Leighton Meester Got Secretly Married To Adam Brody

I love secret marriages. I think those are the only marriages any tabloid should talk about. I love when two celebrities have a relationship fairly under the radar and don't feel the need to call paps and have their relationship documented. Of course many times it is just one person doing the calling without the other person having any clue what is going on. cc: Julianne Hough.

When two celebrities become a couple who have an equal aversion to fame it is a thing of true beauty and should be celebrated. For almost a year Leighton Meester and Adam Brody have been dating. How many photos exist of the two of them together? Not very many but they still went out on lots of dates and were seen together in public all of the time. Huh. You mean you can be a celebrity and date and not be swarmed by paps? Yep. Apparently you can also get married without turning it into a spectacle or selling your photos to a tabloid to keep yourself in the spotlight. Why don't other celebrities do that? Because they want to be in the tabloids. They love seeing their photos splashed across the pages and they also love the attention. They love when they make a call and a few cameras are waiting for them to appear. It gives them a sense of purpose. I know, I know. If that is your purpose in life then you have a pretty sad life.

  1. Congrats to them. Marriage is wonderful, even though I'm enjoying my current separation right now.

  2. Eh, neither of them are particularly famous anymore. I can't imagine any glossies paying much for wedding photos.

  3. There is nothing wrong with sharing good news publicly, If secrecy works for her then more power to her but there is no shame in spreading the word.
    Morning Bruce.

    1. Kris will never allow you and Scott to get married privately, Kourt. You know that, right?

  4. The glossies would pay to show photos of generic brand margarine melting, if maragarine had a PR budget. Given that neither of these two is on a super hot show now, more than anything it says to me that they took the high road and ignored the possibilities for PR and just did what they wanted. Good luck, kids.

  8. I sure wish them the best. I don't think Leighton has had much in the way of stability. I remember reading somewhere that she was financially supporting a brother who has some sort of chronic condition. The mother had allegedly used some of the healthcare money for herself.

  15. Good for them. I've always liked her and rooted for her. She had a difficult childhood and has done well for herself despite her mother.

Probably why she shies away from putting her personal life on display. They have a decent shot if they continue doing that.

  21. I loved him in Mr and Mrs Smith! The belt! The belt!

Good for them - I wonder if *some people* might take the hint that their nuptials aren't as klassy as they think they are just because they're in your face.

  23. The whole paparazzi thing is exposed as far as I'm concerned whenever you see Brangelina. Perhaps the most famous people, individually & together, & yet they are able to disappear for months at a time & emerge only when it suits them (film to promote, charity event, awards season etc etc). Clearly if celebrities really want to they could live a life away from most paparazzi action but clearly nost of them don't want to.

  24. @Rosso: That is why the Jen Garner law about not photographing celeb kids is BS. It isn't about protecting the kids, it is about protecting the pay days, by only allowing certain paps to photograph the kids.

  25. @Count Indeed, they (& their PR teams) want total control of who & when & how they are photographed while not letting it seem like they are controlling it.

It is possible to live a life without all the "hassle" the likes of Jen Garner complain about.

  32. Congratulations to them. I hope it works out.

It's always the same people we see walking aimlessly in the street in Los Angeles where I've been told no one really walks anywhere, or leaving Whole Foods with what look to be empty shopping bags or leaving yoga class or the gym. There are people you never see in the tabloids who are very good actors or singers and work steadily. You never see Helen Mirren walking out of Harrod's do you?
