No Versailles Wedding For Kim Kardashian And Kanye West

Two seconds of actual reporting by the staffers at US Weekly would have made them pick a different place to have Kim Kardashian and Kanye West get married. In their new issue they "exclusively" say the couple is getting married in Versailles. Sounds like something Kanye would love to do. Sounds realistic which is why US probably agreed to print it. In France you get married by the government which means you go to an office and get married legally at some government building. THEN, if you would like a religious ceremony you do it after. So, yes, there is a church on the grounds of Versailles. It is Catholic. It is still consecrated which means the only people getting married there are going to be Catholics and probably someone who is not going on her third marriage.

  2. It will be interesting to see if the Church sells out for a 'donation'

  3. I'm with Henriette, I don't see this marriage ever happening. Even Kanye isn't THAT stupid.

She's been married twice already? I thought it was only once, with Humph

  4. Google shows she was married to a music producer, Damon Thomas, 2000-04.

Aren't your lives richer knowing this? ;)

  5. This has to be disappointing to Kanye. He mentioned a few days ago that he and HKPig and Compass Direction are American Royalty so this is the sort of venue where these two icons that we all love and are so proud of should be expressing their marriage vows. Maybe the White House?

Kanye also said that he views himself as a modern day Michelangelo.

  6. They could have a ceremony on the grounds--not just in the church. Versailles has a gazillion options there.

  8. Thanks Rhysie!

Ugh Harry, that guy is so delusional it's borderline no longer funny, ya know?

Topper, I would like to think they would burst into flames if they walked into a church, so I'm all for it ;)

Thank you for the belly laugh

  10. As long as she was never married in the Catholic Church before, they can get married there.

  11. He is not delusional, he is just not good at expressing himself.

  16. I think it depends on the parish priest. If you have a hard-line old-timer, it ain't gonna happen. If you have a touchy-feely guy, or someone who keeps his eye on the church accounts, it could very well happen. My mother is Catholic, my father a passionate Protestant, and when they married in the early 50s the best the parish priest would do was marry them in the rectory. Wouldn't do it in the church. Have a niece that the priest refused to baptise with the name her parents selected, it wasn't a "saint's name". So her parents reversed the first and middle names they originally wanted for her.

  17. I think Entern needs to brush up on the facts a little. The Palace of Versailles is available for hire for wedding ceremonies. It's been done before and costs about £85K.

NO religious wedding ceremony is legally recognised in France, but then that only really matters for residents.

Enty is correct that a legal wedding would have to first take place in a civil ceremony in a town hall. Once the certificate is issued you are free to have a blessing or a religious ceremony at a place of your choice. Indeed a couple could get married in a civil ceremony in the US then travel to the palace for a huge public wedding ceremony. The fact that they are already legally married I doubt would be of little consequence for the happy couple, or their PR people, whatever the case may be.

you can be married in a field in France if you wish, as long as you go through the legal ceremony at a town hall first. So the story is not impossible even if unlikely.

  18. Kim, this is your THIRD wedding. Throw on a cream colored tasteful suit - go to a courthouse, and only have immediate family.

Nope - this will be another huge spectacle, WHITE dress, and millions of people.

IF they last long enough to make it to the ceremony.

  19. And here I thought Kimye was looking to get married by Pope Benedict in the Sistine Chapel my bad :(

  20. If Kanye flashes enough money, of course Versailles will let them do it. Maybe not in the main Palace, but one of the Trianons, or even the Hameau, which would be kind of cool.

  21. Kanye and Kim? where's the nearest trash can, I feel the need to vom. F those mouthy whores, them and their disgusting vulgarity.

  22. Especially difficult would be the fact that she was married to one man until weeks before the baby arrived fathered by another man. That's not going to fly with most religions, plus her last marriage only lasted 72 days and this is going to be her 3rd by age 34. A religious ceremony at this point is pretty indecent by any religions standards. Even low class Kardashian standards.
