Blind Item #4

This A list band made a recent surprise appearance. The supposedly sober singer of the band was anything but. Hopefully they are not planning on touring soon because he won't live through it.

  9. Mr Violet took one of the Violet jrs to see Green Day in concert a couple of years back. Said it was one of the best gigs they'd ever seen. This was pre BJ's rehab.

    1. Love Pearl Jam! I used to kick it with one of Vedder's brothers back in the day. That whole family has done a lot of really great charitable work

  12. Soundgarden was my favorite. Used to run in to Nirvana before they hit it big and everyone but Grohl were really nice. Will never forget getting lunch at the Broadway Grill while Kurt was ordering breakfast and getting bitched ouht by Courtney for ordering bacon.
After making him call the waiter back to cancel the order for bacon, a shotgun seemed the only answer. If it were me I'd have aimed at her instead....

    2. Awesome story, Queen! Thanks for sharing! There are a lot of people that think Love was literally involved in the shooting. If I remember well, I think even Love's dad thought so. Such a tragedy

    3. @QueeneAnne Grohl wasn't nice ?!? Isn't he known as the nicest man in rock and roll. Please say it ain't so :-/

  13. I love Soundgarden, and Chris Cornell's solo stuff was great too (Can't Change Me); and I effing LOVED Audioslave's first album. I can't understand how you could not. Derek! Splain it!

Queen, what, everyone BUT Dave Grohl?? What do you mean?

Steamy, first book club tomorrow, woot woot!

TTM if you can find it check out Chris Cornell's acoustic solo album, it's my favourite! He does Soundgarden, Audioslave, solo and cover stuff. His cover of Billie Jean is all kinds of awesome.

    2. Thanks, katy, I will! I love his stuff, his voice is insane

    3. What's the book club book? I just read the Greg I "The Quiet Game" after reading about it here -- awesome book.

  14. @K---shush!
@Reno---I wish I had an appetite after drinking--you people are lucky! I am force feeding myself some toast. and took a protein vitamin.
@Queen--wow I love all that stuff--you are lucky! I met Courtney and Melisa Auf DuMaur once after a Hole show--they were nice and talked some serious smack about Winona Ryder! lol. Like Mean Girls in a band...

  15. TTM--I think I was really young when the Super Unknown album came out and the local Radio here plays Black Hole Sun waaay too much for my liking..

  16. To the Canadian Contingent O T, does anyone else get the ad for Mod shoes on the posts? Their slogan is " aboot " sale. I think y'all have skewed the ad sale..:-D

  18. I was with friends and we went to the bar at the top of the Space Needle (sadly, no more). They showed up and sat at the next table. Tiny space. We hung out for a bit. Maybe it was a bad day but Grohl looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there and when he spoke it was one or two words. Terse. Not a happy guy. Kris was oddly charming in a nerdish way. No CL so Mr. C seemed more relaxed. Could a lso have been the drugs.

  19. Love Audioslave. Never was much love for Soundgarden but those were some of the best concerts I ever went to. And a dear friend who passed loved them a lot so I guess there's a sentimental attachment.

  20. Kings of Leon. Caleb followel- has been shipped off to rehab twice.

  21. Kings of Leon - hands down

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Sugarbread--I saw Kings of Leon play last month--they are on tour.

@Queen----when I picture the Seatle music scene to be just like when they would go to shows in the movie Singles. I am fortunate to have seen some great bands in small venues before they made it big. Something I really cherish!

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Derek - What did they say about Winona?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm sorry to hear that, Queen.

I also picture Seattle to be exactly like Singles, and I LOVE that movie. No disbusing us of this notion, Queen!

  25. That she is crazy and would date every indie musician under the sun but as soon as the guys would be asked about it and they stated yes I am dating her she would freak-out-break up with them-yet stalk and do things like call them 100 times and hang-up. Meanwhile it was her that would get her publicist to set her up with the guys in the first place. The name Ryan Adams was an example...

  26. I was 15 when I met them and my best friend was/is obsessed with WR and that was the first question to come out his mouth. I was kinda embarrassed but I love ol Wino too so it was good gossip and surreal at the time. Those girls like to gossip!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Never saw Singles. Or Sleepless. Did see the Elvis movie at Seattle world s fair.
Okay time for Werther opera broadcast. Later TTM , Derek.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I never cared for Soundgarden either. Or Nirvana. What?

    ReplyDelete
  29. That's awesome, Derek. Never been a Wino fan.

    Have fun, Queen!!

    1. My idea of somebody with an insane voice would be either Matt Barlow (formerly of Iced Earth) or Zak Stevens (formerly of Savatage). Those dudes can SING!

  30. Thanks, Derek. Wino seems to be super secretive about her relationships. I think the whole media frenzy with Depp scarred her for life.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Star---yeah I do LOVE many of of her movies do. It was Melissa that did most of the talking FTR --Courtney was in lala land and sorta just popped in mid-thru conversation and called her a cunt lol --I wanted to chat more with Court but she had NO interest and was very scary

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Lady---thats awesome! Yeah they are rad.

Oh man, Temple of the Dog.
Epic. Cornell & Vedder blend their voices so well.
How about Alice In Chains guys ?!?

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Derek: Your story is sooo much better! Courtney is INSANE! I have friends who met her at the Comedy Central Roast taping, where she was an incoherent shit show. But I have friends who used to work at the House of Blues, and she's scared some of them for life. I'd be too afraid to approach her, based off of some accounts of these run-ins. Court's drug regimen and stance is on par with Exene but Exene isn't a violent psychopath

  36. It was some common knowledge about Winona, aka "Wanna Ride Her", that she was very pushy about musicians, especially musicians into a steady relationship. She had her eyes on Beck for years. When, a decade ago, he broke up with his girlfriend, because she had cheated on him, she phoned him minutes after she heard about it. They dated for something like two weeks, but it seems that Beck, like many others, had issues with her kind of possessiveness and craziness. The stuff about keeping it a secret Derek mentions may be a good explanation. I had heard about her various dalliances with Ryan Adams, Adam Duritz and a few others.
She also tried to have an affair with Jakob Dylan for years.

  37. Yeah, I miss that kind of spontaneous collaboration (Santana captured the same in the late 90's) AJ.
It was a wonderful tribute to their friend.

  38. @Lady---yeah especially being so young when I met her! SCARY lol---we won a radio contest and it was awesome yet terrifying. Melissa was REALLY nice though. She approached us as we stood in the corner awkwardly. I still have an old photo with her arm around us. So sweet.
@Angela--yeah very bizzare cause I think she is so beautiful..

Maybe Dave was just having a bad day.... QueenAnne's statement is seriously the first ever I have heard about Dave not being nice.

I never liked Nirvana but am all about the Foo Fighters. And STP was the shit right around the time they did unplugged and Scott Weiland was gorgeous. Pearl Jam was great for the fist 2 albums and then they got all righteous.

The Singles Soundtrack is still in my top 5 favorite albums EVER.

  43. This is BJ Armstrong. So sad. Love him. Green Day actually hasn't played in awhile but I think Enty is referring to the SXSW set of their side project, the Foxboro Hot Tubs.

Billie Joe's drugs of choice are booze and benzodiazepines (namely Klonopin) but I've heard he also likes pain pills. Booze and benzos are a rough scene. Puts the person in a much more severe blackout. So sad. Hope whoever this is gets better

  44. NIN and Soundgarden are touring this year.

Never liked Soundgarden, but love Chris Cornell. And Hunger Strike with Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready on guitar, historic.

You won't find anyone in Virginia with a bad word to say about Dave Grohl.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Kinda O/T...
Even if I was not a fan of Hole, it would be hard for me to buy into the insinuations made by Enty & many others that Courtney--no matter what demons have plagued her since childhood (& us in her adulthood)--was directly or indirectly responsible for her husband's death.

Aside from Love's frequent paranoiac behavior & the Batsh*t Crazy thing, has anyone suggested a convincing motive that would drive her to pick up a shotgun & blast Cobain's head off?

As for her dad, if you know anything of Courtney's terrific parents--his creepy speculations--at the very best are on a par with the credibility of most Michael or Dina Lohan public statements about their eldest daughter.

  46. @bflo it's like you're speaking for me. STP was much better live than PJam. And yeah, PJam lost me after their 3d album. So glad Scott didn't Put himself 6 feet under (yet). He's so creepily zexy to me :)

  47. I can't with the SG haters- Chris and co love toronto and I haven't missed an SG or CC acoustic show in the last three years.

Chris puts in an amazing solo performance- anyone who is a fan of his voice must catch one.
