Grace Kelly Gets A Cannes Date- But Not Much Else

The movie Grace Kelly was supposed to be contending for Academy Awards this year. As I previously posted though the movie is truly awful and will join a list of Nicole Kidman bombs that continues to grow each year as her acting becomes less acting and more about her. The film's release has been indefinitely delayed which means you will probably see it On Demand sometime in 2014 and that's about it. The folks at Cannes though want to show it so will be premiering it the opening day of the festival. Nicole Kidman is probably going to be a no show because no one wants to suffer that kind of public embarrassment. Nicole probably doesn't care about it anyway because she already got paid and doesn't like to do publicity for films and already has other projects lined up from idiot producers who are willing to pay her outrageous fee.

  1. I don't understand her draw. She was a B list actress with an A+ marriage.

  2. I think the movie is supposed to take place in 1962, when Grace Kelly was around 33.

Nicole at 46 cannot pass for 33.

Nicole Kidman is so plastic and stiff ... how does she even keep getting this much work when there are way better actresses out there struggling to land parts?

  4. Seven I LOVE your avi! Although I must admit, Allison is my favorite.

  5. Count me among those who can't stand her. She is incapable of conveying warmth and she has only one good performance To Die For.

Frankly I've never understood the regard for her. She does a grat impersonation as someone embalmed. Zero sex appeal. Unless you like them waxy and lifeless.

Big MEH. Isn't there an Aussie sheep farm she could retire to?

  6. I think Nicole actually looks quite lovely in that photo. Not as beautiful at Grace Kelly...but better than she's looked in a long time.

I still think Charlize Theron would've made a better Grace Kelly.

  8. You think because Cannes is in France and Monaco is a French property might have something to do with showing a film about Monaco's princess? Just askin'

    1. What?! her face was pulled so tight that she couldn't convey any emotions. She was just awful. I cringed every time I saw her. It was so sad.

  12. @caroline, add "Dogville" to that list. Kidman has given some great performances, and good on her for searching for quality material over "blockbuster" shit (obviously, except for "Princess Grace"). Even with an age-appropriate star, "Princess Grace" would have sucked.

Saw the trailer for "The Edge of Tomorrow" last night. They should have just called it "Generic Tom Cruise Action Movie #14."

  13. Nicole was incredible in Moulin Rouge, played tragic love beautifully. And for many other films, I admit it, I love Kidman....including her ice queen persona....her face is too frozen and maybe it has impacted her talent. Tho I haven't seen all her work, I will see GK, just to show how they butchered the film.
    She'll always be A+.

  14. Saw The Railway Man a couple of weeks back. All the performances are exceptional, including Nicole's. A truly powerful film. Highly recommend it. Take tissues.

  18. I liked her pre-tom-and-plastic-surgery in Dead Calm. Great movie.

  19. I believed she was too long in the tooth to play Grace and said so when they announced her as the lead. Yes, Charlize would have been a much better choice.

    1. ( sorry, since this is the second time this was said, I couldn't hold back any longer.) Charlze would not be the best Grace Kelly. Grace was called " the ice queen " who slept around for career advancement only. ( sounds familiar?) Her family originally pimped her to the Kennedy's but she couldn't overcome showbiz prejudice from the bootleggers who wanted bigger things.
Trust me, Kidman is perfect " ice over fire " for this role. If its bad ,it will be Because of the writing, the director and the editing.
Personally, I find her distracting in movies.
I end up watching her and wondering why she chose acting decisions/choices.( except Moulin rouge, that whole movie distracted me)
      How Grace Kelly of her

  20. I loathe her too, surgerised, frozen pinched face....poor Grace will be rolling in her grave portrayed as a ginger!

This is going to be truly awful.

  22. @queenie - my guess is she gets all the parts and money in exchange for not talking about gmd.

  24. This is a hot mess, I can't even believe she could be so vein as to believe she would be great as Grace Kelly. With that said, she is still capable of great work, even if her face barely moves. Anyone see Hemmingway and Gelhorn? That HBO movie with her and Clive Owen? I really had no interest in seeing it but it turned out to be a very very good movie and she did great, they both did.
