If you have been wondering where Elizabeth Vargas has been hiding herself the past few weeks it is rehab. So give yourself a star if you had that in your pool. You probably didn't notice that the 20/20 anchor is even missing. Heck you probably didn't even know that 20/20 was still on the air. Remember that is where Geraldo Rivera made his fame. Barbara Walters started hosting that show back when she was in her late 80's and that was three decades ago.
Elizabeth says her drinking got out of hand and decided to seek help. She has been in rehab for a few weeks and will stay until she gets through at least thirty days. It is tough for an anchor to walk away from a show to get help for drinking because you never know if there will be a job when you return.
Elizabeth is married to Marc Cohn which provides an opportunity to pay tribute to one of the greatest one hit wonder songs ever, Walking In Memphis.

DeleteI can't snark on her. I've got 7+ years sober myself, so I know how hard of a decision this had to have been for her. Although I'm wondering if her drinking started when her husband was shot.

Good for her! Good for you, too, Pogue, sister sober here, too, but with far less time after falling off the wagon for a couple weeks back in June.

ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, Sherry, Marc was a car jacking victim and was shot in the head. Lucky for him, the bullet didn't pierce his skull and he is fine now, but that had to have been a pretty stressful period for them.
