Blind Item #2
This B list reality star with A+ list name recognition on an A list reality cable show has a friend he met while visiting The Abbey a few months ago. Apparently the aging married B lister and his 20 something friend are inseparable and the reality star has moved his friend into his home. The friend was even by the reality star's side during a recent major life event.
Is this supposed to be about Lady Bruce and his Adam's apple surgery?

ReplyDeleteIf Bruce Jenner IS getting a trans-op, which indicates that he has struggled with his identity *forever*, what a nightmare of a life he's lead post his athletic career - where he was surrounded by hot men. Then he marries Kris, a beautiful woman - imagine his fantasies of wanting to emulate Kris and her witches - how to become the "perfect" woman, so disturbing.

I don't think this is Bruce, if it was, he should have been described as more than just a reality star.
ReplyDeleteSexual orientation is different and separate from gender identity. For example: a woman born in a man's body first thinks they must be gay because they are attracted to men when really they are a straight woman with a man's body - if you're confused think how they must be.
As for men who like to dress as women. There are two types. Men who like to dress and pass as women are usually transvestites and are straight. Drag Queens are gay men who like to perform and celebrate women - exaggerated. You might think there is a third kind - Men who dress as women because they transgendered - they dress as women because they are women.
I have a bucket list item that is to see a woman that has a weiner. Now, Im not totally sure what that would be called.. TS? but its mostDef on my bucketlist.

ReplyDeleteExactly. I've briefly dated a man who cross dressed in his downtime and he was perfectly straight.
I really felt sorry for how complicated it was to manage his sex life, his sexual identity and his sexual orientation. It's definitely not black and white, and the potential for confusion is very high.
He wanted to be a man having sexual relationships with women, while admired by men, and all that as a woman.
PS: and I never felt that him leading his sex life with women made him consider himself as a lesbian. He was all man once the clothes were off and seemed to enjoy it. I don't think the pre-op transvertites consider themselves as lesbians when they are with women but I may be wrong.

ReplyDeleteI was friends with a guy in high school who is transgender and lesbian. Even as a lesbian I had some trouble understanding at first. But then he explained that he could only feel happy/content/aroused with a womea AS a woman. He wanted nothing to do with the male gender, either for himself or for a partner. She's fully transitioned now; had to undergo a bunch of procedures (aside from the obvious) such as full body electrolysis, hair transplants and hairline surgery, adam's apple shaving plus all the hormones. But now she has a new birth certificate, driver's license, etc. and lives full time as a lesbian. Maybe Bruce feels the same way.
ReplyDelete@aemish et al, we used to have not one, but TWO women in our church who were born male, had the surgery and then married women. (We're Unitarian - very LGBT-friendly.) That must be the most confusing thing in the world...to be attracted to women but still feeling born with the "wrong" parts. How do you even begin to grapple with that as a teen?

ReplyDeleteUmmm, goddess, its started by bruce growing his hair long, getting a lady manicure, wearing female jewelry and having his adams apple filed down. None of this is pmk's doing.
Delete@DH - the proper term for a person with both sets of sexual organs would be "intersexed." I am intersexed and it is completely different than gender identity or sexual orientation. It is a physical, genetical condition and thanks to the internet, many of us have found one another and no longer feel alone. I would expect you meant no harm, but hearing the term hermaphrodite or making jokes about such things is very upsetting to intersexed folks-not even so much for us adults who have finally come to terms with their particular situation, but for the children who are growing up, trying to find their way in the world and understanding and acceptance of themselves as they were created. We aren't freaks and we certainly don't like to be considered to be equated with sexual perversions. We are just normal, every day people, living our lives like everyone else. I have seen estimates as it being as common as 1 in 1500 births, but I think it is even more common than that. My particular condition is Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (AIS) and it is estimated to occur in about 1 in 13,000 births. Fairly rare, but that would mean that there are about 1/2 a million people on the planet with my same condition and about 8 million with some sort of intersex condition.
ReplyDeleteWhen you learn more about intersex conditions, gender identity issues, sexual orientation issues, etc...you begin to realize that gender is anything but black and white. In fact, we are all conceived male AND female. We all have both male and female hormones in our bodies. Add to that fact that males and females have infinitely more things in common biologically than they have differences it further shows that to state that you can absolutely and definitely state the absolute difference between a male and female is truly impossible. Sex and gender is much more of a spectrum than an absolute, with infinite shades of gray.
