  1. Very sad. My prayers go out to his family.

  2. I just can't with this funeral. Having had the absolute pleasure to meet Mr Gandolfini, albeit briefly and over dinner, he was every bit as nice and generous and wonderful as everyone else says. His being gone, despite the fact I'm merely a hanger on and not a loved one, has not sunk in. And it sucks.

  3. God that is so sad. Damn, I feel bad that their private grieving is violated here. RIP.

  6. @ Libby. If it makes you feel better this is a public funeral in New York organized and paid for by HBO. His family had a private one yesterday in New Jersey (which the Sopranos cast didn't attend). I think it's kind of nice, like the best of both worlds.

  7. Private Grieving is being violated? They should report it to the NCO.

Save the outrage folks. The people with clipboards from HBO and the organized gates should've been indicators that this was the public HBO organized funeral event.

No one is going into their home and taking photographs of them weeping as the try to sleep or protesting the funeral with Westboro.

  10. I had the same reaction as Libby at first. Though seeing all the cast members of the Sopranos, it is clear this was for the public. His son is adorable.

  13. Sorry, guys. I just meant their 'ugly cry' faces--pure grief faces in pap photos, makes it seem a little violating. That's all.

I AM glad to hear this was supposed to be the 'public' event. My first thought was knee-jerk against pap vultures.

  20. I saw his pic in the checkout at the supermarket today, and it made me sad. This pictorial makes me even more sad. The man was flawed, but it's clear he was well-loved by a large number of people You can't ask for a life more lived than that.

  21. These pictures made me tear up. RIP.

  22. To the living one owes respect. To the dead one owes the truth - Voltaire

The truth is that gandolfini was a drunk, a drug addict, and a philanderer. Sorry he died, but his wounds were self inflicted. You can be certain the woman he cheated on and the people he hurt with his drinking and drugging don't remember him quite so fondly b

  26. Wow,massive G. Wonder how your eulogy will read? Something like "coldhearted, uncaring jackass"?

  27. I knew exactly what you meant, Libby, and I agree. Public or not, it still feels kind of icky to see them as they're grieving. RIP to Mr. Gandolfini.
