Debra Messing Jumps Ship - Heads To CBS

Debra Messing can read ratings with the best of them and has signed on to be the lead of a CBS pilot called Shira which is about a woman trying to balance her home and work life. Yeah, so like every other sitcom you have ever heard. Although if NBC picks up Smash, Debra would have to return to the show, the fact that CBS made her a deal shows the world that Smash is a goner and that Debra must be feeling real proud of herself for lining up something. It won't make it of course, but right now she can pat all her co-stars on the back and tell them they will get something real soon or that NBC might still renew Smash while laughing quietly to herself.

  1. Wouldn't she be a better fit to be on a show about a woman who tries to juggle her work and coke life?

  13. I like Smash too. I don't get why it hasn't caught on more. Is it just popular to the east coast crowd who know NY better?

  18. Enty chose the most coked out photo he could find. Love it.

I watch Smash and I'll be somewhat bummed if it really gets canceled.

  19. Angie Harmon was the guess for 'Coke Mom 2,' who is bff's with Coke Mom Original Flavor.

  20. You guys are killing me. Wait til Debra's PR person gets here, then you'll all be very, very sorry!!!

Yeah I would rather see the Karen and Jack show myself.

  21. Jack and Karen - LOVE. I love when she guests on Park and Rec. Super awesome.

The ads for Smash always make me think that I should watch - kinda like Nashville - but I never watch either. I just don't have the energy to devote to another show. Downton Abbey, Mad Men and Newsroom. These are the dramas that have won my affections.

Sad that Smash is doomed, however.

wow! Coke Mom confirmation #5,863. Watching old episodes of Will and Grace, one definitely gets the feeling that she's coked up. "WillIdon'tknowwhattodoI'mgonnahaveanervousbreakdownhahahahaI'vegottagoKarenJackyou'rethisthatahahahah!"

  23. Coke mom looks coked out in this photo.

  24. Oh damn I love Smash and honestly Debra wouldn't be missed that much if the show went on without her.

  25. Can coke mom convince anyone at Sony to release season 2 of the awesome Ned & Stacey on DVD. I'm dyyyin' here!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeah, Smash is over. Three of the five principle actors on Rules of Engagements have booked pilots, too.

  27. CokeMom betrays Smash.

  28. @Jason Blue Eyes I thought I was the only one that enjoyed Ned & Stacey. What a funny show that was cancelled way too soon. That and the 5 Mrs. Buchanans by Marc Cherry of Desperate Housewives fame, interestingly enough.

  29. If they hadn't of cast boring, beige, bland McPhee in that ridiculous role that she's in no way qualified for, tried to convince the audience that McPhee was a better choice than the real (and glaringly obvious) star of the show Megan Hilty, and put Debra Messing in the middle of a soap opera drama for which she just doesn't fit, this show might have made it.

  30. Her show sucks dick anyways.

  31. "lining up something" - lol - with all the coke Mom references, this made me chuckle...

  32. I love Smash & I'm Austalian, though I think the first season was better. Honestly, they need to stop fring show runners. The Walking Dead was better with its show runner too.

  33. @ ethorne - Holy crap, you've cracked the coke mom blind!

@ Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors - which 3 actors on Rules? I haven't watched in ages and don't know if he qualifies as a regular, but I love the Indian actor.

  34. Uhm, isn't that what people do all the time, they know they are getting canned or layed off so they search for a new job.

Oh yeah, celebrities NOT just like us....
