Wentworth Miller Comes Out

Much like Fred, the Nickelodeon star, the day previously, there does not seem to be much shock in the world that Wentworth Miller is gay. In today's society, unless you have buried your closetness deep and don't ever act on it, it is tough to avoid being outed, at least privately. Yesterday, Wentworth Miller officially came out in a letter to the president of the St. Petersburg Film Festival. The former Prison Break star and all around guy who you don't usually want be around because he is a bit of an a-hole, had been invited to be a judge in the festival and told the guy that he would love to attend, but can't because he is gay, and that he is upset about the new laws passed by the Russian government related to gay men and women. I think it is great that he took a stand, and that he made it public. Not to be callous or anything, but, if someone offers him $5M to star in a movie that shoots in Russia, do you think he would pass it up? I don't think so either. It is a whole lot easier to take a stand when all they are doing is offering you a few thousand bucks and a plane ticket.

  7. @lottacolada I remember that.. back when he was on Prison Break.(2007??) to be fair, I don't think he was ever deep in the closet, but much like Kevin Spacey, he chose not to talk about it.

  9. I already knew he was gay. I was however surprised to find out a few years ago that he was Black or part Black. His father is African American/Jamaican and German.

  10. At first I thought they were talking about St. Petersburg, Florida and I was all like, "They have a film festival?" followed by "What does Russian law have to do with it?" Then I remembered that Leningrad got a new name 20+ years ago. Clearly I need more coffee this AM.

  11. I thought he had been out for long. Who will be next un-shoking outing? spacey? Travolta? Someone from the Twilight movies?

  13. Seeing as he not only acts he also writes and produces, I think he can turn down acting roles if he wants to.

Somebody give bitchy Enty a Snickers Bar.

  14. He's 41? Never would of guess that, and definately agree Enty must be raggin it this morning and most mornings.

  18. Theory: Perez Hilton bought the site and hired his sister to write in the morning.

Not to be callous or anything, but, if someone offers him $50 to play cooking show ads, do you think he would pass it up? I don't think so either. It is a whole lot easier to take a stand when all they are doing is offering you a few bucks and links.

  19. @Rosemary Young, I thought *exactly* the same thing! I was thinking "okay, I know Florida is kind of backwards, but why wouldn't he perform there and what does Russia have to do with it...?" Oy.

    Looooooove you two! Perfection.

  21. Good for him!

I never understand lamenting the gayness of a hot actor who is unattainable regardless of sexuality. Ladies he can be whatever you want him to be in your imagation AND if he was straight you couldn't have him anyway.

  22. You know entry, just cause you sold out doesn't mean everyone has. I guess old entry misrepresented the site when he sold it to you.
"Nice hours...just write a few blurbs..and you'll be raking it in."
Being a bitch does not up the numbers. Dry humor does. Hire a kid to do it.
If it worked for Miss Cleo, it will work for you

  24. Hee hee... My ex used to make me watch Prison Break with him all the time so I pretended not to learn the characters' names and just referred to him as Hottie #1, Dominic Purcell as Hottie #2, and Lane Garrison as Young Hottie (so sad when they killed off Tweener!).

  25. He publicly denied being gay a few years ago. I have less respect for him as a result. Just don't answer the question; lying makes you a jerk.

  26. Perez H. makes my stomach revolt against me, but he wasn't the first to out Wentworth Miller. Ryan Murphy spilled the beans a decade ago when he claimed the two slept together. Wentworth was on Murphy's first show Popular.

  27. Wentworth Miller has been out for years!! Writing a letter mentioning the fact that he's gay doesn't mean "coming out" when you've been out for ages.

  28. What NaughtyNurse said. Wentworth used his sexuality to draw attention to Russia’s discriminatory policies.

New Enty, Wentworth is actually a private, classy, and intelligent guy while you're more transparent than you seem to realize and a good number of people aren't very impressed with what they see. If he snubbed you at some point, you probably deserved it.

  29. He stepped back from acting of his own choice. He definitely could've booked another tv series after Prison Break. I don't think he would've sold out for that $5 million movie.

  30. Cee Kay, I really don't recall him denying being gay. I thought he simply didn't address his personal life. Loved it when he was accused of being a racist and defended himself without bothering to mention his father is black.
