Monuments Men Sucks- Release Postponed Indefinitely

George Clooney doesn't do much wrong when it comes to movies but Monuments Men is something that went wrong. Horribly wrong. You would think a movie with George Clooney directing and starring with help from Bill Murray, John Goodman, Bob Balaban and a guy named Matt Damon would be pretty decent. It's not. It was never going to be huge but George was already writing acceptance speeches for an Oscar. The the studio looked at it and decided it was not going to come out this fall. It was not even going to be released in late December for a few days to make it eligible for awards. Nope. The movie is going to be released sometime in the Spring. That will probably change at some point and get pushed back again. If this movie gets released on some random Friday in March it will quickly sink and maybe have a life on DVD somewhere.

George says he wasn't looking forward to award season and the movie was not about that. Uh huh.

  5. So the fact he bones whores isn't a turn off?

  6. He doesn't bone whores, he has arrangements. I like a business-like fella, keeps things uncomplicated

  11. They're airing the preview before Captain Phillips! >head desk<

  12. My favorite George Clooney movie is Revenge Of The Killer Tomatoes

  13. Preview looked really boring - esp if considering preview should have exciting things in it to get you excited about seeing the movie. Looks like a Clooney/Damon ego piece about saving art from the Nazi's. Take everything good out of Saving Private Ryan and you get Monument Men.

  14. I bet Bill Murray ruined the movie. He's a big pain in the ass.

  15. I'm disappointed-- it looks like a different take on the flip side of John Frankenheimer's The Train.

  17. I think this more an act of getting out of the way of 12 Years a Slave. By all accounts that film has pretty much got Oscar sewn up & even then the other films behind it are pretty damn good so Oscar season this year is too packed. Think many films are running scared & pushing their dates back to get into next year's Oscar race rather than this year's loaded one.

  18. I was surprised to see it being talked about for dec release, as it was filming up to about a week ago - not much time for editing / music / etc, i would have thought.

  23. I still think Clooney and JLo were hot in Out of Sight. From Dusk Til Dawn was fun. Obviously, I haven't seen a Clooney movie in a while.

  24. @MaryLamb: there is a new book coming out by a couple of former-ish gossip columnists called Rush & Molloy; they were on Gawker yesterday answering questions and that was one of them. Straight!

  25. @Sherry: for me it culminated around the time of Three Kings, also really liked O Brother

  26. @Talks: Aah thanks! I was reading the fawker Q@A too and I saw that. IIRC, Molloy answered that she knows someone that had a very satisfying sexual affair with George that was 'all girl'. Straight or Bisexual? Hypersexual? Pansexual? Omnisexual? Haha...

  27. This isn't necessarily right. This rumor came from Sharon Waxman at The Wrap. She's gotten things wrong a lot of times. I heard today that Clooney was so pissed at her that he called Deadline Hollywood to tell them no, the problem is that the movie had incredibly complex CGI that their CGI house told them wouldn't be ready by Halloween and they're now telling them won't be ready until after Christmas. The studio has seen the movie and loves it. This is - according to Georgie - an issue of them trying to compress the post production schedule in order to make an unrealistic release date, based on all the CGI they have to do.
