Tom Cruise Surprised By Divorce

Tom Cruise gave an interview to a news outlet in Germany. In the interview he spoke about his divorce to Katie Holmes for the first time and said he was surprised that she filed for divorce. I think we already kind of knew that, but it was the first time he actually spoke about it and seemed irritated that Katie did it shortly before his 50th birthday and the big party he was planning. He says though that he has had a lot of time to think about the split and that he has finally learned to live with it.

"To be 50 and have experiences and think you have everything under control, and then it hits you -- that's what life is…Life is tragicomic," Cruise added. "You need a certain sense of humor." He must have a sense of humor. He believes in Xenu after all.

  2. That picture is everything that was wrong with that marriage! Too much, too soon and too fake

  3. Surprised? The only thing Stubby was surprised about was that Katie managed to get herself out of there without one of his COS henchmen stopping her.

    1. @Plasmatics-Right? There are some CO$ lackeys in the hole with Shelley over this.

  4. I wonder how much he actually does believe in xenu and how much is just him knowing that if he goes along with it he will be extremely powerful (by most accounts he is). I suspect he's like a televangelist, maybe believed at the start, but then found out how crazy the whole business of CO$ is but by then he'd had a taste of how much power he could get so he just went with it.
Of course that's me as semi-rational, which may not be a part of his world

  5. Eve, I totally agree.

But really, if you were Katie, wouldn't there be some alarm going off in your brain? Like, this is wayyyy too much/soon/crazy?

I wonder whether she had some intuition that she just ignored...like most of us, when we want to believe something despite what our gut tells us.

  7. The idea that his marriage was just part of his life that he 'had control' over (or so he thought supposedly), makes my skin CRAWL.
    No want.

    1. My thoughts exactly! His wording gives him away, Tom is a CONTROL freak. He controlled every move that poor girl made for years, she was a kid going in, her eyes look so old now.
I' know Katy knew she was making a deal with the devil, but I don't think she knew how little she would get for it.

  8. I dunno, I think what he said was pretty normal.

I had a friend who just went through a similar experience - had a great career, great marriage, and right before her 40th birthday they both disappeared - and she said pretty much the same thing. It is pretty tragicomic. You have to laugh or you'll cry.

Of course, hating Cruise is so fashionable at the moment that he could probably recite the Gettysburg address or the genetic code and get hated on.

I wonder which current star will be the next public whipping boy. Will Smith and his facelift?

  9. Stubby has staying power in the "public whipping boy" department because he actively promotes a cult that brainwashes and deprives people of their money/family/autonomy. Will Smith just tries to pass himself off as 20 years younger, and straight. Doesn't seem to be hurting anyone else.

  10. I don't give a damn, Tom Cruise, crazy or not, is still hot and is still the man...he's a good role model and he's has staying power. I would love to be his arm candy.

  11. Tom Crud: still repulsive after all these years.

  12. Her contract was up probably- NO WAY this man is straight. He's clearly got some deep rooted issues regarding his homosexuality. People would probably like him a whole lot more if he came out-and what would the big deal be? His time is up(at 50 years old) and he cant possibly have but a few more years of relevance. Come out, come out, wherever you are!

  13. He has a sense of humor alright: he fools himself into believing that the world doesn't know he's just another self-loathing aging closet case.

And YEAH she had to surprise him; that's how you have to do it with these controlling sociopaths. That's what my mother had to do with second husband, literally flee when he was gone out. Otherwise they will Not Let You Leave.

  14. He really needs to stop getting married.

CO-SIGN. I think he really thought he had her on lockdown as his perma=beard. Gold Bless Katie for getting out there. That she got out there so quick means she has some major dirt on her him. I am sure it did help having a divorce attorney for a daddy to advise. Can you imagine that she had to use burner cells just to make unmonitored calls. Thats just no way to live

  18. I always kind of thought Katie did to Tom what Tom did to Nicole - file for divorce as a surprise. Kind of like karma coming around.

    1. @SusanB. Before I knew just how bad Scientology was, it was the way he treated Nicole that really started me on the "can't stand Tom Cruise" train. First the way he divorced her "She knows what she did." Then after he got involved with Katie, I remember reading an article where she was gushing about Isabella and Connor calling her "Mom" and being ticked off because they had a mother. To find out that he had Marty Rathbun convince those kids that Nicole was a sociopath and didn't love them (because she was, after all, an SP,) so they'd want to be with Tom all the time... There is nothing that could redeem him in my eyes.

    2. His behavior is standard in Scientology. I had to study it in Sociology of.Religion class. Once youre labeled SP all of Scientolohy--even family--has to stay away from you or theyll be labeled SP.themselves. I learned more than any decent person ought about Scientology--my professor went in undercover on some of their activities and told us things that could give you nightmares.

  19. @rosie riveter Strangely I don't think he's gay I mean at this point nobody cares its fashionable to be gay in Hollywood at this point. I think its something far worse. Maybe of a criminal nature he doesn't want out there.

Him coming out would probably be good for his career. Besides he seems asexual to me which hard to believe is worse than being gay in Hollywood.

  20. Said the asshole that pretty much did the same thing to Nicole Kidman. Another person I wish would a) shut up and b) move along.

  21. I know there are reports of him hooking up with guys, but he seems asexual to me.

p.s. Fucking Tom Cruise can go fuck himself. Fucker. (Hey! Maybe he's an 'autosexual?' Only gets turned on by himself. That would make sense.)

  22. @CF98, he's gay. A gay friend of a friend (who's now head of a Hollywood studio, true fact) was telling me stories about Tom being gay in the 1980s, when Top Gun came out. I was in total denial at the time! But yeah, that was over 25 years ago, and he was known to be gay then.

    1. I believe it, lots of stories about him at gay clubs in the 80s. Scientology is also known for taking prominent gay men and making them looks straight with a family and lots of manly activities.

Can't stand the man. Still shots are one thing but to see him on camera is truly nerve grating. Probably not a good trait for an actor!

@libby the word "control" jumped out at me too. He is a physcopath. I also believe @figgy that he was gay in the 80's I think the CO$ pushed him firmly in he closet and he's been taking it out on anyone close to him since.

  24. his wife was clearly miserable and had to get burner phones to have a private conversation.

But Tammy's party warty got ruined. NOBODY RUINS TAMMY'S PAWWTYYY!!

  25. Will Smith, Tom Cruise, John Travolta. All CO$, all supposedly gay. All rich movie stars. What came first? The cult or the success? Makes you wonder what on earth the CO$ has on these guys that they would live their lives this way.

  26. That photo is so clearly staged. It's like his life is one big acting role that he's writing with David Miscavige.

  27. I heard that he shouldn't have been surprised. Katie had the divorce papers there in the house on top of the refrigerator.

  28. Self absorbed. Surprised because he never bothered to ask what she thought of anything, including the marriage.

  29. I loved Tom Cruise til he jumped the couch, then his rant on Brooke Shields made me join the TC hate club. I did enjoy his remarks to Matt Lauer though. He got a "speck" of redemption.

This all changed when a good friend worked w/him on a movie set. He didn't have to sign a confidentially agreement and TC was very good to my friend and his fiance. They are still close. Considering how real and grounded my friend is, I tend to believe him. He was there when Katie would call and Tom always lit up, excused himself and took the calls.

The one thing I gathered is that TC throws himself into his roles and that would be a hard person to be married to.

I know this won't go over well, and I have stated much of this before, but this movie was made 3 years ago and my buddy is still close to the cast. I have seen some of the texts from another actor on the same film and he is definitely the same crazy person in real life that he is on screen and in every interview. Many women find him gross, but I think he is a riot...

  30. Tom being surprised by it is the only way Katie could have gotten out the way she did. I admire her ability to manage to escape with her daughter.
