This B list reality star who got his fame on an A list network reality show has been having trouble paying his monthly fee to a group of men who require a payment from the star every month. It is a common practice where he is from but it is usually athletes who are forced to pay. His income has declined though and now the men are threatening to hurt his A list celebrity girlfriend.

ReplyDeleteThis wasn't revealed, but a blind was revealed that Maks carries $50k cash around with him in a briefcase at all times. Very similar reasons -- you don't mess with the Russians.

DeleteThis is common practice in the US as well, most notably among athletes and rappers. They get taxed and/or extorted once they make it big.

ReplyDelete@Snit: The fee is what they pay to not have the shit kicked out of them; or worse. The Russian criminal element was already a bunch of hard cases. They had to be to survive under the old Soviet regime. With the collapse of the USSR, a lot of ex-KGB also turned their talents elsewhere.

To be a target for the Russian Mob, all you have to do is be Russian. They'll find a way to make you pay. He might have relatives back home and they could be used as leverage against him.
