Your Turn

The present you got back in high school from that special someone that you thought was the greatest gift ever. What was it and do you still have it?

  2. Herpes? Hahahaha!!!! Ah shucks.
That's what the question sounds like to me.
No one special in highschool for me, and no gifts either.

    1. @sandybrook, I don't know! It's disappeared twice already. Weird, considering it's a harmless photo of Michael Bolton in a dress from a video he was in!

    2. It's still there! The second post.

    3. @scissors, that was the third time I posted it! I removed the SatC reference and put in SJP's name instead, and it stuck. So Massive Wee can drop his nasty filth all over the place but type the name of an actual TV show and watch your post disappear. Veddy interesting.

  5. My boyfriend invited me over to lunch one day and just as I was about to bite into my favorite sandwich he always toasted for me goes, 'Hey, I'm gonna go grab the clothes out of the dryer..' I instinctively put my sandwich down to help him even though he said it wasn't necessary and opened the dryer to find no clothes, just a present for me and it wan't even my birthday.. I don't remember what it was but I thought it was sweet he knew I'd pick helping him over eating my favorite sammich <3

  11. This is so easy. When I was in my Junior year, a very handsome boy gave me a very unique silver ring. I still have never seen one that equals it. It was the first piece of real jewelry I had and I wore it all the time.

It is still in my purse (I'm rather sentimental), and a few years ago he replaced it with a gold band with a rainbow of gems inlaid. We've been together going on 20 years :) Best. Christmas. Present. Evar.

  12. awww! That's sweet, @Tamarah

I dunno what's happen to me in the last 20 years but if my man told me he was going to fold some clothes these days, I'd probably be like, 'fold mine first, I don't want them to wrinkle...' *chomp chomp*

  13. My high school boyfriend appeared at my door with a bottle of Giorgio Armani, a tiny diamond ring, and four friends, each carrying a huge (and I mean huge) bouquet. It was pretty over the top, and romantic. I'm certain now that he stole it all.

  14. A silver bracelet, from Sarah Coventry I think, that I promptly lost. I bought another one to replace it without telling him. I still have it, and although I always thought it was costume jewellery, it has never discoloured or tarnished, so maybe it is silver. I should look. It's been 40 years. Ran into him a few years ago through our kids' sports., All the parents were in a hotel party room and he was in charge of the music. He put on "our song" from all those years ago. No one (his wife, my husband, other parents) had any idea we used to date. I looked across at him and it was like being 14 all over again.

  16. @aemish, that reminds me of a gift I got in college. At my then-boyfriend's apartment, he said he needed to do laundry and asked if I'd get the pillowcases off of his pillows for him. I did and something fell out of one of them. Without thinking, I picked it up, set it on his desk walked out of the room to give him the pillowcases. He looked at me expectantly until he realized that I hadn't looked at the thing--it was a note paperclipped to two Washington-New England football tickets, a VERY big deal. He didn't know that I wouldn't snoop!

  17. From my friends-they chipped and bought me a beautiful gold ring with sprays of rubies. Loved it. Parents went away, brother had party, my ring gone. Wish i still had it.

    So:

    smut = ok
    cheesy gifs = ok
    racist comments = ok
links to NKOTB remixes = not ok
Michael Bolton in a dress = not ok

  21. A handmade knife with a sheath made out of felt and staples.

It was a really strange gift, considering I was a girly girl.

And, yes, I still have that odd little thing.

  23. I love all these stories! In 10th grade, my boyfriend and I broke up a few days before my birthday(so sad!). So on my birthday, I open my locker and there is a huge grocery bag (paper kind-this was the 70's) filled to the top with bags of my favorite candy from him. Not expensive, but thoughtful. RIP Alan.

  26. In college. My friend gave me a sweater for Christmas that I had just bought for myself. From Macy's Herald Square!! Do you know how many sweaters are in that store at Christmas??? I was so touched that she knew my and my taste so well. And I loved the sweater so much, that I was glad to have 2 of them. Actually, 3, because I had bought 2 (different colors).
