst hair on that show. She would wear low cut shirts and it looked like there was at least a foot long space between each breast.

  25. On the topic of soapy dramas on the CW - what else does everyone watch? I've become strangely obsessed with Beauty and the Beast.

Kelly on coke was a good story line I also liked the whole Val and Dylan going to South America to get the money back from that grifter, so believable!

I thought the friend of David Silver that accidently killed himself in high school was blonde. Did Matthew Perry have blonde hair or did they recycle that storyline?

Never watched the new one but watched pretty much all the first (they started to lose me at the last season)

    Happy Friday!

  28. @katydid the friend that shot himself was blonde. Scott Scanlon.

    Team Brenda

  29. I like the new 90210 too. I'm a sucker for a teen drama *34 years old*

    ReplyDelete
  30. The "new" 90210 was one of my guilty secrets. Then somewhere at the end of the second season my DVR started mysteriously refusing to record it. I caught a couple of episodes and decided my DVR knows best. It has been off the rotation since. They all did one big significant-other shuffle and became either sappy or bitter.
It just made more room for RHO shows on bravo - same drama, fewer teenagers.

  31. Morning CDANers! Hopefully today will be as funny as yesterday! I thought the first season of 90210 was okay then it went downhill. For anyone interested it's on Netflix.

  32. Happy Friday Dia and Everyone!

I never watched the original. I was too busy watching Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lungren movies and fantasizing that they went to my high school.

**UN special forces lieutenants, Dolph and Jean-Claude, are sent undercover to Nelsonville High to stop suspected terrorists of...doing something bad, it always became a little murky at this point...While there, they fall in love with a plucky teen and descend into an illicit, passionate love triangle. When the terrorists strike, Dolph and Jean-Claude must put aside their differences to save the young woman they both love. 33. CW cancels my favorite show this year after one season, and yet let this monstrosity go on for 5. Horrible network.

  34. Happy Friday everyone.
As long as they don't cancel "Hart of Dixie", I'm happy. Although I'm not very happy about Wade cheating on Zoe.
It's finally happened; I've gone all Twihard over my favourite couple since Buffy and Spike.

  35. Happy Friday, everyone! I was reading these comments and thinking the new 90210 must have been a complete clone of the original!

I loved crazy Brenda and stud-muffin Dylan, was NOT happy with Dylan/Kelly. We used to make jokes about Donna's boobs, they were a character all on their own!

@Rox, Buffy & Spike! Joss Whedon never liked his characters to be happy for long. I was soooo p*ed when he broke up Xander and Anya. They were made for each other!

  36. The guy who plays Dixon was good on The Wire playing a totally different type of character, so I feel like he'll be able to make a career for himself.

  37. I love the new 90210 and the old lol....I'm dissapointed---it was one of the few shows with a younger cast that were not vampires or werewolves---Im sick of that crap. Oh well---it was getting kinda lame toward the end. I also love The Carrie Diaries(if not simply for just the music and nostalgia).

  38. Originally, Brandon was my favorite, but I think I'd switched to Dylan by season 2.

Favorite storyline? Sorry all you Brenda/Dylan shippers, but I loved Dylan and Kelly falling for each other. Shipped them all the way after that. Kelly on cokes was good also.

  40. The only episode I saw was when the Dad (from Melrose Place?) said, 'Nobody puts Baby in a corner', and I laughed so hard I thought I was going to pee my pants. It was an obvious reference to Dirty Dancing and those of us old enough to have seen the first round of that show. Well played, Dad on 90210, well played.

  45. Arielle Kebbel also deserves to have a good post-90210 career. AnnaLynne is entertaining, but Arielle actually has talent. At the very least, she needs to do some kind of a thriller as Katherine Heigl's doppleganger.

  46. Everything VIPblonde said.

I, too, am a sucker for a high school set drama. It's my inner 13 year old self that gets sucked into these shows. The story lines were all pretty ridiculous (especially Liam and Vanessa...her surviving the fall off the balcony?), so I am surprised it lasted this long.

I was a SUPER fan of the original and was Team Brenda. I thought Kelly Taylor sucked. One of my favorite memories is definitely "Donna Martin Graduates!" Donna had the best/worst clothes. I loved when she dressed as a mermaid for Halloween and couldn't walk. I'm pretty sure the Peach Pit influenced my love of 50's Style Diners. I still watch the old one on the Soap network from time to time. Remember the episode featuring Color Me Badd??? That was a good one. :-)

  48. My issue with the original was that they only had Black or Latino characters on when they were talking about race. I kind of liked that they had a recurring Black character on the reboot.
