This A-/B+ list celebrity/singer/former reality star who has been in the news a lot lately once spent a bunch of her money to make her song number one. She bought 100K copies of it.
Isn't the problem with buying your own stuff the fact that there is usually a steep fall off in the second week of sales? I think Madonna had that problem with her last album.

It is no different than rich people buying copies of their books to guarantee top spot on the NYT bestsellers list. Ted Turner has been accused of this. Howard Stern probably needed all the chimneys in his Hamptons mansion to burn off all the ghost written copies of his gold digger's Oh My Dog book he bought to get her on the list.
The wording of this doesn't have me convinced that the song actually did hit #1 - only that the person was desperate enough to do this. I can totally see Paris here, and easily having the money for it.
I'm gonna admit that back in 2006 when Stars Are Blind first came out, I used to listen to it on repeat (while reading the Satanic Bible haha. I was very interested in satanism that summer - and I loved that song lol)
There's plenty of things wrong with ParisH, I'd count them but can't keep tally after I run out of fingers and toes, so don't get past 23. But that 'stars are blind' song was the same as any other over-produced pop song, people loathed it because, well, Paris - but aside from that it was a decent MOR top 40 style song. You guys @stigs, @bitterblonden, @boozie - haven't used up your shame-songs on that ;)
Aaron Carter or that LiLo song would be much worse. That thing where someone looks at your ipod and sees all the woeful songs that you secretly love - the shame-pod feeling ;)
This sort of thing is pretty much traditional music business. Even Brian Epstein bought enough copies of the Beatles' first single to get it on the charts.
Agreed with @Ginger, Paris is usually C list in revealed blinds. That being said, I have seen other revealed blinds where the star seemed to inexplicably rise or fall within a matter of weeks (or depending on which Enty is writing the blind?)
My first guess would be McPhee, but not sure which label the A/B pertains to (if it's reality star, then definitely her)
