The Guardian Releases Michael Douglas Audio

As you knew they would, The Guardian released the 32 seconds of audio where Michael Douglas says that his throat cancer was caused by oral sex. I don't know why he would deny it when you knew they would do something like this. I really think it is because he got into trouble. His ex says she does not have the HPV virus and I bet Catherine says she does not have it which means Michael was naughty somewhere he probably should not have been.

  1. Really stretching out this story.

  2. I'll take the Guardian's word for it. At this point, I would like to permanently banish the image of Michael Douglas going down on a woman from my brain for eternity.

  4. Oh please. Everyone knows that back in the day Michael would have got up (or went down) on a crack in a plate.

  7. Michael cheated on wife #1, even with her friends...probably cheated on CZJ....so no they don't have to be infected. As gross as it is I hope some good comes from it.

  8. Maybe it was all a sick joke? It sounded as if he was laughing after his cunnilingus comment.

I actually looked it up and he's not bullshitting. There's alot of medicalese but it says something about if you have certain hi risk strains of HPV, and an active infection of it, that it is being thought to be linked to cancer of the mouth. Weird!

  10. CZ has that infidelity clause in their marriage, too. I like this trend of celebrities talking about their medical problems. Who knew throat cancer from oral sex was possible? Or that men are more likely to get HPV orally than women?

I learned a lot from Angelina's recent decision to go public too, and about genetic testing. I think these things help a lot more people than anybody realizes.

  12. Don't know enough about HPV - wonder if Michael Douglas could have passed it along to someone else?

  13. The HPV virus can lay dormat for years.

Thanks for blaming oral sex Mike; now you just gave men another reason for not going down south on women.

  14. I understand it's personal, private, nobody's business, awkward, and uncomfortable - but I really gained some respect for him for openly stating it. He had/still has a real chance to educate and open a strong discussion on an obviously important issue.

  15. I'm glad that he admitted it, as akward as it may seem, but may STDs may be transmitted orally,

    Herpes, HPV, the clap.... etc.

  16. Why,why, why did he have to go there?

  17. So how old are the writers/interns for this site? Anybody who was alive and could read during the 70s and 80s knows that Michael Douglas is/was a notorious poon hound. Why else would CZJ insist on a no-cheating penalty clause in their prenup?

    1. If you have to institute a no-cheating clause in a marital contract, why marry the dude in the first place?????

  18. TMZ had a cancer dr on last night and he said there is no definitive test for HPV--a lot of people have it and never know until it becomes cancer and you do a biopsy. They also said the first Mrs Douglas was not happy about this interview--can't blame her.

Michael was a cheater and who knows where his mouth's been. I guess it's good he brought this out so people are more aware, but it probably would have been good to tell his ex and current wives if he didn't before he talked about it.

  19. I have a friend who went to sexaholics anonymous with Michael Douglas. He is a well-known sex addict. This is the first time I have ever let that "not-so-secret" out of the bag, but I think when you imply that one of your wives had an std you should be careful of your own glass house becoming cracked.

  20. He denied it, because CZJ made him. It either makes it look like she had HPV or that he was cheating on her. Both look bad for her, and she's all about ego.

Why don't they just admit they can't stand each other. Why do they care so much what other people think? Hollywood is really a very sad place.

  21. "Q. Why are doctors concerned about HPV-related cancer?

    A. HPV causes cancer of the cervix, vagina, vulva, anus, penis and head and neck. It also causes genital warts.

Rates of HPV-related cancers have risen dramatically in recent years, even as lower smoking rates have reduced the incidence of many other cancers. In an interview with USA TODAY earlier this year, the American Cancer Society's Otis Brawley called it "one of the epidemics of the 21st century."

If trends continue, oral cancers will overtake cervical cancers as the leading cause of HPV-related tumors by 2020, according to the January report."

I believe there is already discussion about extending the HPV vaccine to boys as well as girls.

"The CDC recommends that boys be vaccinated against HPV at age 11 or 12, in order to protect their future partners from cervical cancer."

  22. HPV is an epidemic in this country, and a dangerous one. About 2/3 of the population have been exposed to it, and even if you don't show signs of infection (i.e. genital warts), you may develop it later, as the virus lurks in your body. You may develop warts, or you may develop HPV-associated cancer (cervical, vulvar, vaginal, penile, anal and oropharyngeal/throat). This is why the HPV vaccine is recommended for pre-teen kids, teens and young adults.

  23. If it is true that he got an HPV virus from oral sex, it doesn't mean that it was from Catherine OR his ex. He could have contracted it the very first time he had sex. HPV can show up right away, or show up years later...if at all.

If Catherine is upset, it may not necessarily be so much about "cheating" as the fact that now the possibility of her having it are very high. It is, after all, a sexually transmitted disease. If he contracted it, then chances are that he has spread it to multiple lovers, his wife included.
