Paula Deen Turned Down Dancing With The Stars

I'm not sure what the producers at Dancing With The Stars were smoking, but according to US Weekly, they offered a spot on the show to Paula Deen. You are probably thinking to yourself, well they wanted the ratings. True. I mean ratings were down thirty percent, but much of that has been attributed to Maksim leaving. He was a big star of the show and they could probably get those numbers back up if they overpaid for Julianne Hough and brought her back for a season. The thing about having Paula on the show would be there would be a huge controversy and unless she was spectacular enough to get high scores, she would be gone in the first elimination because the audience is not going to call in and support her. So, essentially you are taking all of this bad publicity for a week or two of ratings. All that bad will and then hoping people stick around after she is gone.

  1. I thought for a moment this must be a fake story planted by Paula's team, but the US link has direct quotes from DWTS personalities saying they want her on.
Remember how they had disgraced Congressman Tom Delay on that show? He was at the time facing charges of campaign-related money laundering and was later convicted. I think that committing a federal crime is at least as bad as saying mean names.

  2. Oh, I have a feeling she'd have many supporters and stay for quite a while. Have you seen all the Facebook stuff with people supporting her?

    1. @Reno true, my dear, sweet aunt is still a Deen supporter. She was lamenting on how much she was going to miss shopping at Walmart...

  3. Glad she's not doing it if only because they most likely would have her partner with Corky Ballas. Me no likey Corky Ballas. Plus she'd be stiff as a board and painful to watch. I think she's embarrassed herself enough already.

  4. I wouldn't be so sure about her not getting enough votes to keep her past the first week. Did you see all the Facebook support for her? The people lined up around the block to get into her restaurant? How about the sold-out Paula Deen cruise? Personally, I don't get it, but they do.

  6. She would get the votes, for sure. But I don't think she could handle it physically. She is a heavy smoker, and not the healthiest of peeps, despite her weight loss. I think she would feel very vulnerable in that setting.

I agree they need to bring back the big pros: Karina, Maks and Julianna are all fabulous dancers and coaches.

I haven't watched in quite a few seasons. The show is fun, but it takes up too much of my time.

  9. this is just DWTS pr stunt casting talk. had she agreed, they'd have milked the 15min, then found/concocted a reason for her to drop out of the cast. the shows knows better than to shoot itself in the foot like that, they also know the value of tabloid placement. this is hollywood. everything is by design.

  10. I'm surprised she said no, frankly. It would at least be better publicity than what she's getting.

  11. Her supporters would be nearly the same demographic as the Bristol Palin supporters. They took that entitled twit up to third place the first time she was there, and they found her popular enough to bring back for the all-stars. I can see where Paula Deen would do similarly well.

  12. Watching this piece of cracker lard trying to dance would be awful.

As charlie rangel said it the other day "this white cracker is a terrorist".

  15. She's got her supporters. Putting her on that show would just stir this shit up even more. I'm sick to death of hearing the proPaula, antiPaula rants.

And, that's no cracker, 8===D, that is a big buttered biscuit with extra sugar.

  16. Total stunt trainwreck casting attempt. Everyone would be watching to see how she treated the African American dancers, which wouldn't do Deen any favors.

At least her handlers are wising up.
