Joy Behar Is Leaving The View

When you turn on The View, and I have to admit I rarely do, Joy Behar always seemed like she was on a different level when it came to jokes and humor and a step ahead. Whoopi can be there with her, but sometimes just phones in some days. Joy never does. Yesterday, Joy announced that after 17 years on the show, she will be leaving. Her contract is expiring in August and she is going to be the host of her own show and won't have to fight to get a few seconds of speaking or bow everytime she approaches Barbara which can get annoying everytime you pass her in the hallways.

  2. One can only sit at a table with Elizabeth Hassleback for so long

  3. I was just going to say that, EmEyeKay. 17 years?!?! Lordy, I suddenly feel old...

I always liked Joy...didn't like the ass-kissing to Babs, though. Joy is better than that. Good luck to Joy!

  5. I hope they do a special send off skit on SNL.

  6. @Puggle Baba Wawa!!!! I was trying to find a YouTube clip of Baba Wawa/Madeline Kahn

"How do you keep your legs so swim?"
"I swim to keep my wegs swim"

  7. When is the View going to go away? It was somewhat tolerable with Meredith Viera, but all the newest versions have sucked. This is a show that has overstayed its welcome.

I miss the days of Debbie Mateopolis (sp) saying stupid stuff and Babawa rolling her eyes. SNL did the best skits on that.

  8. Recently Fred Armisen was on and he did his Joy impression whilst sitting next to Joy. It was wonderful.

    Bon Voyage Joy!

  9. She had a show on HSN that was cancelled. She currently has a show on Current TV . I think she's bored to tears of the View, as are most of us! 17 years was a surprise to me. Whoopi will be next.

  10. Righhht? I remember they put Debbie in a cage back in an old SNL skit. I love how manic Armison is with the shrugging.

Good for her. I wonder who will replace her.

  12. @VIPblond....oh yeah, I don't watch because I usually want to slap Elizabeth silly...

  13. Joy is 70 years old. 70!!!!! Get a life lady. Give someone else a chance. Don't you have anything else to do in your life (she says while reading and responding to a gossip blog). But, seriously, do we need another show with someone 70 years old? I just don't think so. How do you live that long and have nothing, absolutely nothing else to do but work?!?!?!?! It boggles my mind. OK, off to the beach now and a fishing tournament. Those fish need to be photographed and eaten!!

  14. Baba Wawa and Adwienne Mawoof suffew fwom the same speech impediment, no? (In one SNL skit they put Debbie in a sack with a "wabid waccoon.") On The Weal Housewives of Bevewy Hiwws: "Weawwy, Paul? Weawwy? You'we wude!" Elmer Fudd Syndrome, maybe?

  15. Hasselcrack is bad, but Sheri Shepard is a complete idiot. Does anyone remember when she questioned gravity? What a moron.

  16. 17 YEARS!!! What! That's half my life with the horrible show. Co-sign me as totally amazed!

And I hate HasselHack too. I rue the day a random producer from Survivor plucked her from obscurity. Choose carefully young Jedi!

  17. She wasn't sure if the world was flat either, Henriette.

  18. @puggle I remember that show when she did not believe that the world was round, I sat there in disbelief watching. I don't think I have watched that show since.

  19. Totally agree with everyone. Hasselbeck angers me, but Barbara Walters annoys me too. It's always about her. Joy and Whoopi are the only two I like. Guess I'm left with just Whoopi.

  20. Who watches that show?

  21. I think Sheri Shepherd is very religious and there is a select group of people who question even the basic scientific givens such as gravity and the world being round.

Joy looks good for 70. Hard to believe she's that old. And Equation, some people don't want to retire. They loves the spotlight and good for them. Good luck catching the fish!

Cannot believe this show is still on. It seems really stupid to me.

  22. I have a close family member who worked with Joy on her CNN show and said that not only is she extremely smart & funny, but works hard and is extremely kind to everyone. I'm glad she's getting another chance at her own show and wish her the best of success; she deserves it.

  23. Joy was really the only thing funny about the show. Now all the other women are just going to sit around inhaling their own farts. When Hasselback got too serious or emotional, which is always, then Joy would lighten the mood.

  24. Joy was the only one who didn't get on my nerves. That show has completely ruined Whoopi. I agree Enty, she just DGAF. When you are on tv in house slippers it's time to go.

Joy is too good for that show. It was okay in the beginning with Star, but Queen Barbara has sucked all the air out of the room. She's hilarious, quick, witty, and she's been held back too long by them. Go Joy!

  26. Joy Behar is SEVENTY? 70? With a seven??? Ten months younger than the "attack on Pearl Harbor during World War 2" seventy?

Daaaayyyyyuuuum, girl! You look good for 70!

  27. I'm not fan of the show so I never watched but I got to give her credit for looking great at 70. She's probably going to love not having to deal with Baba and Hasselbeck every day.

  28. I just read the Elizabeth's contract is not being renewed either, because she's too right-wing and extreme. I had enough of her yesterday when she said that she liked the Justin Bieber tweeted about God being his only judge...she's so clueless. I'll be so glad to see her go. I'll miss Joy, and could do without Sherri...she's not very bright...not entertaining Debbie Matenopoulos dumb...just annoying dumb. I agree.. Whoopi pretty much phones it in, and Barbara is beyond clueless.

  29. I like Joy the best and the last few years, it feels like she is sitting on her hands most of the time.

I can't stand Bitsy and Sherri (who thought the world was flat) and Barbara is so out of it most of the time.

I hope she does get another show--I read that she was talking to CNN.

I wonder if Barbara will be angry that Joy didn't announce it via the show. She did it on Thursday after the show--and their Friday show is on tape--so it seems to be carefully timed.

I'll be watching Monday to see if they mention it. I keep remembering when Star leaving blew up on them.

Joy seems very happy since she got married and since she has a grandson.

  30. Yup, came here to say what everyone else said. Can't believe that show has been on that long, and it makes me feel VERY old because I can remember it starting.

  31. They are cleaning house. Please add Sherry in. That leaves Babs and Karen. I see an opening for?? It's really a tired format.

  32. Aww she's going to retire so she can make gentile children into matzos. Oy vey!
