Blind Item #8
This entertainer(singer) was A list not that long ago. Bad choices, drug use and she was gone. A one album wonder. In the past couple of years she has been in the news for her erratic behavior. Anyway, in the past few months she has been stalking her A list celebrity ex and showing up at his NYC apartment and once got past the doorman and slept in front of his apartment door.

DeleteCyndi Lauper is a former A lister. But she had a great 2013 with the Broadway show she wrote. Still, she really only had one great album, right? Enty has her at former A list, now B list.

ReplyDeleteFiona Apple's A list ex could be Trent Reznor (NIN). He was crazy about her but he blew things by being wasted all the time and screwing Courtney Love. Remember reading this in interviews way back in the day. He is now married with kids, not sure where he lives.

ReplyDeleteSYCB, I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Tori Amos, another woman with a piano and a fucked-up past. (No shade on either lady; I'm happy for them that they've both overcome what they had to deal with.) He's married w/2 little boys in LA; I think she's married, and has a teenage daughter in the UK. (Besides, Fiona would have been rather too young in 1994, when all that went down, and he was in New Orleans and not doing terribly well due to drugs, etc. when Tidal came out in '97.)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, while Fiona's first album is the one everyone remembers, the second one did reasonably well, and she's been putting out music ever since; Lauryn Hill, OTOH, has only released the one album, and "erratic" may be understating the case re: her behavior over the years. Of the two of them, I'd go with Lauryn.

ReplyDeleteTricia, again - Fiona's "Extraordinary Machine" debuted at #7, and "The Idler Wheel" debuted at #4 on the charts. Though her songs may not be commercially played on the radio, Fiona is NOT a one album wonder. This is not her. there are plenty of crazy women out there besides my girl Fiona.
ReplyDeleteYeah I was gonna say Fiona is not a radio girl and since she slammed the b.s. of the industry on tv she got a bad rep with the schmucks that run things but her fans are loyal as hell, the response the got from people about her dogs proves she has minions a plenty. I think Sinead O'Connor could easily be a guess on this too in the same vein as Fiona, hugely respected but hasn't charted an album and certainly a little kooky.
